As a Law Enforcement Officer, I've been to a few "Take Back Our Community" meetings and "Drug Awareness" program meetings. The people who "put whatever they like" into their bodies, lose their family relationships. I've watched mothers stand up and cry at these meetings still in mourning of losing their son or daughter. Elected officials getting misty eyed over someone they tried to help.
My best childhood friend got into Heroin at 17. Half a dozen of my graduating class in the county died fr
Pardon me if I somehow misinterpreted the video but....wasnt that guy just arguing about how some places get searched more for drugs than the others? Im 6 minutes in and I havent even heard about legalizing drugs....maybe he says it later
@superlucci He's explaining his personal experience in law enforcement leading to his supporting legalization. Cliff Notes: The Drug War is a biggot-filled Fail.
To truly end all this big government we need to use the same tactics that the others used. We who are against senseless wars should join the military. We who oppose the war on drugs should join law enforcement. We who oppose a president with unlimited powers should become president. And when we do, who can stop us? Who can tell us no when we make the decisions? Then we can restore liberty in the land of the free. It's tough, but we can and will do it.
be thankful that at least you have the privilege to trash talk about the U.S, because in other countries you would be fucked if you even dared to say such thing, yeah, the States is fucked up, but at least we are able to have decent lifestyles.
no we want to live in a free and just state, where the power of the purse doesnt not purchase your freedom. I mean you make that comment and ask what you believe in? im sure you have one or two gripe about the government that i could break down into a quirky one liner.
Who cares? He's doing service if he wants to relate to a crowd with his personal experience , not a bad thing. Looks like he was speaking at a church, so he's saying to the crowd I can relate because I am like you. This is a great video! White neighborhoods have higher rates of illegal drug use yet they don't go crazy on them. That point needs to be driven home again and again. This man, MATT FOGG rules, enough said. He's telling truth, you aren't supposed to say. That needs to be said.
Apparently marijuana really has become another strange part of our American culture, thats fine it gives diabetics something to use . I have a question for anyone in federal law enforcement currently or previously. Have you ever felt pressure to enforce what you considered obsolete regulations and laws because it came down to your personal records and achievements to reach the next grade? Seriously if thats a part of it then you are stuck between a rock and a hard spot, hang in there guys.
This guy seems to always be right. We need to legalize all drugs. It would be a lot better country if we had legal places ppl could go and get cracked out of their heads and tweeked out on meth. Just think how nice it would be to have really easily accessable heroine for all to shoot and not have to worry about cops killing their buzz. If we could just have corner vending machines we could get our cheese, crack and ice out of, man what a nice place this country would be to live in.
The principle thing that prohibition does is Create a black market and make criminals and corrupt officials rich. I guarantee that the drug problem will get a Lot worse until they legalize all drugs. Drug use is a Matter of Freedom as an American.
I actually think theres a lot of small town police departments that are addicted to federal funding, asset seizures, and power.
It is great to know that there are still officers out there with the best interest of the those they swore to protect and serve in mind. Awesome, awesome video. Helps to restore a little faith in law enforcement.
He is right! One third of all African American males here in state of Washington cannot vote because of a drug bust! This drug war is and always has been a war on monitories!
I am hoping our new President will do the right thing and end this WAR on the American people! Obama is a very smart man, with a good heart, and that is why I supported him from the beginning; I just know he will do the right thing! (smile)
if he does do something, I expect SMALL changes in the first 4 years..
MAYBE allowing states like new mexico to legalize marijuana, without the feds swooping in, and probably HEAVILY tax it.. to the point where I doubt it will put a dent in the blackmarket...
(I heard that in new mexico if they were to legaize it, the state would put a 50 dollar tax per ounce, and the feds would also)
It is a no brainer that if they are going to tax the bejezus out of it.. ppl will still grow it despite laws.
Their thinking is that if they tax it high, it will reduce use, but they need to remember that if they Tax my productivity.. (work) and I might just work less.
but you have to realize... the risk is removed, it is grown locally, so it will probably cost 3.50 per ounce of marijuana.... add 50 or even 100 dollars in taxes, i'd definitely be willing to spend 103.50 for an ounce of good weed.
black market would still be illegal, you don't see people brewing their own beer and selling it on the corner, that's still illegal.. you would need a proper license, so it wouldn't drive the black market down... plus the stuff that comes from mexico is terrible anyways, i'd rather pay taxes on some quality herbs
You only need a license to sell beer not to brew it...It's fine to brew it, NOT HARD ALCOHOL ONLY BEER!!!
The license to sell any alcohol is like $250,000 and to make hard liquor it's probably over a million... That's why it's hard to open a bar... Takes a very good plan!
Yah, that's absolutely right. Home brewing is legal but not selling it without a license. Yet, you still don't see people selling it on the streets. If they legalized growing for personal use, it would be the same.
The only reason a club sell $103 a quarter is because the black market... They don't want you to buy from clubs and sell on streets...So they charge an extra 1.5% tax on cannabis products and charge around 50 an eight. $20-30 for a gram of hash..
black market source. The only way the black market will disappear completely is if there is no nitch for organized crime to benefit from. If weed costs five times as the illegal source, the black market will still be there.
there is a demand for illicit substances... so the cartels supply.
it's like any monopoly, once you introduce competition, the cartels would start to suffer.
besides, who would be willing to go to the "shady" part of town to pick up drugs when you can go to your local corner store and get something you KNOW is safe? they both would get you the high but with one you're not risking your life and you'd be paying less.
Yah, and cocaine enthusiasts could even choose to buy fair trade, organic cocaine, instead of the stuff manufactured by oppressive drug lords that use gasoline as a solvent in the refining process.
I want to thank all of those who have protected our society and have realized the insanity of the drug war. Your career is full of threats, and to come out against the Drug War takes honest courage, with nothing to gain but freedom from guilt.
I too long for the day that the law enforcer and the citizen both trust one another again, and the compact is restored.
I never wanted to thank a law enforcement officer more than this one. Thank you Sir for your courage and your honesty and may you be blessed with peace.

I find it kinda sad that it took discrimination in order for this guy to hate prohibition...
Would he be making a speech simular to this one, if his task force DID raid wealthier neighborhoods?
I doubt it, and prohibition wouldn't be any better..

What have those agencies (ACLU & ACORN) done to stop prohibiton or reduce the amount of minorities in prison?
Boost LEAP ... not them.

(i would like to add something to this comment)
I couldn't support aclu because they seem to HATE the idea of citizens owning guns..
So, since my biggest concern with this nation is the war on drugs, I would rather support an organization that ONLY fights that...
If they get into to many issues, I cannot side with them on EVERYTHING.
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
Should call it the WOP (War On People) or Prohibition.
btw..I am Italian b4 you start w racist comments ;)
To still refer to it as a WOD is just assinine. Especially so if you are on video trying to educate people.
btw FUCK ACORN and the ACLU

That would be SOMETHING though..
Because how would they distinquish blackmarket pot from "legit" pot?
Even if they demand a receipt (or something along those lines) one could buy a ounce from a "legit" source, ONCE and just carry the receipt.
And perhaps as the time goes by, the tax would get smaller and smaller.
thefakeyeti 2 years ago
I hear that..
It is a no brainer that if they are going to tax the bejezus out of it.. ppl will still grow it despite laws.

I am not disputing that the cost the GROWER is going to charge you for will decrease..
BUT..
With this inflation of cost, it would do next to nothing for the black market..
Would you rather by from a legit source for 103.50..
Or from a black market source for 20$?
Though, it probably would cut down the violence in mexico..
I can see it doing better then it does NOW.. however I don't see it collecting as much money as predicted with this high tax..
