  • colbert is a character i love both but stewart is the man...

  • i like Stewart more but there both great,

  • stewart = colbert

  • Sorry pinheads, Stewart is the boss. Colbert is at his level though

  • Honestly, I think Stewart has a more simpler, 'mainstream' type of humor which people of 'variable intelligence' can enjoy. Most people think he's funny. But Colbert is a dry wit and those who have the capacity to get it know just how fucking funny he truly is. I LOVE COLBERT. COLBERT 2012.

  • I would love for Stewart to run on the Democratic side in 1216 against Colbert on the Conservative side, each would obviously win the respective primaries and we would see who is wittier when they go head to head on the debates.

To use Jon's argument to determine who is better (Chris Wallace interview), I don't know if Jon could do what Stephen does, while i do think that Stephen is capable of doing what Jon does.

  • Jon Stewart is not funny at all though.

  • Both of them are great at what they do. They both pretty much have the same message but deliver it differently which makes them both equally great. I think Jon Stewart makes more of an impact like with the 9/11 first responders bill and how no one was paying attention to it and jon stewart on comedy central had to lead the charge for the "real" news media outlets to pick it up, remember CNN's crossfire....me either, Jon Stewart got that show cancelled, and he makes the media look ridiculous.

  • That is like saying what is better?

Winning the Lottery or inheriting a lot of money :)

    They are both awesome.

  • Colbert. More irony, more intelligence. He has the guts to destroy people in interviews if he wants to.

  • i prefer stewart. colbert thing gets old. and to colbert fans, please don't explain to people that he is doing o'reilly or that it is satire, everyone knows.

  • They do different things. Colbert has self imposed limits, but they allow him new ways to ridicule. Stewart has the chance to play it straight and say what he truly thinks. Stewart has been at it longer which assists him in improvisation and interviews, but Colbert has a strong charisma that makes his audience chant fervently at the beginning of his show.

Better just say they're both comedy geniuses and leave it at that.

  • they're both awesome, but I think Colbert is funnier cuz he's suppose to be a troll

  • WTF IS WRONG WITH THE LETTERS AT THE BOTTOM?!

  • i prefer Jon Stewart

  • Colbert is too contrived and would freeze without the script. Funny though. Stewart has a better wit and off the cuff humor.

    Stewart is better.

  • Jon Steward is much better at interviews and discussion...i love watching him been interviewed by fox or other news outlets cos his so intelligent but i think that colbert is alot funnier and his show is better cos the way he discusses news events and current situation is brilliant and hilarious, i've cried laughing during colbert cos its amazing...so i vote colbert...but i still love steward :P

  • Stephen Colbert is my favorite because he is more talented and is more sensitive to what Democrats stand for. Jon Stewart has offended me with his behavior enough that I have been mad at him for a while. I did not approve of his rude behavior toward President Obama that comes out at times.

  • @fightingtuff Obama is a weak president, but i will vote for him again because there is no better alternative. Jon Stewart is just being honest

  • Stephen Colbert

    RULES

  • Both are amazing and hilarious but I think Stewart brings more humor out of the actual news and shows more of the hypocrisy and irony of some of the real world situations and how ridiculous it can be sometimes. Colbert does that too but I think he mainly relies on his persona to get laughs.

  • stone and digital dave are the greastest

  • 3:04

    mmmmmmm

  • A goldie oldie

  • Stewart is funnier

  • Jon Stewart! i don't like the conservative stuff

  • colbert is a better actor, more sacasm. both are amazing

  • I'd have to say Stewart. Colbert would be nothing without him because Colbert came from the Daily Show. Thats why he refers to Stewart as Papa Bear

  • @SokomPwnage I think Papa Bear is Bill O'Reilly, for the sake of irony.

  • Colbert by a mile...

    Ana has nice tits

  • How can you even ask such a question?

    I think Colbert is funnier

but I would definetly do Jon Stewart anytime lol

  • Colbert!!!!!! haha He's more witty than Jon. Jon is a lot more political than Stephen, but Stephen does know what he's talking about.

  • @numcrun yes, thats what I meant... tard... His vignettes, other than the interviews, just look too rehearsed... don't get your panties in a bunch!

  • You have to separate the interviews out from the totally scripted material.

Colbert is far superior in interviews, it really is no contest. The razor sharp responses flow night after night. Stewart is obsequious and softballs his guests, although he does have some good lines.

  • Colbert is funnier for more dim-witted people. If you actually understand politics Stewart is smarter, funnier, and presents the material better. Colbert's entire show is him pretending to be conservative just to mock others. There is a reason The Daily Show beats The Colbert Report in every award show. Also Stewart created Colbert, Stewart has had his show longer, and Stewart is an actualy comedian.

  • Stewart is more natural... Colbert just seems too rehearsed... Ill give it to Stewart... although both HILARIOUS...

  • @Quikster220 Yeah Colbert rehearses for every possible his answer his guests could give to every question, great call.

  • @numcrun He is more rehersed though. With Stewart you see more stuff coming out of nowhere, like when he slashed his hand open on the glass or had the stitches removed by a guest. He also has more variety. Colbert has his persona, and he sticks to it. I mean when you see him in interviews on other shows, he is in persona. Stewart, though, changes. He gets very serious in some interviews. He can go from humor, to seriousness.

  • 42001th viewer

  • Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are going to cause a hell of a lot of trouble when they're in a nursing home :D

  • Jon Stewart's smarter, but I think Colbert's a lot funnier.

  • I love both but ill go with Jon Stewart for the slight win.

  • I used to prefer Stewart but over time began to appreciate Colbert's much more layered humor and devastating use of irony. Now when I watch Stewart, it just seems too straightforward, too easy and often quite dull. Colbert can parody a news story with a twist within a twist - he and his writers are genius!

  • For some reason John Stewart seems like he would be a good uncle lol

  • Fluff.

  • I enjoy the Daily Show only slightly better than the Colbert Report but honestly, they both have the title of two of my favorite programs on TV. I think I prefer Stewart only because he's more laidback funny, not in your face funny like Colbert. And Stewart's sorta more straightforward in that he tells it how it is while Colbert mocks whatever it is I dunno, I enjoy both. Stewart's just more my style.

  • I love Stewart for the overall show and I love Colbert for his character.

  • Colbert is funnier puts people on the spot pretty much doesn't give a fuck

example "Al Queda could suck my balls'' hahahahaha

Stewart is funny a total genius and i must say love hes show better because of the Correspondent john Oliver,Wyatt Cenac and my favorite Aasif Mandvi !!

  • but they both reek of awesomeness..ahhh *explodes*

  • 2:45 His name is Hey Sues? Cool!

  • Stewart is better.

Colbert is limited because he is playing a character and can only approach stories from a restricted way.

  • quien es mas macho? hahahaha

  • COLBERT ALL THE WAY, Stewart SUX, he has never made me laugh.

  • Colbert makes me laugh harder!

  • I say Colbert is more talented and I'm impressed that he stays in character. Anyway love both and they compliment each other well.

  • Who cares they are both funny but neither are a reliable news source, hey kinda like TYT...except TYT isn't funny.

  • The best 1/2 hour in television is the last 15 minutes of Stewart (interview) followed by the first 15 minutes of Colbert (satire)

  • Colbert

  • colbert wins for me. you have to be more intelligent to pull off what he does. Stewart's straight guy routine is very easy and i can see how it is more relatable than colbert's odd character. colbert asks you not just to laugh at the situation but at him as well and he crosses way more boundaries than stewart ever did. so no, i dont' think stewart has more substance because i see colbert taking things one step further. also they tie for interviewing skills.

  • The Corbert Report is produced by Jon Stewart

  • Colbert is funnier and more witty.

  • @MsAgnosticatheist Colbert is supposed to be funny. Stewart plays the 'straight man'. I agree but its just because of their two roles.

  • @MsAgnosticatheist you guys do Know Cobert is a creation of Jon Stewart right? >.>

  • @MsAgnosticatheist if you are dumb and can't catch Jon Stewart's wit, then it may look that way.

  • 0:03 - 0:05 lol

  • stewart- smart and more of a political commentator, hes sorta the best

colbert- way more funny and more popular

  • If this question was asked maybe 4 or 5 years ago, I would've gone with Colbert, especially after his appearence at the White correspondent dinner. But after Bush left and the democrats got control, it was harder for Colbert to find good material to use. Stewart has more substance, is a better interviewer, and has the better show, Although I still love Colbert's character and his jokes and still watch him regularly.

  • if its just who is funnier then colbert, but yea stewart has more substance. but colbert was funny before he was even doing political stuff like on strangers with candy he was hilaaaaarious. but they are two different entities and i love them both so its hard to compare.

  • I think Stewart is more engaged in the goings on in this country and around the world and as such he likes to do comedy with more substance. Stewart is also the far superior interviewer. However, I think Colbert may be more talented as a comedian. Almost every night, Stewart laughs before the punchline. Colbert is like a rock. He can say the most insane stuff while keeping a straight face. That's the mark of a great comedian. Still, I think I enjoy TDS more.

  • Colbert...hands down

  • Colbert all day.

  • stewart has a lot more in his show but colbert has this thing he will make me spit out whatever i'm drinking u don't know when it's coming my judgment is they are apple and orange i love them both

  • LOVE them both!!!! Can't choose!

  • tosh.0 is way better combine

  • @CARLOSMENCIAS People are entitled to their opinions, but tosh watches youtube videos while Stewart and Colbert look at things with actual substance. Comparing them doesn't work, but if we're going to, I'll just say that Tosh is much more slanted to stupid shock/slapstick humor. Not exactly the most highbrow stuff out there.

  • Stewart is far better. He is far more intelligent , and has a much deeper better since of humor.

  • @bslinkymi112

you are allowed to have your opinion but i don't think someone should say he's far more intelligent than colbert. colbert is doing a character with several different layers while still being deadpan and making a point. that's not intelligent? i love jon but i think it's fair to say colbert is as intelligent, if not more for what he does everynight alone. stewart is doing the straight guy routine which is great for news, but not superior in comedy. also it's "sense" not since

  • I find them both immensely humorous however Stewart is more grounded in reality.

  • Colbert is funnier but Stewart tackles more political issues. However, both have the ability to absolutely rip an opposing view apart while using the timeless art of satire.

  • Colbert.. i love him haha ive never watched anything that was more funny lol the way he delivers everything is just great. theres a hidden humor and one out front

  • i hate that question so much, because I just can't answer it :) but I think C3P0meetsData makes a good point, stephen does a lot more acting on his show while jon points at stuff and shows us how messed up it is ;)

  • colbert is a little better because 1) he destroys his own guests and 2) he agrees with the republicans only to show how messed up they are.

  • Stewart is all-around better. But he's been around longer. Colbert will catch up someday.

  • i choose o'riley. he's the funniest comedian of all!

  • I simply love Jon Stewart; he has real talent, absolutely amazing. Colbert is alright, but some times his discussions are dry and inconsistent.

  • STEWART

  • episode by episode thing for me. I just choose who was better that night after watching both episodes. But as a show in general? Wayy to hard to compare

  • Stephen Colbert was a theater major. If you watch his show, he sings, he dances, he can make himself cry. He's a very talented actor, and his show is generally funnier because of this.

John Stewart on the other hand, was a psychology and journalism major, and he is able to present logical facts with a hilarious twist.

They have different types of talents. You really can't compare them, you really can't say one is better then the other. Not even "by a hair".

  • They deliver there material so differently I don't think it's even fair to choose. There both superb.

  • God I don't think I can't chose they are both Hilarious though I have to admit Colbert's facial expressions are funnier but Jon is great and his material is great. They are both really awesome IDK >.<

  • Stewart's staff is the best part of his show. That tour bus adventure was hilarious.

  • Can't compare them. They are different.

  • Colbert is funnier, but stewart is very intellegiant and makes great points. Stewart is more straightforward insulting, while Colbert's genius charater insults the right by simply being like them. They are both great in their own ways. Both make the right look as absurd as they are, and thats what matters in the end!

  • they're both awesome, what colbert has done creating his character is pure genius, a real american hero

  • Stewart by a mile

  • I'd probably say Stewart by just a little

  • @Honeydoole He does criticize Muslims when those peoples promote their nationalistic and religious interests, to the detriment of other peoples and those peoples' sovereignties. But he also criticizes peoples of other faiths when they assume similar actions and attitudes. Remember, Cenk is agnostic, not Muslim. He was even acknowledged and awarded for his actions to validate Atheism and Agnosticism as legitimate systems of thought and belief into mainstream America.

  • @Honeydoole He has; he condemns the fundamentalist Islam that militant Muslim nations and terrorist embrace. He has berated the anti-western and anti-semitic agendas that Iran and Syria support, as well as those countries' role as "sponsors" for terrorism. He also condemned the US-Saudi arms sale (valued near $60 billion), which Saudi Arabia purchased helicopters, air fighters and et cetera, especially because many Muslim terrorists come from Saudi Arabia.

  • John Stewart = Gold!

  • jon stewart!!

  • I prefer Colbert. Stewart is a douche

  • I prefer Colbert.

  • I think that Colbert is more creative.

  • Colbert has actual scientists and artists as guests on his show and not some boring asshole that just made another movie.

  • Better - Stewart

    Funnier - Colbert

    Awesome - Both!!!!

  • @dc013 i agree completely.

  • @dc013 That just about sums up my thought

  • If this i what these fucktards ponder all day, then no wonder everybody that has read a book makes fun of these morons. This is their way to inluence the opinions of the idiots who lack direction, kind of the same thing Ads do. LOL funny communists.

  • JOhn Stewart....

  • stephen

  • see my video of glenn , oh god !

  • Colbert by far

  • i could never go between the two, they are the only real reason i even watch tv anymore

  • colbert gets annoying after a while

  • Jon fo sho

  • honsetly in this whole political comedian category my favorite is bill maher

  • if you really love politics john stewart is much funnier. colbert is more of a comedian and his show moves faster. idk both really smart guys who are making kids know whats going on. i dont really like when colbert interviews ppl but love the beginning of his show. stewart is just increible for me but its all opinion

  • colbert is less depressing

but all in all i refuse to decide

  • Which is better? The Monster or his lacky? Oh I know! Rush!

  • Colbert. Colbert is WAYYYY more talented, sharper, funnier, way better at conducting interviews. He didnt ask whos show is better he asked who is better. Colbert is limited by the character his show makes him play but one on one hes far more entertaining

  • Colbert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NEITHER THE NEW YORK CITY JEW STEWART OR THE D.C. CATHOLIC COLBERT ARE WORTH THE POWDER TO BLOW THEM INTO HELL. THEY ARE BOTH LACKIES OF THE HOLLYWOOD LEFTIST WHO LIKE "THE YOUNG TURDS" WILL DEMEAN ANY CHRISTAN VALUE THEY OBSERVE. LIKE THEIR GOD OBAMA THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE AMERICA BANKRUPT AND DISARMED TO BECOME A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING OF THE WORLD COMMUNITY WHO EATS DUNG AND DRINKS INFECTED MUDDY WATER. THEY SOMEHOW THINK HAVING AND USING RESORSES IS A BAD THING.... THAT IS FOR YOU NOT THEM

  • @LilChuckyWoodenHead Take a flaming cross and shove it up your ass than throw yourself in a swimming pool of acid. DIF

  • @AlSidre .....What you JUST SAID SHOWS ME HOW PAINFUL MY WORDS OF TRUTH ARE TO YOU AND I AM GREATFUL FOR YOUR HONESTY, EVEN IF IT IS NOT INTENDED TO BE SO...it is .... INFORMATIVE. ...... Chucky Knows STUFF !

  • Stewart seems to be the smarter and wittier of the two. But Colbert's O'Reilly style persona is funnier in certain situations.

  • I think both shows suck.

  • @allantapps its ok cause i think you suck....infact i know you suck.

  • Don't make us choose, please!

    Both are great.

  • colbert is without a doubt funnier. who is better is a tougher question....

  • Colbert

  • I like Stewart more, but Colbert was awesome when he did the GW Bush roast.

  • Intellectually, colbert. Stewart's long interviews, they aren't that good. Colbert can nail his guests with that sarcasm and it'll take them a second to realize it(sometimes not at all). Colbert just goes for the kill, he punctures holes in guest's arguments and makes them pause and think. While Stewart plays partisan softball with his guests.

  • Colbert has better one liners, which i prefer to the stewart confused WHAT?!? look. True, Colbert will go with teenage humor more often than stewart, but the Word and other segments blow stewart out of the water. He's more subtle, more substantive, and a much better comedian.

  • stewart has eight emmys and colbert has none!

  • @fghgh9110 not true.

  • Colbert. no contest.

  • The Daily Show is good granted... But the COLBERT REPORT is the best.. Colbert's segments like "The Word", especially if you pay attention to the end, usually hits hard and cuts deep.... I just prefer his delivery and style of comedy....though I must admit I am digging the new bearded look of Jon so distinguished :)

  • i like colbert better, i think their shows are pretty equal but i liek his comedy and his presonality better.

  • Stewart by a mile.no insult to Colbert

  • Stewart by a small margin.

  • Both men are legends in there own right, but by personal preference I'd go with Jon by just a smidgen.

  • They are both great but I have to go with colbert being more clever with his jokes

  • @anotherdumbmonkey Yeah, he's just plain psycho (which could be entertaining to watch at times but that doesn't make him less psycho).

  • Comment removed

  • Colbert is funnier; he has great comedic timing. Stewart has smarter interviews and he shows more newsworthy material.

  • I'm a conservative and I have to go Colbert all the way.

As a conservative, watching Stewart can be painful to watch because he criticizes conservatives more frequently, while Colbert takes political punches at both sides.

  • I`ll go for Stewart.

  • How about Maher? I like him too, very much!

  • JON STEWART FTW

  • They're both amazing. End of story.

  • no man colbert is better

  • I like stewart better mostly because colbert doesn't break character during interviews and it can get a little annoying. Someone might be on the verge of making a good point but colbert has to interrupt and get that cheap joke in there.

  • Both of them are awesome. But I think I have to go with Stewart.

  • Jon

  • I rule in favor of clevage

  • I have had this discussion before, in the end the answer is the same. Both are equally funny doing what they do.

  • Colbert

  • It's like better which is better: Ben or Jerry?

  • I love both jon and colbert.

To me it justs depends on what im tryin to watch,

John gets more into the facts and deals more with the issues

But colbert does awesome bits that are very funny/smart.

  • It's not that either are better imo. Both appeal to different humor bases, each has their 'style'

  • Both are great but lately I've become a Jon Stewart partisan. The faux pundit thing is funny, but I also think its run its course. I also like Stewart's commentary on the actual state of affairs in the USA. Him and his team of writers are obviously some of the smartest people on the American comedy scene.

Did anyone see Lewis Black last night? Brilliant.

  • They are both great but they are amazing side by side.

  • I think comparisons are a bit pointless. They are both freakin' awesome and we badly need more guys like this

  • stephen colbert is generally funnier and probably more talented as an actor because he does do a lot of improve and his whole character in general is amazing but i find job stewart to be the poignant and intelligent interviewer you get the sense he takes his job a little more seriously than colbert thats for sure

  • Colbert does alot of stuff as improvisation and he does a character. I loved Colbert more on The Daily Show. Jon Stewart created The Colbert Report and often writes for the show. Though to pick between them, they are both brilliant.

  • Comparing Stewart to Colbert is like comparing a finely crafted wine to a really excellently made beer. In different categories and each great in their own way.

  • You are disillusion.. Post should be titled who's worse. You Love them both, how about doing a show on who you love more entitled: " Who do I love more, Moa or Stalin " brainwash public school pawn.

  • Stewart

  • 51% Stweart , 49% Colbert

  • Colbert is funnier for sure, and his show is more witty imo. Jon Stewart usually get better interviews though and he tends to take them pretty serious and really ask tough questions. I've seen Stewart almost not have a great response during an interview, Colbert, on the other hand, never seems to miss a beat. I'm going for Colbert. (most of the time)

  • Why choose? I'm just grateful that they both exist :)

  • Colbert's masterful use of straight-up irony and satire, I think, puts him up on top. But, whaddya gonna do, they are both amazing!

  • Jon Stewart overall but Colbert of course has his moments.

  • They are equal.

  • Im a big fan of the Daily Show. I think Stewart is more relevant. Colbert has great energy though...

  • I like Colbert's character, but I like the daily show better.
