Saw them them at Guildford UNI, still have not got the smell of incence out of my crush velvet trousers , but the world needs a massive dose of this king of vibe to turn back the clock on 30 years of greed.
This wanted to be a big hit in $ America?I don't know maybe it was? Amazing interview at the end!..Religious rock bands today almost deny GOD in some situations..Its fucking stupid how this world thinks nowadays?''Huh! ''And for some reason I'm actually having a pretty good time.!Ah.."But still, i sadly smile sometimes,''And think like, 'why"?
Well, true musicians do this all the time, that crossing over all national and ethnic barriers ... but as we all know the mainstream has become such an overall surpressing neglceting power ... In the 70's the music industry was ready to accept so many different approaches - and they greatfully made a lot of money with it ... but you can still hear this kind of music, but you need to open up your eyes and ears to find it ...
Really refreshing to find this because it seems we must have been more diverse and musically open/tolerant in the early 70s than today. Don't think there are any contemporary acts doing this.
The group really does looked pissed to be miming, especially the percussionist. Contrast this with the live footage from the Glastonbury festival, where they're in such ecstatic motion...
The percussionist is Alan who was really the lead guitarist and whose improvising was the main reason I would go to see them every time I could although the band as a whole were a superb live act. Nice new couple of live CDs out recently too of concerts I went to.

From seeing them live at the Lyceum at some point in the late 60s/early 70's to watching this miming shite is very sad...........

they were a great live act, and this miming is not their thing at all. btw. they were at the first Glastonbury! (might have been the second).

Yes, it is a restrained version, but just to see Quintessence after all these years is fantastic!
Thanks for posting this little gem and Shiva's (Phil Jones) voice is one of the best ever.
