The nobleman's father tries to stop the relationship as it has endangred his daughter's wedding because of her reputation as a courtesan . Broken hearted she leaves. The nobleman confronts her and makes a scene an pays her for her 'services' before leaving. Her tuberculosis worsens and after confessing her love, she dies
