  • my friend says this degrades your cpu since this is from 2010 has your cpu been ok? thats the only reason i am not getting this yet. I don't think it will matter since i have apple care on my macbook pro, so if anything happens it should be covered. if i do get this do i need anything else, i have the adapters dvi to vga. if you could please respond that would be awesome

  • @awsomeswimmersurfer

No problems at all. Works great. I still use it every day and I'm on it all day long. Today alone I've been on it for 7+ hours so as you can see, this laptop is on all the time, connected to Matron running 3 monitors and I have no issues at all.

    Thanks,

    Wayne

  • Hi, I was wondering if you could give me a short tutorial on how to set this up. This is a great setup and Im REALLY wanting to do this for myself. Thanks :)

  • How much RAM are you using? Could you set it up with a monitor on the left macbook in center and monitor on the right?

  • @LoeserRealty

I have 4gb of ram. Yes, if I wanted to I could get rid of one of my monitors, and put one on each side with my laptop in the middle and it would work fine.

I can keep all 3 and use my laptop as a 4th with this setup. Been thinking about putting a shelf over my monitors and putting my mac there so I could use it too.

  • @spiderwayne Thank you for responding. Its interesting that you say that, I have considered raising my monitors in the same fashion, however dont you think it will be like sitting in the front row of a movie theater? I have a doublesight monitor stand that I am using with 3 19" monitors, I am waiting for the matrox to arrive.

  • @LoeserRealty

For me no, I plan to leave the 3 at eye level and just move the Mac to the shelf.

Since I'll only need to look at it once in a while it won't be bad.

  • What's processor on your mbp and how many ram do you have on it?

  • @szoegar

    2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    4GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

  • PLZ REPLY!!!!!!!!!!

im thinking of getting a Duel head 2 go digital. i have the 2011 MBP with Intel HD Graphics 3000 2nd generation i5. To connect this to my mac will it work with a mini dp to vga????

    Thanks

  • @ItsMrSeb

I'm sorry but I really don't know because all I have is an early 2008 Macbook Pro.

You should contact the Matrox people and ask them.

  • @ItsMrSeb

Yes work but the image quality via VGA connection is terrible.. use DVI-D or HDMI or DisplayPORT..

Buy a DisplayPort version of Matrox Dualhead2go or Triplehead2go.. the only version that works with MBP 2011 because the 2011 have "Thunderbolt" instead of a normal/conventional Displayport. You have to buy a DP dition why DP edition have an included Mini display port to Displayport adapter inside the package..

  • @ItsMrSeb Yes i have the same setup

  • Please please can you tell me how you extended the menu/taskbar thanks:) ????

  • @BAMalikZ

I didn't have to do anything to get it to work like this.

This is just the way the Matrox Triplehead2Go works on my Macbook Pro right out of the box.

  • @spiderwayne orate thanks, will it work with my mac pro ? because i don't want to buy an expensive graphics card. so i just buy this and connect it and will it work like yours ?thanks.

  • @BAMalikZ

Impossible for me to know if it will work for you. If I were you I'd contact Matrox, tell them what you have and see what they have to say.

Or, buy it from a reputable place like I did. If it doesn't work for you, return it.

  • @spiderwayne Hi okay thanks very much. But what will happen if i connect to my macbook pro and open the lid so there will be 4 screens in total? will the dock still be on the middle ? Many thanks.

  • @BAMalikZ

Yes, if it works for you like it does for me you'll have 3 monitors plus you laptop monitor to make 4. Then in your display preferences in your Mac you can move your laptop display to be anywhere you want, left side, right side, top or bottom...it's up to you.

  • @teheverythingshow

I don't know off hand but you could do a search for a KVM Switch. I'm pretty sure you'll find one that works for you. Good luck!

  • @teheverythingshow

    Works with mine.

They are 24” 1080p LED Backlit LCD Monitors

  • how did you connect to the 3 monitors ?

  • @hafabifib

Video out (dvi) on my Macbook Pro to video in (dvi) to Matrox module then out to monitors (3 x dvi)

  • your macbook is closed? hmmm how doesnt it fall asleep?

  • @Theboxset

Good question...I think after one of my Snow Leopard updates something changed because I can no longer do that. Now I have to leave it open.

Another thing is when I did leave closed it would get really hot..not good for it so I guess it's for the better now to leave it open.

  • do I have to extend my desktop? I want it to reckognise each monitor individually, I bought something similar to this but it just extended my desktop instead of reckognising them individually

  • oh and where did you get your wallpapers those are sick and i cant find cool car wallpapers that big

  • @poketboy1

For the wallpaper, I used google to search for Hi Def Wallpaper.

The site I found was hdwallpapers . net then in hyperspaces program I set the wallpaper to Stretch to Fill Screen.

  • i just got the matrox and its not getting the full 1920x 1080 on each screen. and its laggy. how is yours so smooth, and do you have 1920x 1080 on each of your screen? i have a mid 2010 macbook pro and its wanting to just go to a max of 1280x1024 what can i do i need help please!

  • @poketboy1

My MacBook Pro is older than your...2008 so I won't be much help. I can only suggest you contact Matrox directly and see if they can help you.

Note, the largest I get on 3 screens is 1440x900.

  • What MBP do you use

  • @djspecialpaul I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2008

  • I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2008

  • This is sick!

  • Is yours the 'dp' version of the Matrox?

  • I have the Digital Edition

  • Just hooked my macbook pro up to two external monitors and got some HD wall paper. how do I get the background images to spread across both screens like you did?

  • Do a search on the web for Hyper Spaces. This program will allow you to run up to 3 different spaces, each with it's own wallpaper. Also, do forget, it you shut down or reboot you will need to restart Hyper Spaces again...unles you set it to start with your MAC.

    Have fun,

    Wayne

  • df

  • triplehead2go analog or digital edition??

  • I'm using the digital edition

  • Great!! @spiderwayne .. i have another question. did you use any converter from the matrox to the monitors? (dvi, mini dvi or similar to vga) thanks!!

  • Nope. Just used what was in the box :)

  • which macbook are you using?

  • @calebr702

    I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2008

  • @calebr702 I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2008

  • I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2008

  • Where did you get that background thanks

  • I did a search for HIDEF Wallpaper on Google and found a site called HD Wallpapers . net

  • Did you upgraded your video card on your macbook pro? cause im trying to do this and I tried all I could and it seems that the problem is that the laptops video card its not supporting the resolution, I have the new 2011 15'' macbook pro that comes with the AMD Radeon HD 6490M. thanks

  • No I never upgraded my video card.

    Good luck.

  • @spiderwayne thanks for the reply, im getting now the triplehead2go dp edition is more mac friendly I hope it works, thanks again

  • Comment removed

  • how much latency is there? can you edit videos and play youtube videos on it?

  • I don't notice any latency and yes I do edit videos and play youtube videos on them all the time.

  • I could really use your help, if you'd be so kind. I cannot get my Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital to run three external monitors on my pre-unibody MacBook Pro. I can only run two. I've tried everything, including contacting Matrox.

My MacBook Pro has DVI out, running into Matrox, with DVI out to the monitors. Only supports two.

May I ask, which model MacBook Pro are you using? Which Matrox are you using (Digital Edition or DP Edition)?

Thanks is advance for your reply.

  • @MOOBER615 I hope this helps, I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2008. The Matrox unit is the digital version. When I first hooked everything up I too only got 2 monitors to work. My display setting right now are in my MAC set at 4080x768 and in the Matrox software the display is the same but the Color LCD is set to 1440x900 and in the drop down in the software for Number of Recent Items is checked off at 3. Have you pressed Detect Displays in both Mac and Matrox setting? Good luck!

  • THANKS!! DON'T I FEEL DUMB!!! HA! HA!

  • hey bdy, please help me... im about to buy a 8core mac pro, with 3 monitors, can u xplain to me, how to put 3 wallpapers in diferent screen, i understand in da video hiperspaces, but whts that?

  • Hey there, sure I'll try to help.

You're right, it's called Hyper Spaces and it comes two ways, free and paid versions.

I use the free version. The only difference is that it's limited to 3 screens.

Okay, it's just software you install, then open it and configure which screen gets what wall paper...really cool.

In it you can also, set up keys on your keyboard as shortcuts to switch screens.

If you need more info let me know.

Can't link in Youtube - Google HyperSpaces to get download

  • @spiderwayne thank u. for what is parallels?

  • Paralles let's you install Windows and run it pretty close to native. I was using it to run my Microsoft products like office and Paint Shop Pro. Now I use all MAC products and have no need for Parallels anymore. So, if you have a MAC and have to use Windows programs to me this is the best way to go. You could use your MAC's Boot Camp but then you would have to choose between which OS to boot into, MAC or Windows. Paralles lets you run Windows in your MAC OS so both run at the same time.

  • Jesus christ, that's incredible. :| and that's all running from a macbook pro? which model do you have?

  • Thanks!

Yes all running from a macbook pro. It's MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008).

    Love it!

  • @spiderwayne do you have any idea how this kinda setup would run from a current 13" macbook pro? Im curious if its come far enough to have equivalent power and could also do this comfortably

  • I'd love to help but I don't have a current 13" mackbook pro just my 2008 15" macbook pro.

You should contact the Matrox site I'm sure they can answer your question.

  • Is there any possible way to set up 3 monitors with my macbook without having to spend more than $50? is there another option? otherwise i'm just going to build a pc that can support my 3 monitors.

  • Not that I know of.

  • @RumbleM0NKEY 50? LMAO

  • Search for Item number: 120652345762 on ebay UK. If you want one of these tripple monitor expansion module's at a good price!

  • Nice setup!! That looks awesome and thanks for sharing. I also have a Unibody Macbook and was looking to do this. I want to get the Triplehead2go, but there is the analog version, digital edition, DP edition, etc. ARGH! Which one are you running and with what cables? DVI? VGA? I am only planning on running two monitors with plans to add a third later on. More info on which version of Triplehead2go you have is greatly appreciated.

  • I'm using the TripleHead2Go Digital edition.

Note: I don't have the macbook unibody. Mine is the one just before those came out.

So for my setup I am plugged into the macbook dual-link dvi out via the supplied Matrox cable then into the Matrox unit and then out to the 3 monitors.

    Hope this helps,

    Wayne

  • @spiderwayne is the Digital version better than the Analog version? please answer ASAP

  • hi

what cable is used to connect 2 lg scrrens to a mac pro tower? one screen works but the other turns black?

  • I am using 3 monitors and all 3 plug into the Matrox box and from there it plugs into my Macbook Pro using their cable.

If you're sure you don't want to use 3 monitors they make one for 2 monitors called dualhead2go.

Look up Matrox. They have a lot of good information on their site.

    Thanks,

    Wayne

  • Check out my system, which also uses the matrox..

  • OH SHIT!! That is SO NICE!!

  • is it possible to connect only two monitors on the triplehead2go DP, instead of three. Im looking to upgrade to three monitors in the future, but im sticking with two at the moment. will this work?

also, i've heard rumours that when you close the macbook pro lid, the displays go off, how did you get his working?

lastly, how did you connect the wireless keyboard and mouse components when the laptop was closed?

    thanks very much

  • Hi spiderwayne,

wicked video you got here, i just got one question, i looking to buy two Dell E Series E2010H 20" monitors (these monitors have DVI ports). Also looking to get a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I have a MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz, 4GB, and Geforce 9400M, will it support my mac?

Im looking to get the Matrox triplehead2go DP version, whats the difference betwen the digital version and DP, also my monitors has DVI ports and VGA ports. But i dont think DP supports VGA monitors.

  • Hy!

I would like the same workstation with MacBook Pro (Early 2008) & 3 23" Cinema Displays. I have got some question about this!

What is the highest resolution which are running these displays at the same time?

What is the highest output (dual-link DVI) resolution from your MacBook Pro?

Have you ever been felt slower running CPU until used Matrox?

Could you make (on youtube) a presentation about "System Preferences" where can I see the "arrangement" setup?

    Thx much!

  • Display settings for both the mac and matrox are at 3840x1024.

I have never used a dual-link DVI cable so I can't tell you.

My CPU runs fine and I run a lot like Logic 9, video software, graphic software and html editors.

I would really like to make a new video with more detail as now I can also run my Macbook Pro as a 4th monitor and my iPad as a 5th LOL totally unnecessary but I am sure some people might be interested.

As soon as I get the time, hopefully soon, I'll do it!!!

    Thanks,

    Wayne

  • waar heb je ze op aan gesloten ?

  • Wat gaat u probeert te zeggen?

  • that is one small ass keyboard.

  • I thought the keyboard was small too when I bought it but turns out it's all I need.

  • Wayne,

What screen resolution are you running?

Specs on the Matrox site indicate that 1280x1024 across (3) is what I can expect with a setup like yours.

It looks like your displays are 16:9 - is the 1280x1024 stretched, or have you set is to a compatible ratio that is not distorted?

  • Hey,

I read that the TripleHead2Go is NOT compatible with Macbook pro with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M ( the graphic cards in my 2009 MBP) ? What graphic card do you have ?

    Thanks !!

  • Mine has GeForce 8600M GT. Where did you get that information from?

I just took a look at their site and it looks like it should work.

Check out their Mac System Compatibility Chart at the matrox.com site

Make sure to pick TripleHead2Go Digital Edition

    Good Luck!

    - Wayne

  • hey mate..

don't know everything there is to know about computers so i need your help.. i have a macbook pro and a tv that can be used a computer monitor.. and I want to have a secondary monitor that works like yours.. What do i need to buy in hardware/ software..? For when I'm DJing.. Love the setup by the way..

    James

  • If you want 3 monitors then the triplehead2go (digital edition) is what I'm using. If you just want 2 monitors and your sure you will never want 3 then I they have a dualhead2go that will work. To be sure go to Matrox site and go to products for more information and you can contact them too. I did when I was researching and they answere quickly and was very helpful.

  • would the triplehead2go work on a regular macbook ( not the newest ) and i do have a mini DVI to VGA converter cable, the site doesn't say this.

i have allready a dualhead2go on my dell it works fine but i was just wondering, so you're help is very welcome.

    Dion

  • Omg this is amazing man!! didnt know you could do this!

  • WTF do you do with 3 Fu*king Monitors !!!

  • hey man, I hv the matrox dualhead2go on my mbp 2.53ghz nvdia 9400 geforce, but i've been having a lot of problems running 2 1920x1080 dual screen i keep getting the out of range 60hz error. Do you have a solution for that?

  • apparently i have a HIS external video cards and it lags like a bitch when i dual screen 2 1080ps on my 2.53ghz mbp. You think it will be no problem running 2 1080ps at max res with the doublehead2go?

  • do you think the doublehead2go can run my mbp 2.53ghz with 2 1920x1080p with no problem?

  • what are the specs of your mbp? does it lag when you use the desktop key aka "f3"

  • @Ritchiesli

No lag and the specs are 15" 2.6GHz 4GB .

Let me know if you want to know anything else.

    Thank,

    Wayne

  • what are specs of your mbp? is there any lag when using the desktop key aka "f3"

  • awesome i think i've found my birthday present, thanks for the run through!

  • Have you tried to put the monitors in portrait mode yet?

  • P.S Where's the Mac Book Pro? Under the desk?

  • @AiRamosPro

Good catch, yep it's in the keyboard tray under the desk right in front of me. Heat is not a real big problem and usually holds at about 65-70 degrees but in case it goes up I have it sitting on a Targus Chill Pad. It run off a USB port and is very quiet.

  • @spiderwayne Haha.. I thought so. So do you have like an additional mouse & keyboard attached to it? Thanks for the info.

  • A wireless USB mouse and a bluetooth MAC keyboard. I never turn off the laptop. It goes to sleep after an hour of inactivity. Or I use a keyboard shourtcut to send it to sleep. To wake it up I move the mouse or hit a key.

I also have Win 7 installed via both Parallels and Boot camp. When I use Win via boot camp the mouse and keyboard both work there too. The keyboard was tricky to get installed. If I would have used a wireless USB mouse and keyboard I think it would have been easier.

  • Hi.. Not counting your Mac Book Pro.. How much would you estimate to get 3 like that on my Mac Book Pro. Or at least 2? Thank you. Is for Music Production too.

  • @AiRamosPro

If you go the way I did you will want Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital version. You can use google shopping and find it for about 275.00. If you don't have monitors, for 24" like mine your looking around 250.00 - 300.00 each.

  • @spiderwayne Thanks man. Hopefully for me... I can afford it. I'm gonna see to it.

Nice little thing you got there. I use Cubase though.

  • I love this setup. It's comfortable and I get a lot done. Go for it when you can, you won't regret it.

  • what about playing movies?!

  • playing movies is fine but although the windows will span all 3 monitors the picture will only span the length of one monitor. so the best way is to just drag the screen to take up one monitor. Hope this helps.

  • How much did that set up cost you?

moniters, macbook pro, all of it even that desk were did you buy that desk?

  • Looks like you are right. I went to their site and saw this. If I were I would contact them to make sure.

  • Should I go with the Acer 24in LED or the LG 24 LED?

  • It's all personal preference but I like the LG LED better. Faster response time. LG 2ms Acer is 5ms. Besides that they are about the same.

  • just purchased a triplehead after seeing your video....

    is 1366x768 x 3 supported for mac ?

  • @itchykingkong77

The most I could get on my MBP is 3 at 1280x1024. If you find a way to get 1366x768x3 let me know.

    Thanks!

  • Sex... love it very nice setup whats the specs on your MBP i have one to but i have the early unibody one though

  • I am interested in running a similar setup on a macbook pro. What resolution are you running on these three monitors? Will it push three 1920x1200 at max resolution?

  • @finallyfreethinking

I wish it did. This is the only drawback. I can only get 3 x 1280 x 1024.

Still prefer it over 1 big screen and still a lot of room to work. I like having my main information in the middle monitor and branch out from there.

  • @spiderwayne whats the native reso of your 24" ??

so let me get this right....u are showing the demo with the 24" at 1280x1024 ?

  • LG 24" LED Monitors can go 1920 x 1080 but with the Matrox unit you can only get 3 at 1280x1024...seems like a waste, right?

I thought so at first but now that I've used it for a while it doesn't bother me anymore.
