Infact Ilayaraja has never encouraged a Tamil to sing in his composition. For example look that the singers he has given patronage to: Jesudas (Mallu), SPB (Golti), P. Susheela (Golti), Chithra (Mallu), S. Janaki(Golti). May be he finds these non-tamils more flexible(in cinema sense).

Tamil is a wonderful language. Carnatic ragas still more wonderful. Maestro Dr.Ilayaraja has created wonderful ragas on the 7th note and created revolution in the Sreeranjani raagas. Why do these bengali/hindi singers attempt difficult songs like these. Unbearable. Easy songs are also there. I wish Mahadhi could have done better. I wish shreya does not sing this song once again.

I know at least 50 singers in Tamil Nadu who can do a much better than this....and I am not talking about the pronunciation. Shreya is an incredible talent and probably one of the best singers in India - still doesn't mean that she screwed up in thos song at multiple places. I have heard her sing the same song in a Chennai show. She goofed up there too - must have a mental block.
