Is there enough dough for all the pieces of the house, or does one dough bring the front and a wall, meaning you need two doughs for the walls, and another dough for the roof? Cause when you were cutting the dough, it looked like you didn't have enough :-S
I cry when ever I see a gingerbread house. My mother made the best, till the day she died before Christmas. I cry when ever I hear or that has anything that has to do with Christmas. ;(
Its been three years, now I have to face it, and learn how Christmas cheers are around the house. Me and my family are going to make the house out of gingerbread! Now me and my family face Christmas as if my mother is coming back to meat us.
@TheFranny1998 Well, 350 degrees celsius is around 662 degrees fahrenheit. Most ovens that I know of don't heat higher than 230 degrees celsius, or around 445 degrees fahrenheit. That's super hot! So to answer your question in short...it's 350 degrees fahrenheit, or 176 degrees celsius. If you're not sure, just go to google and type in the question, aka ''What is 350 degrees fahrenheit in celsius?'' and you will generally get the conversion answered straight away. Happy baking!
@MegaSayachan I don't. I bake gingerbread men out of the ''scrap dough'' and decorate and eat that. The gingerbread house, in my household anyway, is for decorating. Put it on the shelf or the mantlepiece, and enjoy! Munch on the leftover gingerbread men! :)
This looks really fun! One question though, what can I use as an alternative to molasses? I am from New Zealand and have never heard of it lol :/ No one ever builds gingerbread houses over here but I think I'm going to make one this year :)
I find the best way to avoid a gingerbread house falling apart is to leave each join (so in the beginning, just two of those joins) until they set. I have never seen anyone make a gingerbread house and ice the whole thing in one go and have it stay there, we usually put books either side while the joins set. It may take a bit longer, but it avoids the heartbreak of your lovingly assembled gingerbread house falling and breaking to bits before your eyes. Just a tip :)

I don't know why there's so many negative comments here...that was the first time I made gingerbread dough and house using India's recipe and instructions and it turned out so nice and easy! I think kits are for lazy people! Thanks India for this very useful video. Thanks to you from now one I'll make gingerbread house every year!
I do admit this video is perfect, and explains everything I need to know. Tomorrow me and my girlfriend are building a ginger bread house just like this one, and we'll have so much fun with it. it's stuff like this that brings me and my best friend closer together :)
i can' even get the second graham to stand up it always falls on me those people on the food network channel idk how the hell they do it but i bow to them.
@hamsterluver3 Nope, you don't need to use molasses. I just made my own gingerbread house & I didn't have any molasses nor corn syrup so I used honey. It works just as well.
You make it seem so easy. I tried today and my glue didn't work, my gingerbread broke and got all crushed up, and after all i just made it to the end, and i was placing mylast piece of roof on, and all of it fell and broke :(:(:(
MMM! I've never made a gingerbread house b4 but now i want 1 NOW! =D That house wouldn't last 5 minutes if i was in there! My best friend from Italy showed me this video and gave me tips, and the glue would not last long either! YUM! =D
Cool, I've always wanted to try making a ginger bread house for christmas knowing me i always figured id mess up and just say ahh screw it and make ginger bread men instead :P
I think I would be intimidated by making a gingerbread "house," but not a gingerbread. Do you actually eat the gingerbread house, or do you use it as decoration? If I saw your gingerbread house, I'd be tempted to take a bite out of it.

@live4thesummer I'm from NZ too and was like "huh??" when she said molasses. But then I read on Wikipedia that it can be substituted with:
black
treacle (which is very similar to molasses)
honey
dark corn syrup
maple syrup
but idk cos I've never tried it XD
