HI HARRYWARNER, YOU'VE BROUGHT SMILES TO MY FACE WITH THIS POSTING! HAVEN'T HEARD IT IN M--A--N--Y Y--E--A--R--S!!! BE WELL AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU. TOM D.BRICK,NJ. {AT THE SHORE}.
This is one of the best groups from the past. I seen them in concert about 10 times while living in NJ. They sang to perfection. Thanks for posting this.
Classic New York doo wop that reached down here to Houston's eastside. I used to play this record over and over again as a young kid back in the early 60s. Thanks, Harry. The memories brought a smile to my face.
1961 was a great year for me..this is one of my very favorites..Had a really hard time remembering who sang this song..and PJ...a dear friend..read my lyrics..and vavoom..he knew..what a classic guy..PJ and what a classic doo wop song..thank you for sharing
These guys had to be the best if not second best doo-wop band ever to have existed, they should've done more, i cant think of one song they did that didnt quite cut it for me
I get chills when i hear this song. I was a little boy when this was out. That sound could never ever be duplicated. One of the best vocals groups EVER......
being a brit i am discovering new doowop groups all the time but the jive five i had already heard of eugene pitt is one of the all time greats of the genre he is in my top ten next to the great jimmy weston of danleers fame cheers man!!!!!
this is a real represention of what doowop should sound like this is really good just gotta love it the lead as an amzing voice eugene pitt rocks!!!!!
If a million years from now there exists an audio encyclopedia and the word doo wop is searched - this record could easily be listed as a top representation of the genre.
OOH My God, this song is one of the best love songs I have ever heard. Thanks to you for posting and to all who enjoy it as much as I do. I think you deleted me by mistake the first time I wrote to you. Take Care....
This was the very first 45 rpm I ever bought. (Cost $1.00!!) And the flipside was "People From Another World." From the bottom of my heart, thank you for posting this!!! Peace to you and yours.......
I appreciate your nice note. It makes it all worth while knowing there are people who feel so strongly about the music and the way it affected their lives so many years ago.
Eugene Pitt and the Jive Five are one of the most legendary doo wop groups from the early 1960s. You'll be glad to know that the Jive Five still appear at oldies shows here in the USA and Eugene sounds as great as he ever did.
You're right! This song, Never, Never, is a better song than their big hit My True Story. This is definitely their best record. This is one tremendous sound. Thank you for posting it.
Just can't go wrong with the Jive 5 and Eugene Pitt. This was the follow-up to "My True Story" in 1961. Although it only reached #74 on Billboard's pop charts, nothing, and I do mean nothing, can take away from the beauty of this recording, from the vocals to the musical accompaniment. A masterpiece in vocal group harmony!
It's hard to believe this record only made it to #74 on the charts. As good as "My True Story" is, for my money "Never, Never is best record the Jive Five ever made.

I can't thank you enough for posting this. It's one of my favorites. All of my 45s were lost in a natural disaster.
You've really given me something by posting this.

Eugene Pitt & the Jive Five also sang for the Nickelodeon jingle from 1984 (or 85?) to 1991.

I loved this very under rated song. It should have been a much bigger hit.

The group harmony sounds from that era, prior to the British Invasion, was simply the best music ever recorded.

I'm glad you agree. I would put it in the top 10 of the greatest doo wop recordings ever made. It's the personification of the perfect doo wop song.
