Where is the energy? What happened? Full Collapse is one of my favorite records of all time and it is perfect for what it is. This is just depressing. The band falls into a weak pop feeling groove and has none of the drive and the intensity they did 10 years ago. I hope they can get their shit together and write some intense music again.
I can imagine this would be depressing to you considering you were not there. Standing on the edge of Summer is likely the lightest song on Full Collapse, especially after Geoff Rickley announced to the crowd that "you can file this song under easy listening." The energy was certainly there. It's hard to feel it though when you're watching a video of the show on youtube. Little bit detached .
@lostcoaster I saw them play Full Collapse in Manchester just a few days ago, and seriously, they brought the energy, passion and intensity worthy of this album. 'Standing...' is the the most relaxed song on that album but when I was there, the crowd and band did it justice and made it come to life.
@lostcoaster is this a joke? the fact that they still nail this song after 10+ years whilst holding this much meaning is massive... Full Collapse was a genre defining album and if it is one of your favourites then you should know that this track is the softest on the album and if you compare this with the album version, its pretty much exactly the same... and isnt that what everyone wishes for? That their favourite band can replicate their songs live as well, if not better than their albums?
yup, there i am .. right up front... i had a bloody nose when they played understanding in a car crash. lol

@scrumpyJ5 Also, the more screamy, raging songs from that album that they played that show REALLY WERE raging and intense.

@lostcoaster -I saw them last summer, they were just as intense as ever. Your picking the wrong song to judge their intensity by.
