  • I went to your website, it's hard to read, brown background, black lettering. Liked your video, most videos focus on the method of using flint and steel, a faris rod or bow drill, you focused on the importance of the "prep" work, this needed to be covered.

  • A match? You used a fricking match? Pull the railroad flare out of your back pocket and use it!

  • someone PLEASE make a video how to light a fire with a flamethrower, since matches and flamethrowers are equally easy to fine when you are prepared

  • That way looks very easy and self-sustaining

  • In England we have the same thing it goes a bit like this.

    1. collect your tinder and kindling

    2. pick up dead and fallen wood, lay it all out in your clearing.

    3. light a small manageable fire

    4. police turn up because some dog walking coward snitched

The End, i'm moving to Canada.

  • @misternylon Wow, is it really that bad over there?

  • @gcbarone Bad is not the word, it is becoming almost unbearable as one more government after another erodes our civil liberties and freedom rights. Since I wrote that post 2 weeks ago, they have now announced 'selling off' Uk forests to private owners. I can see there being riots over this.

  • Finally, a straight forward video on how to make a fire. Thank you!

  • I've seen idiots at campsites that couldn't even light a fire with a match and gasoline. It's all in the technique.

  • @nesbitt615 so true...

  • This is one to write down, memorize well, and practice much!

  • Very nice never knew thus techneque........

    But..

What if u don't have a liter or match

  • Cool vid, I love foggy mtn breakdown

  • my favorite song

  • very well said!

  • good video, just one tip though, perfect BUT add a platform on the bottom (base) to protect your tinder from wet cold ground, it also adds fuel for later on, and allows airflow for lighting the flame. 5/5

  • I've never seen that technique, cool!

  • nice music...

  • Great instructional video. I would have to agree with others that it is the best I have seen. Thanks.

  • The best I've seen yet!

  • Ubutu Mawengwe

  • Great video. I'm going to show this to the kids I take camping with me.

  • lol

  • awesome video!!! helped a lot!!!

  • Good fire layout, simple and effective. Great explanation of why it works. Will try this next time I'm out, instead of the tepee method of building the fire. Also will see which method works best on damp or icy wood.

    Great vid

  • same.

  • Good vid 5/5 for novices. One suggestion would have been contigency planning, wet muddy ground etc. e.g.

  • WOW! That uses the same mechanics as a wood gasification stove (and you don't have to haul a can to do it). Excellent method, 5 *'s!

  • Nice way to lay the fire. Thanks.

  • It's hard to find a piece of flint in the wilds. Easy to find a piece of quartz. Use a carbon steel knife blade, not stainless it won't work, and scrap the quartz. You got sparks. Find a pine tree, easy they are everywhere in the wilds, and collect some pine resin. Resin is full of terpines, flamable stuff. Resin, dried pine needles, scrap some sparks on it, and you got fire. Not just fire, but really hot fire from the terpines. Be careful as the terpines drip hot flames.

  • Good video

  • Great video, very informative!

    Thanks!

  • all u need to do is bring a lighter and a couple of cotton balls and u got urself some very very good and trusty fire lighting source.

  • But if you lost one day you will be out of lighter and cotton.

  • no, if im gonna go in the forest im obivously gonna have it on me.

  • Anyone know what this tune is? or any similar stuff that i can download cheers!

  • hey man im not sure but i think its by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs or somethin

  • That is exactly who it is the song is called "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" Blues tinted Bluegrass.

  • what if no matches is near?

  • bow drill.. or hand drill

  • this guy is awsome he explains stuff sooo well

  • what if u didn't have a match -.-

  • im sure you're smart enough to figure that one out, use your brain mate

  • So then maybe just bring both. Could you even to a tutorial on how to create a fire using a bow, I'm confused about that.

  • Smart enough to bring matches into the woods. No flint & striker needed! Simple & easy too, gotta love it.

  • Until you fall into a river, your matches are ruined, and all of a sudden you can't start a fire. I've had waterproof match holders fill with water after accidents like that.

  • there is such things as strike any where water proof matches or just get a flint steel rod that works good

  • Very simple to follow instructions. A lot better than what I've been doing (struggling with). :)

    Can't wait to try it.

  • Pretty good video.

    Good instructions

  • Wow... That looks so easy. and really cool. :)

  • I like this method a lot! good clear instruction, well put together and easy to follow! A+++

  • the best basic fire making skills video on the web

  • nicely said!

  • Good stuff. I will try this technique next time Im camping.

  • thought this would instruct me on how to make a fire without matches etc but you know good tips anywho

  • AWSOME VIDEO!

  • I tried your method yesterday and it worked brilliantly! Cheers!

  • Great video; thanks for the instructions!

  • good job and thanks i was having a hard time keeping my fire going, and u help me solve my problem!

  • Cool idea using a support stick to keep the tinder breathing...It's good that you stressed gathering all the materials first BEFORE you light the fire.

  • nice going good job
