  • this is people in bear costumes. skates do not fit bears. this is bullshit

  • It looks pretty painful, but I bet they can BEAR the pain...

  • This shows just how amazing animals can be. They can be trained to ice hockey for god sakes. Who knows, maybe one day people will be able to train monkeys to pick up a gun and shoot you.

  • MUTE THIS VIDEO AND COMBINE IT WITH TOTO'S "AFRICA" JUST DO IT

  • @mmmoroi There's also a camera cut after each play. TV can suggest whatever it wants, but it's a strange place to look for truth. I have no idea what went into this particular film but, in general, trained bears (and other animals) have it pretty rough if they don't cooperate.

  • The fact that these bears were not constantly fed after each and every move, suggests that they were enjoying this game. Little doubt about that.

  • LooL. epic win

  • come on, these are obviously bears that have been raised in captivity, even the most abusively trained bear wouldn't be this docile around humans.

  • FAAAAAKKKEEEE ))))))))

  • No way they got the bear paws/feet in those skates. This is terrible

  • I like when the bear shoots it.

  • disgusting

  • The sad thing is that what bugs me the most, is not that the bears play hockey but how the hell someone managed to put hockeyskates on all the bears. And whats more, undersized hockeyskates!

  • I bet these bears are Canadian.

  • To me it is obvious that these are people who resemble bears. Probably the Russian womens hockey team or sumthing

  • @whoneysett omg thats hilarious lmao

  • HOW the HELL.... WTF LOL this is great!

  • o my god , that is the greatest thing i have ever seen.

  • That goalie really sucks.

  • I just saw this on the Craig Ferguson Show, AAAWESOME lol

  • This is for real. I have a friend from Russia, who says they train bears as part of a circus act......Rascal

  • I'm done. This can't be real. If this is real nothing amazes me anymore. Number one, who sat down and taught each bear how to ice skate and play hockey. They're taking the game seriously too.

  • see bears fight in hockey too...lol

  • did you see that one-timer?

  • I cant help but think it looks so funny and its totaly amazing that they even can do it.

However Im pretty shure these bears have been through some terrible abuse to end up doing this.

  • @phatfish78

Let's see. They don't seem to be in pain/agony. They don't seem to be unhealthy. You people are not ever around people that train the bears to do this, so who are you to say that they "abuse" them in order for them to do this? Do you see any lacerations? Do you see any broken legs? Do you see missing limbs?

  • @phatfish78

Also, if these trainers were really that cruel, they would of just let the bears to continue to fight during that one scene like real hockey until one of them goes down in a pool of blood.

  • i suspect this is humans in bear skins

  • if it hurt that bad they would just sit down obviously there enjoying themselves if not they would just attack everyone

  • woah world class stuff man

  • i think this is the funnest thing ever!

  • If this is real, then it's absolutely sickening.

  • only in russia...

  • It makes me really sad to see bears like this. They're beautiful creatures, brother to man but way cooler. Definitely a species built to survive.

But they are pretty good hockey players. Still.

  • I see your concern, but again, science points to these as perhaps real hides with skilled players inside, which is still I guess a viable attraction. It's natural to feel 4 the bears, but forcing validation of something so blatantly medically inaccurate detracts from real energy spent advocating 4 the bears against, say, circuses, animal testing, and refuge mistreatment. The bears really can't support body weight on a stick. Just a sick use of hides and sportsmanship, but no living bears.

  • A hand that is designed to have an opposable thumb but has lost it or it's inoperable is a hand still designed to compensate for one. The bears' hands are an exception.

Pandas are a gr8 example and will really help you understand the skeletal structure of primates versus Canoidea. Radial Sesamoids on bears is bone developed between connective tissue of joints. It will tear, badly. The panda's is enlarged like a thumb, and tho fake, enables lmtd grasp w/out extensive injury.

  • Well, no, not MANY bears, as there are only a few species remaining, I believe, about eight or ten. Of those, the Black Bears are the smallest, and the E. Siberian bear which is prevalent in Balkans has smaller feet, not necessarily narrow, but may sustain a human shoe. Veterinary science though points to these as hides with humans within, as the scapulae protrude in an impossible way. I think you're seeing heads protrude, not scapulae.

  • These are real bears. They are smart enough to do this. These are small bears and their paws have been forced into those shoes. It's probably very uncomfortable.

You don't need opposable thumbs to hold a hockey stick. Bears have enough coordination and control of their body to do without it. They tend to be more athletic than most humans.

Bears don't actually enjoy doing this. You can be sure they they've been terribly abused.

  • I'm not arguing bears' intelligence or whether bears' are routinely abused through operant conditioning to amuse humans. What I'm saying is this particular video is not using real bears unless their feet were cut off, and new narrow non-bear feet were attached, the bears' hands can't hold a hockey stick this way for so long, their backs can't physiologically support this activity for this duration, with such fluidity and stability. Hockey wouldn't be a bear's forte. Dodgeball or handball, yes

  • Actually many bears have very narrow rear "feet" that would fit fine in a large shoe.

As for their backs, you can see that they are unable to remain upright and tend to hunch over as if sitting. They are using the hockey sticks to help support their bodies.

BTW, It is quite possible to grip a stick without thumbs. I know someone who, as a child, lost not just thumbs, but a few fingers as well, to a electricity accident yet they can even hold and swing a bat.

  • OMG, guys, these bears are not real! I REPEAT: THESE ARE NOT REAL BEARS!!! Do you believe in the Protocols of Elders of Zion and Neil Armstrong never landed on the moon, too? BEARS DON'T HAVE OPPOSABLE THUMBS, CAN'T STAND IN THIS POSITION AND MOVE AROUND WITH THE CUNNING OF WATER POLO PLAYERS, AND THEIR FEET ARE FAT!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH111

  • No, people, c'mon, now. These bears aren't real bears; their feet, for one, are narrow and built to balance the body of a bear like a human's body. I bear is not this agile on hind legs and would fall over in this position. His paws are fat and wide. Plus, folks, how many bears have you seen with oppasable thumbs???

  • At least they have better sportsmanship than the human players! Budum tish!

  • sad

  • is that Vesa Toskala in net?

  • HAHAHHAH, Vesa doesn't cover that much space... must be his older bro or something!

  • eyohhhhhhhhh!! good one haha

  • If that's real I fuckin hate people. damn we're so cruel and self serving. Ugh.

  • It's fake, don't worry. Bears aren't so swiftly mobile in this position on hind legs regardless of the conditioning. The feet are too narrow, and they don't have opposable thumbs to hold hockey sticks with such agility.

  • It's not fake. It's a sad reality of modern life.

Bears have the intelligence and emotional ability of children yet they have been systematically subjected to extreme abuse.

  • fake ?

  • Hilarious. I am in a Russian class and my teacher told us about these bears.
