BUT! There is one thing that i don't like about them.... they don't come with enough programs!!! ... I mean who would pay $800 for just 256 sounds?! Come On!! Does any know if Oasys can do better than Radias? I m saying that because Oasys is an (Oasis of sound and vocal effect and ........ ) I didnt had the chance to use any of them... and i cant tell... So if anyone knows.... please give me a reply! ;)
@Crysis9800 people's opinion differ a lot, there's no way to trust someone else's opinion on an equipment, unless for technical aspects as quality of parts, defects or whatever. There were many pieces of gear I read about back in the day that when I played them I though they were not as good. It's like a car, you have to drive it and see if you like it really.
So guys, I know how to play the (piano) (keyboards) very little cause i have a Yamaha PSS-26 since i was 5!! I know how to play many songs...manyyyy soooongs... but the my Yamaha's plastic sound doesn't help me!! KORG was the fact that i want to play keyboards and i want so much to have one.. A X50 for example would be just great for me..
If money wasn't an issue this is the synth vocoder I would buy in a heartbeat & I have done a lot of homework. This is the future right here. One day you WILL be mine!
this silver box is a synth! wiki it. the radias is a wicked synth. its capable of tons more than the rep is showing you; he's just playing the presets- just generic patches. you can't record audio to the radias- its a SYNTH not a SAMPLER. when he records his voice it isnt audio he's recording, he's using his voice as a formant for a synth tone (wiki it). no loops.just a step sequencer and Arp. if you have money to get one at least give the manual a read to get the basics, its all in there guys!!
@killcafemusic : i have the radias it does actually record the audio onto it. You can't hack up the audio (ie as a drum kit), and it only really does one sound at a time, but it is recorded nonetheless. BUt yes, this recording is used as a formant for the vocoder.
how can you record loops and layer different parts on the radias? also, when i have a drum pattern playing in the background how to you get the oscillator not to cut out the drums? the beat gets really quiet half the time? thanks a lot
@ImmaGonnaEatYouUp no record audio function on microkorg, its just a synth get a loop pedal /sampler to do this or just get a computer! hope that makes sense
So whats so great here? All those sounds would be easy enough to produce on a vst... Why would I want something like this studio wise? It seems to be more focused on live capability. Any recommendations for something good for in the studio and cheap?
Definitely better than the m3. The M3 only has about 10 buttons and a few sliders, is pathetic. This one looks more like a real synth for true players.
Knobs & buttons are for the uninitiated as well as for looks. The M3 can program its Kaoss pad for the same functions as well as the sliders as well as the internal screen functions but you would have to be able to read the manual for that. You can obtain a Radias board for the M3 and be able to use KARMA and hundreds more PCM sounds. You also have nearly five times the polyphony. The Vocoder on the M3 is at least as good as the Radias with several more programs and pattern functions.
I can fit a six pack on that rack, and then spill it all over my sheit. THis thing makes me want to sell my analog dumper for extra funds for this thing. THis sounds like it kicks the ms2000s ass into the ground, although I'm still waiting for it to sound as ugly and mean.
harness the power of the anus.....GAY. Ummm, it is possible to get part of this deal for only 1100 bucks, the keyboard and the knob-diddly doodie. thats a copyright...
well cheapest/easiest synth would be microkorg. i dont know the cheapest sampler, but in my opinion the best would be the kaoss pad 3 from korg, it is spectacular
because i like the way they mesh with each other well. i find that when you bring together great components from one producer, you get a system in which to work on, that is as if you are play one giant KorgSystem.... i also intend my Roland "Creature" in the future. It will be all roland (303, 909, Jupiter 4, i might have to consider Moog and break the roland patters but moog is the only exception.)
I got a used one at Guitar Center for $200....excellent deal cuz it was basicaly brand new, it was a floor model so they had to sell it to me as used. Still smells new. haha anyway this thing is amazing, I've had it for more than a year now and I still haven't tapped it's full potential because there is just so much you can do with it. I will admit it's a little daunting though. They went with the "you can do anything with this" concept rather than the "this is easy" design. lol it rocks though!

I just sold my MicroKorgXL because I realized I have a problem with the real time controls being on the right-hand side of the keyboard, so you have to cross hands, like a drummer.
I had no real problems with the sound quality, so I have no reason not to upgrade to the Radias keyboard (I'll miss the portability of the MK-XL)
OR should I buy a virus TI SNOW? (problem is, those desk-top modules are difficult to mount on a single shelf of a stand, with a midi-controller)
Where is the best store in Europe where you can buy Korgs?Any idea? This guy said that is 1700$, that's about 1150 euro, but in my country I can purchase it for no less then 1900euro.Ideas, anyone, please?
Some guy just game me a live demo at Sam Ash and referred to what this video calls timbres here as layers, and as he explained it.... each timbre has its own set of parameter and sequencer/arp memory.
you have any works in progress going? im just getting into it as well. i'd like to hear.
I have just a couple things, nothing special. i recorded a small melody last night for the first time and i've just downloaded fruity loops mainly just to twittle around with ha
For the old synths like the mini moog, all of the available electronics (sections) on the synth - these include the envelopes, filters, sequencers, effects etc - could be used to program a particular sound or timbre. The newer synths can play multiple timbres - settings of the envelope, filters oscillators etc - at a time to create one saved program patch or "Voice"
i wish i could find a music store who has one. it does make some cool sounds. it does require a bit of knowledge to use effectively . it can make some really annoying sounds too.
yeah i got one and most of the presets are shit lol. most preset ones with voice over says something gay about it like, harness the power of radias. anyone know how to record voice over a step sequence message me :)
people who are great with synths are not necessarily the best keyboardists (although of course there are many who are). It takes as long to master synth programming as it does to learn the piano. Just delete all your presets, read the manual, and your journey will begin.
PCM is pulse code modulation, that's basically digital sample synthesis. The Roland D-50 and the Korg Wavestation used PCM samples. No idea about DSP though.
You forgot to mention the USB dongle to make it work at all. Or did only law-abiding purchasers of the Korg Legacy Digital Edition get stiffed with that hassle and humiliation?
Can the timbres be assigned to different midi channels? Could I theoretically have 4 midi controllers plugged into the rack, controlling each individual timbre? (or more usefully, 2 with a split on each)
Heeey Zenmachinefilms. hm i think i have a pretty good buget to buy one, and im I'm new to electronic music, so i chose between Soundtrack or Rock... Analog, Virtual Analog, Workstation - hm can you explain the differents please^^
Ps... im sorry if for my bad english ^^
and yes it's inportant thesynth can interface with my computer - i would like to put the music im playing into the computer so i can make my own CD
i don't like knobs they break, I have knobapheobia the fear of breaking cheep knobs off, how deep and strong are the knobs? a wiggle knob makes me think I might get shocked or the knob will break off and I would loose control of what I was doing and if the knob rolls across the floor it could hide under something and ruin my vacuum cleaner or I would step on it bare footed ....na this is cool synth.
I do not know anything about keyboards, can someone explain to me in non-technical terms what a midi is. I am purchasing this korg radius with the keyboard, will I need a midi, what would that be for? As well would I use a lorg kaoss pad with this instrument? Thanks.
midi lets the instruments send information to eachother... you'll need some cables to use the pad to control the synth or i think to make the keyboard control the radias but i don't have a radias
This is a response to Sawyer's comment which although I agree with, it's so boring and loses it's fun just using programs and the mouse instead of a hardware computer combination. Anyone else agree with me here?
I used mostly software up until a few years ago, then switched more and more to actual hardware. I started out with a D50, now I have a Virus TI, Monomachine, Radias, KP3, MPC1000... - there's definitely something to having an actual box on your desk vs. working on a screen. This is true even though most synths today are, in reality, just software running on some DSP. Anyway, opinions differ.
On an unrelated note: If you like trackers but want MIDI and VST compatibility, ReNoise rocks. ;)
With software synthesis you're not limited to anything, you can download VST plugins for even more sounds =] You can even replicate analog synth sounds using software synthesis. (By all this I mean using a computer)
If you have a perfect ear for music and pitches, there is a logical reason for black keys being played, for instance C# and F# both sound 'sweeter' than say Bflat.
Its to do with temperament and the harmonic series.
You know, it looks and sounds like a very cool machine. However, I really wish it would be demonstrated by a "real" keyboardist, not some guy who knows, as already pointed out, how to push just the black keys. In other words, REALLY PLAY THE SILLY THING!
I dont mean any disrespect my silly comments might shut down Keyboard sales by %50 I love synths and the nature of music artist make on them Gary Wright I called it Cosmic blues Gary Wright was the best with moog and still keep it pure in his lyric and song comp the moog did not play Gary he plyed it.
can you record in it for your wife say I am telling you the truth please listen to me I not lieing and then play it to her cause my wife can come back real fast with her real voice...and disagree...say I told you once in the key of am and then tweek it and phase it out with style...and win her over...got to have one of these.
.. or how about spliff rolling machine (complete with weed) that slides out of the left side panel (a bit like Jimmy Savells chair all those years ago) that presents a perfectly formed dutch cigar ??
hey i'm thinkin of gettin one, cos i'm intersted in makin my own stuff, but i have no idea how to play, should i still get one or have a practice first?

Hey guys im looking to buy a korg radias rack and i wanted to know if i can use it with logic pro 8.
Also would i still have all the sounds that the radias delivers?
and would it add allot to my logic sounds?
Someone plz answer me THANK YOU.
MBProductions3 3 years ago
It will add you vocoder , and Korg Radius is 4 part , which means can play 4x different instruments.

can someone recommend a nice synth?
pondobabba 3 years ago
What kind of synth? Analog? Virtual Analog? Workstation?
What kind of music are you looking at playing? Trance? Soundtrack? Rock? Country?!
How important is it that your synth can interface with your computer?
Finally, what's your budget?
PM me if you wish. I can try to answer more questions.

i don't like knobs they break, I have knobapheobia the fear of breaking cheep knobs off, how deep and strong are the knobs? a wiggle knob makes me think I might get shocked or the knob will break off and I would loose control of what I was doing and if the knob rolls across the floor it could hide under something and ruin my vacuum cleaner or I would step on it bare footed ....na this is cool synth.
fromthispoint 3 years ago
*lol* this really made me laugh. but man...it's a korg....they aren't really cheap built from what i experienced.

dude It was a joke, I like this Korg,

I do not know anything about keyboards, can someone explain to me in non-technical terms what a midi is. I am purchasing this korg radius with the keyboard, will I need a midi, what would that be for? As well would I use a lorg kaoss pad with this instrument? Thanks.
colourmemory 3 years ago
midi lets the instruments send information to eachother... you'll need some cables to use the pad to control the synth or i think to make the keyboard control the radias but i don't have a radias

Dude,i can do all that with FL studio 7...:D
SawyerFord09 4 years ago 2
awesome you use FL too!? Sweet. It's very under rated. With the right VST's, you can do anything in FL just as well as other programs.
residentevilrulz 4 years ago
hah hah hah..
damn right bruh'!!!
throatache 4 years ago
now all you have to do is actually pay for your copy and you'll be set
TenThousandFeetTall 3 years ago
yeah, I suppose limewire will be the solution of many a home studio.
Biopharmer 3 years ago
This is a response to Sawyer's comment which although I agree with, it's so boring and loses it's fun just using programs and the mouse instead of a hardware computer combination. Anyone else agree with me here?
monnie110 3 years ago 3
I used mostly software up until a few years ago, then switched more and more to actual hardware. I started out with a D50, now I have a Virus TI, Monomachine, Radias, KP3, MPC1000... - there's definitely something to having an actual box on your desk vs. working on a screen. This is true even though most synths today are, in reality, just software running on some DSP. Anyway, opinions differ.
On an unrelated note: If you like trackers but want MIDI and VST compatibility, ReNoise rocks. ;)
blackmuzzle 3 years ago
so analogue is better than software then? I'm new to electronic music...
Dithulusutsamotho 3 years ago
Listen and decide for your own, everyone likes a different type of sound...
sudnaidu 3 years ago
With software synthesis you're not limited to anything, you can download VST plugins for even more sounds =] You can even replicate analog synth sounds using software synthesis. (By all this I mean using a computer)
EchoAudio 3 years ago
yes analogue IS better!
strongbowisnice 3 years ago
Riiiight.
NotReallyFailure 3 years ago
If you have a perfect ear for music and pitches, there is a logical reason for black keys being played, for instance C# and F# both sound 'sweeter' than say Bflat.
Its to do with temperament and the harmonic series.
Then again... lol
xesionprince 4 years ago
hey at least he knows more about instruments than anybody who works at guitar center :)
glitchesandglitter 4 years ago
You know, it looks and sounds like a very cool machine. However, I really wish it would be demonstrated by a "real" keyboardist, not some guy who knows, as already pointed out, how to push just the black keys. In other words, REALLY PLAY THE SILLY THING!
trux04 4 years ago
that guy sure likes to play black keys, and only the black keys ;)

im so impressed by all the things that i don't know about synths
BIGMikeYEAH 4 years ago
I dont mean any disrespect my silly comments might shut down Keyboard sales by %50 I love synths and the nature of music artist make on them Gary Wright I called it Cosmic blues Gary Wright was the best with moog and still keep it pure in his lyric and song comp the moog did not play Gary he plyed it.

can you record in it for your wife say I am telling you the truth please listen to me I not lieing and then play it to her cause my wife can come back real fast with her real voice...and disagree...say I told you once in the key of am and then tweek it and phase it out with style...and win her over...got to have one of these.

could you add a coffee maker to that or a bun warmer? I like to eat to the beat.

.. or how about spliff rolling machine (complete with weed) that slides out of the left side panel (a bit like Jimmy Savells chair all those years ago) that presents a perfectly formed dutch cigar ??
xesionprince 4 years ago
hey i'm thinkin of gettin one, cos i'm intersted in makin my own stuff, but i have no idea how to play, should i still get one or have a practice first?
ohbor 4 years ago
