Totally agree, I don't like the roof or the boot lid. On a range rover the roof unbolts and is aluminium but a Disco is part of the welded steel monocoque shell which bolts to the main chassis. I would like to cut the front part of a Disco roof off and weld it to the back end of mine, but this would mean changing the rear window for a none Discover window which will take the "Discovers Look" away from the rear. I might be removing all the roof and back door tops and fitting a rag top?
Hi mikelovesbass09, I wanted to keep the 5 seats so I could use the Disco for family outings as well as off roading with my son. I did retain the rear window and the fuel tank (Now under the rear seat), For my next project, a stripped down Disco.
i like it but i would not do this you know i would keep the back door but make it a pickup with two seats with the door behind the front seats or i would just take the length and still leave the shape of it in tact but 5/5 good job man different people have different loves and likes
Problem with making it a foot longer is that I would loose the off road ability that I was after. I only took 13" from the over all length. Thanks for your positive comment. Happy 4X4. She will be at Buildwas telford on this sunday if I can sneek out without the wife seeing me!
,What a great job you did on your wagon, but if you made the back end a foot longer it would be an awesome looking wagon ,still top mark for the landy .
Must admit, it did take some time. Unlucky for me work was very slack so I did have time before and after Christmas. I estimate I have spent about 5 weeks worth of work over the 2 1/2 months to get it to a stage where I can use it off road and on. It dose get some funny looks from other road users, but Disco driver usually give a smile. I bought it for £650 pounds from Auto Trader, it was a none runner. Found the immobiliser was to blame re wired the coil, now runs without a problem.
thats pretty sick put some stacks on it
