Absolutely, though depending on its construction and constitution it might in practice not be much better than the USA today (which started as a limited republic and has become a totalitarian democracy).
The united States of America failed because big business and Lincoln (being a talented spokesman) either hoodwinked or forced northerns to comply or face imprisonment or even death. Just to show what happens when a power hungry, anti property rights fiend comes into power.
Chad, I've got another video based on a recent radio show call-in that I made on the topic of property rights you might be interested in. I'll post this in the next couple days.
Yeah, people have a totally emotional response to "democracy". They also view it as a pancea. Hoppe's book it awsome and converted some republicans into anarchists. Look up Joe Sobran for a dramatic example.
Absolutely, LengthyYoungArther. You're totally right about people having an emotional response to 'democracy' and also right about Hoppe and Sobran. I love them both.
I got to have lunch with Sobran once. What a wonderfull man, destroyed by political correctness. He's totally broke after all those years as editor and chief at National review he got canned for opposing PG1. I guess he read Hoppe and switched from conservative to anarchist (with a strong catholic leaning)
OldHacks, great to hear from you again, man. Long time no see. I must ask you though if you would please read the book mentioned above by Dr Hans Hoppe called 'Democracy - The God that Failed'. I think his argument against democracy is compelling and would love to hear what you think of it.
well if that's the case then you could secede as a people and write up a new constitution simply based on a petition. and in that case democracy would be your great asset in establishing your sovereignty as citizens.
scondly "constitutions" are based on Democratic agreements.
thirdly the second you "leave" you're going to end up joining with Some kind of society. and once that society settles the very first action it will commence is declaring its sovereignty with a new constitution that will have to drawn up and supported.. guess how.
@oldhacks but they would argue that you have natural rights as opposed to arbitrary ones.. that's basically the whole idealogy there from what i understand
my forefathers signed for me and I thank them for it.
a republic definately doses contain some democracy but that deomcracy can never act against the law of the republic.
I know what youre bout and I know the reason you perfer democracy is cause you hate folks better off than you and you want to lock them in a cage and spread their wealth around.
your forefathers didn't sign shit. and if they did then they imprisoned the rest of us with their strongarm monarchy fashion dictatorial constitution. fuck them.
I hate folks better off then me? no. I hate how we're supposed to be the wealthiest nation on earth yet have cities like new orlins where a majority of the population are stuck living in third world conditions. and we have NO HEALTH CARE. wealthiest nation on Earth. can't even provide the BASICS!?? wtf is that about? u love rich folk?
Little commie hack here is partly right. The constitution is full of loopholes. The Bill of Rights is what matters.
But hope I get to see little commie hack here during "Liberal" season.
Don't understand why we're not supposed to have communism here? Follow my links. Read the quotes page first. Then share and prepare for what will be required of those who claim to love Liberty.
Millions across this country will have to 'secede' and congeal for Liberty to be restored.
It will take many expensive suits hanging along Pennsylvania Ave. to fix this mess if it can be fixed.

True Anarchy may exist one day but I doubt it.

I sure wish so, KhmerD0G. I would love to see the day when liberty replaced democracy.

Hans-Hemann Hoppe had a few favorable words about democracy. Even wrote a book on the subject.
"Democracy: The God The Failed."
Here's a podcast vid of the man in an interview with Lew Rockwell.

Great book. I just recently read it. It totally debunks democracy as a pro-liberty philosophy.

obviously I disagree with this.

the only way you can get S. Carolina to secede is if you get the majority of S. Carolinians to agree and support secession.
oldhacks 2 years ago
That's true, OldHacks. We'd have to convince a majority of the voters of SC.
