  • Korg products are great. i've had a good experience so far with them.....

BUT! There is one thing that i don't like about them.... they don't come with enough programs!!! ... I mean who would pay $800 for just 256 sounds?! Come On!! So i hope in the future these guys will make keyboards that hopefully are worth buying. Remember we are not Jordan Rudess that has a lot of money... he can pay $3000 for a Kronos but some of us can't.

P.S. Jordan Is My favorite keyboardist. don't misjudge me...

  • this looks so fucking cooool man I really wanna get into this equipment but man its exspensive :\

  • Does any know if Oasys can do better than Radias? I m saying that because Oasys is an (Oasis of sound and vocal effect and ........ ) I didnt had the chance to use any of them... and i cant tell... So if anyone knows.... please give me a reply! ;)

    thanks

  • @Crysis9800 people's opinion differ a lot, there's no way to trust someone else's opinion on an equipment, unless for technical aspects as quality of parts, defects or whatever. There were many pieces of gear I read about back in the day that when I played them I though they were not as good. It's like a car, you have to drive it and see if you like it really.

  • So guys, I know how to play the (piano) (keyboards) very little cause i have a Yamaha PSS-26 since i was 5!! This keyboard has tiny keys that are too small for my huge finegers... but it is not the case that i m not good enough at keyboards... I know how to play many songs...manyyyy soooongs... but the my Yamaha's plastic sound doesn't help me!! KORG was the fact that i want to play keyboards and i want so much to have one.. A X50 for example would be just great for me..

  • WOW ... I have to have one of these ..... IMMEDIATELY

  • is the sequencer easy and fun to use?

  • BULLSHIT All this crap about "modeling", and the suckers fall for it. what a joke.

  • @gingervytis o my fucking god, you again? You dont stop do you. Stop commenting on radias videos unless your going to have a valid argument. Idiot.

  • how much is it?

  • @raphipik about £1000

  • its a good synth for the price

  • Wow ! Finally, it's a material for the music oriented electro. Ideal for drum n bass. Really cool.

  • Comment removed

  • lolz silver Kaoss pad. i wish i had the new one :/

  • @harryfillpot666 Its KP2

  • HARNESS THE POWER OF RADIAS !

  • If money wasn't an issue this is the synth vocoder I would buy in a heartbeat & I have done a lot of homework. This is the future right here. One day you WILL be mine!

  • the korg radias rack is the same caracteristics that the korg radias????

  • this silver box is a synth! wiki it. the radias is a wicked synth. its capable of tons more than the rep is showing you; he's just playing the presets- just generic patches. you can't record audio to the radias- its a SYNTH not a SAMPLER. when he records his voice it isnt audio he's recording, he's using his voice as a formant for a synth tone (wiki it). no loops.just a step sequencer and Arp. if you have money to get one at least give the manual a read to get the basics, its all in there guys!!

  • @killcafemusic : i have the radias it does actually record the audio onto it. You can't hack up the audio (ie as a drum kit), and it only really does one sound at a time, but it is recorded nonetheless. BUt yes, this recording is used as a formant for the vocoder.

  • how can you record loops and layer different parts on the radias? also, when i have a drum pattern playing in the background how to you get the oscillator not to cut out the drums? the beat gets really quiet half the time? thanks a lot

  • Radias may be cool, I don't know, but is it just me or is this guy playing terrible music?

  • oh its nothing nvm

  • what is that silver box?

  • Hey, can you record on the microkorg vocoder and use it as a basis for your song on the microkorg ?

  • @ImmaGonnaEatYouUp no record audio function on microkorg, its just a synth get a loop pedal /sampler to do this or just get a computer! hope that makes sense

  • this guy is so nervous its painful

  • @rnwepc seems fine to me. good presenter actually. i think maybe you're so cynical it's painful.

  • So whats so great here? All those sounds would be easy enough to produce on a vst... Why would I want something like this studio wise? It seems to be more focused on live capability. Any recommendations for something good for in the studio and cheap?

  • This unit is a waste on money. You can do everything it does better with VSTs. But if you like expensive toys then...

  • Definitely better than the m3. The M3 only has about 10 buttons and a few sliders, is pathetic. This one looks more like a real synth for true players.

  • It is obvious you are basing all this on looks alone.

  • Knobs & buttons are more than looks.

  • Knobs & buttons are for the uninitiated as well as for looks. The M3 can program its Kaoss pad for the same functions as well as the sliders as well as the internal screen functions but you would have to be able to read the manual for that. You can obtain a Radias board for the M3 and be able to use KARMA and hundreds more PCM sounds. You also have nearly five times the polyphony. The Vocoder on the M3 is at least as good as the Radias with several more programs and pattern functions.

  • you are right dude..... but these knobs make it easy to use and on the fly...... but your right.

  • I can fit a six pack on that rack, and then spill it all over my sheit. THis thing makes me want to sell my analog dumper for extra funds for this thing. THis sounds like it kicks the ms2000s ass into the ground, although I'm still waiting for it to sound as ugly and mean.

  • harness the power of the anus.....GAY. Ummm, it is possible to get part of this deal for only 1100 bucks, the keyboard and the knob-diddly doodie. thats a copyright...

  • too bad none of these japs can't create an inexpensive multipurpose synth that does it all for 500. they'd have a bigger market.

  • what's so great about it then? tell me, we're all dying to know.

  • LOOKS PRETTY FUCKING LAME.

too big first of all. too complicated second and all that other shit needs to be built in. no sampler, totally worhless.

shitty demo trance music, that shit died in 99.

    electro-wave is where it's at

"keyboards and synths should be simplisitc and easy to use"--daniel miller(creator of the band depeche mode)

  • Wow, you just completely shut down a synth, according to you, this is a worthless synth wihout ANY decent features! Amazing!

  • go look at the Korg Oasys..... :)

  • it looks a lot better than this trash heap.

but what is the price? should be no more than 500$.

  • HAHA! noooo no no. its sticker price is $8000 but worth it. its a complete studio. watch Jordan Rudess

  • what a waste of money. no one's going to pay that in this economy.

i'd rather buy some vintage german synths or werkstations instead of some japanese overpriced clone for (laughs)8 grand.

  • well, until you've played one, you cant even imagine the things its capable of.. but i do agree 8000 is really steep.

  • just curious, in your opinion what would be the cheapest sampler/synth on the market right now?

something that can do it all, is incredibly easy to use/figure out, but is still dirt cheap.

  • well cheapest/easiest synth would be microkorg. i dont know the cheapest sampler, but in my opinion the best would be the kaoss pad 3 from korg, it is spectacular

  • why only korgs?

  • because i like the way they mesh with each other well. i find that when you bring together great components from one producer, you get a system in which to work on, that is as if you are play one giant KorgSystem.... i also intend my Roland "Creature" in the future. It will be all roland (303, 909, Jupiter 4, i might have to consider Moog and break the roland patters but moog is the only exception.)

    )sorry so long)

  • /watch?v=oQabeX7hPlU SCI Prophet VS + Pro-One + TR-808

  • yes! i love Retrosound.. they are my only subscription... :)

  • Nice demo, I want one for sure.

I'm a bit skeptical about that $200 floor model though! Wouldn't we all like one at that price.

  • Simply the most amazing.. Let me know how much (US$) for this amazing machine, I think this will work with Korg M3 61-key, right??

  • I got a used one at Guitar Center for $200....excellent deal cuz it was basicaly brand new, it was a floor model so they had to sell it to me as used. Still smells new. haha anyway this thing is amazing, I've had it for more than a year now and I still haven't tapped it's full potential because there is just so much you can do with it. I will admit it's a little daunting though. They went with the "you can do anything with this" concept rather than the "this is easy" design. lol it rocks though!

  • the sound on this vid doesnt do it a lot of justice to be fair, i bought one off my mate the other day for 200 quid, fin bargain! its been melting my mind trying to understand the thing though

  • Sorry, it just sounds like 1999 too me.

  • so witch synth sounds like 2009?

  • did anyone else thing it was to brittle? not warm enough?

  • Wonders never seen such technology.

  • Sweet Machine

  • hm sure it's a great synth but it sounds to digital to me. I miss the dirtiness...

  • I just sold my MicroKorgXL because I realized I have a problem with the real time controls being on the right-hand side of the keyboard, so you have to cross hands, like a drummer.

I had no real problems with the sound quality, so I have no reason not to upgrade to the Radias keyboard (I'll miss the portability of the MK-XL)

OR should I buy a virus TI SNOW? (problem is, those desk-top modules are difficult to mount on a single shelf of a stand, with a midi-controller)

    Or both!

  • Get Nord

  • I think you're right. I have a Nord electro 3 - a Wave would suit it down to the ground

  • But the nords another grand . . .

  • Where is the best store in Europe where you can buy Korgs?Any idea? This guy said that is 1700$, that's about 1150 euro, but in my country I can purchase it for no less then 1900euro.Ideas, anyone, please?

  • got one of these its awesome

  • can this "sound" analog?

  • What exactly is a timbre?

  • it has four layers you can use at once.

  • So a timbre is like a layer?... sorry if i sound stupid, i've just recently gotten into this kind of thing

  • Some guy just game me a live demo at Sam Ash and referred to what this video calls timbres here as layers, and as he explained it.... each timbre has its own set of parameter and sequencer/arp memory.

you have any works in progress going? im just getting into it as well. i'd like to hear.

  • Hmm i see.

I have just a couple things, nothing special. i recorded a small melody last night for the first time and i've just downloaded fruity loops mainly just to twittle around with ha

  • For the old synths like the mini moog, all of the available electronics (sections) on the synth - these include the envelopes, filters, sequencers, effects etc - could be used to program a particular sound or timbre. The newer synths can play multiple timbres - settings of the envelope, filters oscillators etc - at a time to create one saved program patch or "Voice"

  • eu quero ter um desse!!!!

  • The Radius is great, but this presentation is a little lame

  • OMG ! I must have this thing !! simply love it !!! :)

  • i wish i could find a music store who has one. it does make some cool sounds. it does require a bit of knowledge to use effectively . it can make some really annoying sounds too.

  • yeah i got one and most of the presets are shit lol. most preset ones with voice over says something gay about it like, harness the power of radias. anyone know how to record voice over a step sequence message me :)

  • that first PCM sound was seriously an amazing sound

  • It frustrates me that there is little skill required to play this thing. It seems more like a computer with lots of buttons than an instrument.

  • people who are great with synths are not necessarily the best keyboardists (although of course there are many who are). It takes as long to master synth programming as it does to learn the piano. Just delete all your presets, read the manual, and your journey will begin.

  • I didn't think of it that way. Good call.

  • @firehandszarb presets? they can be a great way for a beginner to learn. If you backwards engineer them rather than just using them that is.

  • Expensive, but so worth it.

  • SO....

ANALOG or VIRTUAL ANALOG? Because I just went on eBay and they claimed it was VIRTUAL ANALOG.

    Thanks.

  • DSP Analog Synthesizer = Virtual Analog.

  • wich synth is better for techno/house ? Radias or norlead2x

  • radias definately

  • insane shit

  • Low price

  • PCM

    DSP

    WTF?

    help lol

hahaha i only know about modular synthesis

and thats like old school moog and such

  • PCM is pulse code modulation, that's basically digital sample synthesis. The Roland D-50 and the Korg Wavestation used PCM samples. No idea about DSP though.

  • DSP - Digital Signal Processing

  • Yeah, basically DSP is like... Additional effects, SORTA like chorus?

  • This looks awesome! It's probably really complicated to learn how to use it tho??

  • You forgot to mention the USB dongle to make it work at all. Or did only law-abiding purchasers of the Korg Legacy Digital Edition get stiffed with that hassle and humiliation?

  • much underrated synth imho. expensive new but pick up a used one cheap. you won't regret it.

  • this is fucking sick!

  • Can the timbres be assigned to different midi channels? Could I theoretically have 4 midi controllers plugged into the rack, controlling each individual timbre? (or more usefully, 2 with a split on each)

You can do this with the virus with a thru box

  • OH MY DEAR GOD.

  • Only 2 global effects across all four timbres with no send level? Isn't that a major suck? Sounds like it - or doesn't it matter in practical use?

  • what type of music would you call it that he plays at 6:50.

Ambient electronica?... i love the sound. Would like to here more of similar sorts.

  • It reminds me the Windows XP welcome sound that plays when you've just installed it.

    I like it a lot too. =)

  • got mine in the end - so glad i did - its bloody fab - girlfriend is a radias widow now lol

  • INSTANT TRANCE RECORD! lol

  • 4 timbres? - does that actually men only four tracks using any of the 24 voices split over the four tracks?

  • shame the inputs and cable arnt recessed - looks like youd neet at least 2U's of rack space taken up to allow for the cables?

  • what is that module sitting on top to your right?

  • i think it's a kaoss pad

  • can the rack mount be used by any midi board or keyboard via midi? and can u manipulate the beats or arrange them as u want ?

debating between the virus(no drums) or this radius.

    could you please reply

    thnx

    culture

  • ya you can save 200$ if you have your own midi keyboard.

drums, eh, its no drum machine but you can do simple things.

  • this demo sure as hell ain't doing the radias justice

  • £845 not that expensive

  • not when you compare it to something like the oasys, some of us are only humans tho lol

  • Jamie Sajeva!!!

  • bet this is cheap...

    NOT.

  • Its affordable, It retails for a little over a grand.

  • Hey guys im looking to buy a korg radias rack and i wanted to know if i can use it with logic pro 8.

Also would i still have all the sounds that the radias delivers?

and would it add allot to my logic sounds?

Someone plz answer me THANK YOU.

  • It will add you vocoder , and Korg Radius is 4 part , which means can play 4x different instruments.

  • hm ok .. how mutch for a Yamaha Motif ??? in dollar please?^^

  • approximate price :

    Yamaha MOTIF XS8 - $3200

    XS7 - $2799.99

    XS6 - $2199.99

  • Heeey Zenmachinefilms. hm i think i have a pretty good buget to buy one, and im I'm new to electronic music, so i chose between Soundtrack or Rock... Analog, Virtual Analog, Workstation - hm can you explain the differents please^^

Ps... im sorry if for my bad english ^^

and yes it's inportant thesynth can interface with my computer - i would like to put the music im playing into the computer so i can make my own CD

  • soundtrack and rock, hmmm ... if I were you I would go with some Yamaha Motif or Kurzweil PC3X ... the budget is not a problem, right?

  • the vocoder effects are siiiiick

  • can someone recommend a nice synth?

  • What kind of synth? Analog? Virtual Analog? Workstation?

What kind of music are you looking at playing? Trance? Soundtrack? Rock? Country?!

How important is it that your synth can interface with your computer?

    Finally, what's your budget?

PM me if you wish. I can try to answer more questions.

  • virus TI or V synth both are quite nice

  • 24 voice polyphonic, 4 part mulit timbrael with DSP ....absolutely

Cmon....Calling it Analog ??? that is your first lie ...

  • God I am so glad. What a terrible synthesizer.

  • Anyone want to buy my Radias? Great synth but its too big and too much for what I need.

  • How much do you want to sell it?

  • hey dude, im selling mine... I would like about £500 for it, as its in perfect condition.. Im in London by the way

  • Hi man!! I'm interesting in yours KORG RADIAS.. where in London?? how can I contact you??

  • Ive sent you a message with my number in it... Give me a call and we can have a chat about it

  • i don't like knobs they break, I have knobapheobia the fear of breaking cheep knobs off, how deep and strong are the knobs? a wiggle knob makes me think I might get shocked or the knob will break off and I would loose control of what I was doing and if the knob rolls across the floor it could hide under something and ruin my vacuum cleaner or I would step on it bare footed ....na this is cool synth.

  • *lol* this really made me laugh. but man...it's a korg....they aren't really cheap built from what i experienced.

  • dude It was a joke, I like this Korg,

  • I do not know anything about keyboards, can someone explain to me in non-technical terms what a midi is. I am purchasing this korg radius with the keyboard, will I need a midi, what would that be for? As well would I use a lorg kaoss pad with this instrument? Thanks.

  • midi lets the instruments send information to eachother... you'll need some cables to use the pad to control the synth or i think to make the keyboard control the radias but i don't have a radias

  • OMG LOOK AT HIS FINGERS ! E . T. FINGERS !

  • i know what i want for christmas!!

  • your grandma smothered in butter?

  • mmmm butter

  • Dude,i can do all that with FL studio 7...:D

  • awesome you use FL too!? Sweet. It's very under rated. With the right VST's, you can do anything in FL just as well as other programs.

  • hah hah hah..

    damn right bruh'!!!

  • now all you have to do is actually pay for your copy and you'll be set

  • yeah, I suppose limewire will be the solution of many a home studio.

  • This is a response to Sawyer's comment which although I agree with, it's so boring and loses it's fun just using programs and the mouse instead of a hardware computer combination. Anyone else agree with me here?

  • I used mostly software up until a few years ago, then switched more and more to actual hardware. I started out with a D50, now I have a Virus TI, Monomachine, Radias, KP3, MPC1000... - there's definitely something to having an actual box on your desk vs. working on a screen. This is true even though most synths today are, in reality, just software running on some DSP. Anyway, opinions differ.

On an unrelated note: If you like trackers but want MIDI and VST compatibility, ReNoise rocks. ;)

  • so analogue is better than software then? I'm new to electronic music...

  • Listen and decide for your own, everyone likes a different type of sound...

  • With software synthesis you're not limited to anything, you can download VST plugins for even more sounds =] You can even replicate analog synth sounds using software synthesis. (By all this I mean using a computer)

  • yes analogue IS better!

  • Riiiight.

  • If you have a perfect ear for music and pitches, there is a logical reason for black keys being played, for instance C# and F# both sound 'sweeter' than say Bflat.

Its to do with temperament and the harmonic series.

    Then again... lol

  • hey at least he knows more about instruments than anybody who works at guitar center :)

  • You know, it looks and sounds like a very cool machine. However, I really wish it would be demonstrated by a "real" keyboardist, not some guy who knows, as already pointed out, how to push just the black keys. In other words, REALLY PLAY THE SILLY THING!

  • that guy sure likes to play black keys, and only the black keys ;)

  • im so impressed by all the things that i don't know about synths

  • I dont mean any disrespect my silly comments might shut down Keyboard sales by %50 I love synths and the nature of music artist make on them Gary Wright I called it Cosmic blues Gary Wright was the best with moog and still keep it pure in his lyric and song comp the moog did not play Gary he plyed it.

  • can you record in it for your wife say I am telling you the truth please listen to me I not lieing and then play it to her cause my wife can come back real fast with her real voice...and disagree...say I told you once in the key of am and then tweek it and phase it out with style...and win her over...got to have one of these.

  • could you add a coffee maker to that or a bun warmer? I like to eat to the beat.

  • .. or how about spliff rolling machine (complete with weed) that slides out of the left side panel (a bit like Jimmy Savells chair all those years ago) that presents a perfectly formed dutch cigar ??

  • hey i'm thinkin of gettin one, cos i'm intersted in makin my own stuff, but i have no idea how to play, should i still get one or have a practice first?

  • yes get one you dont have to know how to concert piano player you can play in the key of Q flat demolished and it could sound cool..it your creative.

  • I was SO close getting this! But then I got Yamaha.....damn. But now its for like 1700 AUD. Cool eh?

  • Which Yamaha did u get? check out a mexican goth dance duo called Hocicco! They are using a Yamaha on stage and they really rock!

Check out a song called 'Instinct for Perversion' on myspace, - rocking sounds!

  • I got Yamaha PSR-1100. Not very pro. Its juvenile. I'll check out the Hocicco video :) Peace.

  • You suck. You bag synth. You suck big time....BIG TIME MR! Synths rule!!!! FOREVER!!!

  • Nah mate, I was only kidding! :-) I have an old wooden synth and it sounds OK.

  • i want it. korg rules.
