best album ever. period. you can never get sick of it. I will go through times where I am not in the mood to listen to anything then I see this album and ALWAYS throw it in. Im never going to stretch my shape... to be with you. I never going long for life the way you do...im never going to push/put you out cuz your not in! This will only take awhile cuz I only want to be your Saturday Savior. Thank you Failure and Ken Andrews! This is my favorite song. So sexy...
@mattmpt Why are the words "paragraph" and "music" in quotes? Why are you inferring that I think albums can be produced in a day? I produce music every single day. What do you know about me? You're looking for shit that isn't there as a way of working out your own issues. Stop trolling. Find something constructive to do.
Such a good song. My name is Jack Woodward. I've spent the past few years churning out music as fast as possible. Most cats record an album a year and call it a day. They deliberate on the shit that they're going to do before hand and deface the initial inspiration of the music into obliteration. I try to capture the moment of conception. I don't question what I'm being told, I just write it down. Check out my music videos to hear the songs I conceived in this fashion.
@bassgod89 yeah you're impressing everybody there Jack, the bass god. Are you suggesting people that release 1 album a year are doing it in a day? Because you are sorely naive and misguided. And if that 'paragraph' is any representation of your 'music', i'll pass.
joemc83 you are my hero. Thank you for posting this live show. I probobly will never ever get to see them live. The sick thing in my head is it was around this time; I just discovered them...and bam...Gone. -_-
i was born during the wrong time musically!!!! i was seven when this concert happened and i would have loved to be there!!!! doesnt get much better than seeing a group like failure at a small venue like this i can imagine.
i was born in the wrong time, i would have loved to see these guys live!!!! it doesnt get much better than this!!!! damn!!! I was seven when this concert happened!!!!
i can't believe there's almost no one at this show... and speaking of tunings, i play this song on drop B flat... i guess it works on different settings all the same...
I'll say this here where true fans of failure are...
The stuck on you video is now full of debate on wether paramore is better than failure....
When i was a kid i thought stuck on you was about being in love or liking a jingle but listen to the second verse I know it's a metaphor for another thing... that subtle double meaning is very satisfying.
should be a no brainer that those kids in paramore have nothing on Ken Andrews. they can only hope to aspire to a microgram of talent from his ballsac and it still wouldn't be enough.
wait...scratch that. same chords, different placement. make shape of an e-chord starting on the low e-string at fret 4 (so it should be 4 4 3). this is your Db chord. then go to B (2 2 1). then E (7 7 6), then D (5 5 4). i'm pretty sure this is exactly how they play it.
What show is this from? date? I listened to these guys when this album came out and always assumed from Stuck On You that they must draw a huge crowd. They even already had that album Magnified before this one.
haha long story short, what's the date and location of this show? thanks.
I love failure, I think a big reason they didn't blow up the way their music suggested they should have, is this video. Their live show left alot to be desired. Ken Andrews has a great voice, just the band has no stage presence....and with people being so ADD, they kind of fell flat.
joemc83,... i'm up somewhere in the front, to the left, and cannot believe that this is on youtube. so surreal. this is one of my most cherished of live performances that i have ever witnessed, firsthand, and i would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting what I (in other words, a personal opinion of mine... don't freak the phuk out people) consider "occupationally" THE buddy holly/james dean of modern rock which IMO runs from about the later half of the 1980s to today.
it's insane to me that these guys got left in the dust. they're almost like grunge perfected, the peak and pinnacle of the style (that's a lot of 'P's) if one considers them to be 'grunge'. and unlike many of their contemporaries, there's not a hint of phoniness, hamminess, or sell-outery in their sound or their presence.
imagine the direction late '90s music could have gone, had failure caught on...
"the music business is a cruel and shallow money trench. a long, plastic hallway where pimps and thieves run free and good men die like dogs...there's also a dark side."
--Hunter S. Thompson
failure was one of those bands that that never received the attention they deserved.
every song and sound on both of their albums was honed to perfection and distinctly their own, sounding just as a failure song should. i get a certain feeling and mood i get no where else when i listen to their music.
no doubt, Failure was the most overlooked rock/grunge bands of the 90s.. but their fans appreciate their stature/talent in 90s rock.. they remind me of the Misfits, in the sense that when I was a kid in the early & mid 80s, I only knew one guy who cared about them, even tho' their albums were killer, but as time passed they got exposure (with a lot of help from Metallica) and other people realized how good they were,.. it'll come for Failure, but who knows when ~
@deth15 Both of their albums? They had 3: Comfort, Magnified, and Fantastic Planet. Also look for The Replicants CD, a disc of cover tunes from the Failure era recorded by members of Failure and Tool. They put their own quirky twist (or twisted quirks?) on each of the songs and they chose great ones to cover.
the official Failure tribute album comes out this summer! It's called "The Nurse Who Loved Me". search failure tribute on myspace music. I got to cover "Muffled Snaps" on the album. I am stoked!
Greatest band of all time, I got to see them once right before they broke up, and I was already in love with them. I was 17 and my life changed that day.
these videos you've posted are really special and i want to thank the poster. Really reminds me of high school and old times. Words can't describe how cool this band is.
Man i love this band. None of them are dead or anything; they should really get back together. I reckon they'd sell out a lot of places if they toured again.
I listen to Fantastic Planet everyday-- keeps me happy, healthy, sane. I don't know what I'd do without it.
And also... Ken's glasses <3
