My guess is they never heard of red flag back in 1951
holy crap that was a massive accident, some of them cars just skidded a little and flipped and knowbody slowed down so there was more crashes lol!!

They did not have radios (for the cars) or spotters back then, and with over 100 cars in the race, I think it's understandable that such a huge crash can occur
