  • AMAZING video! this deserves alot more views!

  • What an awesome shining example of advice giving!

  • Good video. I didn't relie it before. But I think what your saying is true! I'll look into it more.

  • Dude you're awesome!

  • Very very nice video, your videos are great and you are great!

  • thanks.

  • You have the best educational videos, keep up teh great work.

  • I like your video, I find myself saying uh and um too much, taking long pauses, looking away, and speaking way too slowly. A video editor has helped me cut a lot of those things out, and retake any parts I have to. Hopefully this helps me perform better the first time.

  • wow this video has been so informative..... i want to do more videos and create more viewers and i am a bit afraid of sounding/looking stupid but you have a good point in a lot of your tips..thank you for helping :o)

  • hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • Thanks for the encouraging vid! I'm always talking my self out of making a vid because I feel that I would start stumbling and getting lost for words!

  • great video...

  • Hmmm...this is one of the best videos I've ever watched on youtube. You are talking to me! This is VERY helpful, I'm about to kick my fear. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for this Gideon! My biggest hesitation to start is i dont' like the way I look on video - which you are right - much different than a mirror - not sure why that is (like why does a mirror capture you different than a camera, what is the scientific reason for that??)) I will try your advice and just try to get use to seeing myself this way.

    This was very helpful!

    The

  • LOOOOOOOOOOVE YOU! I've always been afraid of the camera (pic and vid) and never had anyone help like what you said. I'm also scared of an audience, although I'd rather be in front of an audience than burn to death. :)

    Just subscribed! Cheers :)

  • Loved your video... Quick question how did you make the annotations on the video... what software did you use?

    thanks

  • my voice is horrible in the camera!

  • Great Tips!

  • Thanks for the info, I am trying to get over a resistance to talk on camera, tricky stuff!

  • Excellent! Thanks for the tips, they were really useful. Your ending actually made me smile!

  • thans , you helped me realize something very helpful .. love your videos .

  • Thanks man. Very useful and helpful.

  • subbed cause of accent and ur very helpful :D

  • Thanks for your prompt reply. I appreciate it.

  • Gideon, Thanks for all your work and your willingness to share your experiences.

I have spoken at the highest levels for the National Assoc of Realtors and many local and state associations, too. for over 25 years.

Have my nickers in a twist about all the lighting, camera and sound issues. I will be making some throw-away videos just to get comfortable in front of the camera realizing that I do know more than 100% of my target audience.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • @reggupton no probs! good idea to create a few throw-away videos just for the learning process. My first few videos were not all that great :)

  • Gideon: all the visual graphics you display during the video - stick figure characters and the like - when in your production are you dropping them in? iMovie or through ScreenFlow (if it's even possible in the latter).

  • @dellaird All done via ScreenFlow - I used a Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet to draw the stick figures. The simply imported the jpg images into screenflow. Really easy using ScreenFlow

  • @GideonShalwick Didn't know ScreenFlow did that. Just tested it out and BAM! it works! Too bad it doesn't do all those nifty things your video guy is doing now in After Effects. ;-)

  • @GideonShalwick how do you crack the fear if your a kid and you don't want to be seen as a kid.?

  • @tomgaro Hey Tom - one option is to simply grow up :) just kidding... seriously though, I reckon you have an advantage being younger. If you do your videos well, people will admire you no matter your age.

  • This is the smartest thing i have heard all day :)

  • YOU are a GOD you are totally right

  • G8 video, thx u

  • I planned on trying this method already... you have confirmed my theory and now I might finally do it. Thank you!!!

  • @Gideon: I just try my first live video in front of the webcam...its really gives me new thought ..but something happening wrong that is i am good in written English but not much fluency in speaking... now what is the solution..i know and i practice regularly on this..but i only hesitate whenever i launch my first video on affiliate marketing system ..may be in my video their will be lot of mistakes regarding my English....what should i do to remove my hesitation from this part.. Thank You

  • You are so AWESOME!! I will practice that, thanks a lot!!! God Bless You!

  • Great Video Gideon! Some of my clients in the past have had to deal with this fear of rejection and like you said it's completely silly and wrong to feel this way.

    Great video bud!

  • Hey Gideon, cued up the video for some more fantastic advice as I am moving into a lot more video productions for my clients. Then....OMG you announced I won the video camera, very exciting thank you so much, awesome!!!! WWOOOHHOOO.

    Michael.

  • @quantumunited Hey Michael - yes, congratulations! We'll send out the camera soon! Well done!

  • @GideonShalwick how do u create your videos plz answer

  • Very good advice!

  • Gideon. This video gave me the strength that I needed to create my very first videos for my...very first blog :)

It's also more interesting because you've shown mistakes at the very end. It encourages us (newbies) to go out there and..just do it!

Thank you for all you do and I can't wait to receive the amazing gift "Truckloads of Leads" !

    Vitoria (Brazilian living in USA)

  • Great Gideon. I have been checking in on your videos from time to time, and you yourself have improved a lot!

And the content of this video is EXACTLY what I need right now :)

Wish you all the best, man!

  • Amazig video Gideon! It came right on time for me. I just created a few videos and that fear that people wont like what I did came! Now I understand that It's only me :)

    Jack

  • Dear Gideon

FOA- my son's name is Gideon too! I love this name...

I have been through the same processe- and I realy fell inlove with myself since making the mouvies

    !!

  • Can I ask you a personal question? Were you born in the UK? You have a slight accent. It's so light I can barely recognise it but I'd go with the Netherlands.

  • Great in depth study. Another fantastic little trick is to tape a photo of a loved one or friend on the top of the cam and 'talk' to them.

  • Great video and good advice. I remember the first time I heard myself on mike and it did sound weird but then I started to send sound clips to my friends on MSN and I'd play them back to check that it recorded okay and, eventually, I just thought, "Hey! That's me and I sound fine."

It's the first time I've seen your channel and I've subscribed and will check some of your other videos.

  • nice video really appreciate you using graphics/pictures etc. makes the whole video more relevant and engaging.

  • Helpful as always Gideon! :-)

  • Gideon Shalwick knows more than me:)

  • Thanks so much for this! Also can you do a video about fiverr . c o m? It would really be nice to hear your opinion of the site. Thanks :)

  • Excellent advice Gideon! as usual ;-)

But another difficulty I find is how to focus on the camera and look around... Perhaps putting a mirror just behind the camera would help ? Haven't tried that trick yet...

  • Great video Gideon.

My wife and I both experience this fear you speak of. I experience it less, though, because I've done more videos. It is definitely true that you have to get used to look at and hearing yourself. It would also be helpful to get to the point to enjoying watching yourself instead of experiencing self-loathing, which can sometime be an issue.

Thanks for this. It expresses very useful information.

  • wow thank you! this is the first of your videos i've watched and it really has made me think about why i'm scared of my own voice on videos! I'm going to take on your advice and will have a try!

Going to subscribe too! thank you

  • Brilliant video with some fantastic advice, so I should watch myself, and I think listen too (if audio only). If you really don't like how you look, then try audio only, use a service like Audioboo.

  • Gideon thank you VERY much this is SO important, really helpful info for those newbies like me that are just starting out on the video blogging journey

    Absolutely loved it x

  • Love it Gideon - great advice as always.

From a scientific view, we release a hormone (along with Serotonin and Adrenaline) called Dopamine that records how we think, feel and behave when in a new situation.

The next time we "perform" whether it be on camera or on stage we release the dopamine to remember what happened last time and what we should do the same or differently this time. It helps us learn from experiences.

As you mention, if we use repetition, we can reset the dopamine! Brilliant!

  • @TomBreezeTV wow that is a super intelligent comment Tom! hehehe - thanks for the scientific insight!

    Gideon

  • @GideonShalwick Haha, I confess, I am a geek!

  • Great video Gideon! :D

  • First comment again! :-) I am on fire! Great video, Gideon.

Anyway, the fear of camera can be very real.. I almost can´t recognize myself on my first videos for over a year ago. But I kept at it, and over time it got very natural. Feels like talking to a single person now.

Ps. I got your recent ebook, and it is very good content.

  • @ThaagMe Glad you like Truckloads Of Leads! I wrote it a few years ago, but the info is still SO relevant today!
