A very stiff way of playing Mozart. All that humming in the background dosen't belong in this sonata. Sometimes interesting when he turns every interpretation up side down, but it is not of any musical value.
if bach had only done this or mozart done that, and if .................this is pure genius attached to 8 fingers and 2 thumbs. just pure genius....it is what it is......amazing! This man sits at the keys and they ask him, " what shall we play for you today Master"

Some pianists do "sleep on the pedal" for this piece, but I think this has too much stacatto. I am not a Mozart purist; I just don't like Gould's interpretations.
MASTER ! again I heard so many so...s in other masterpiece through the "sound-X Ray..." of GREAT GOULD ! And I just LOVE his adorable humor on interpretations...SO CLASSY ! GENIUS !
I find his staccato almost heroic. Never liked the many pianists who sleep on the pedal and think pedal means expression. And move their heads accordingly. Viva Gould the purist!
(Pienso yo, obvio).
@kv310 No. The piano cannot have real legato, as each key pressed presents an attack. Thus it is not necessarily a wrong concept to associate it more with staccato.
Although Gould's Mozart often is considered to be blasphemic, especiacially the highly original interpretation of KV 457 reveales the genius of Glen Gould. Beautiful!
Superb - love his little additions. The staccato in the left hand adds real character. Can certainly tell how Mozart was influenced by Bach, even in his later works.
He should have done like Jeno Jando put an unlit cigarette in his mouth to be able to shut up while playing. He plays it really well I think.

I dont really like the part from 401 to 409. The left hand is kind of too heavy, I think.

@8182lydia you're right. It's pretty unpleasant.

@silverbud I love Glenn Gould, but purist? are you out of your mind? Gould was a virtuoso bagpipes player before a purist!
