  • so what version do you have? mine's different

  • @mmnissanzroadster9 That's good, as this is a 3 year old version of Blender. I would hope that you have a newer version. Search my channel for the blender 2.56 fluid tutorial -- it should be more up to date.

  • @EneilShade thanks dude

  • liked!

  • Nice! just went through the tutorial and it's doing good! what kind of system are you using??? Mine went insane amounts slower than yours!

  • Thanks! But, one question- is it simply a matter of my laptop having poor processing speeds that when I go to render this animation it goes really slowly and lags? Or am I missing something?

  • @TheDarkWolf94 Nope, you are good. Your laptop is the source of your really slow render times, not your fault.

  • thanx

  • thanks m8 , i today start work with Blender , and behind some hours i create my first animation :D THANKS :)

  • @bushcraftsaris It is my life to serve you (not really, I have school and such, but glad to help)!

  • Might be a dumb question but I just got Blender, I don't have the panel at the bottom, how do I get it?

  • @minecraftman5 NOT a dumb question. Blender has a very anti-beginner user interface. The problem you are having is that you (having just got blender) have the new version. Check out my Blender 2.56 Fluid Tutorial. It will be far more pertinent to your needs.

  • how do you change its color?

  • dude, I LOVE U. thnx man!!!!!!1

  • It turns into a piggy nose when I choose domain!

  • okay great vid but when i render the icosphere it has a horizontal column coming off of it. Am i doing something wrong or what please help

  • @Spikekyn Okay, I need more info if you want me to help.

  • @Spikekyn This is happening to me too, did you find a way to fix it?

  • @kort77876 no

  • How do I even get the little bar at the bottom up. I just downloaded Blender and it's completely different, there's a side bar but it doesn't have stuff anything like this?!

    HELP

  • @scarylegodudes I cannot help. I do not know the layout of your blender, because -- sadly, I am not psychic. If you could somehow give me a link to an image, I could possibly help you. Just screaming for help with no information, though, gets you and me nowhere.

  • @EneilShade :) I've sorted it out. Now I have more problems... I make a physics animation on Blender Game and click p to check it all works.. Then I go back to Blender render and when I render it , all the objects are just still.... :( can you helP?

  • @scarylegodudes Watch my "Blender Game Physics to IPO" video. It is for 2.49, but still applicable.

  • Omg thank you so much. Subscribed! turns out you go under a heading called Game and then click record animation :D ! (stay tuned for more whining ;) )

  • @EneilShade And just one more thing. I made several balls fall down onto a surface and the problem is they don't bounce off eachother. Just go through eachother. Any fix for that Blender guru :)?

  • @scarylegodudes Okay, did you use the Game physics, or did you use the Baked physics? I need to know before I tell you.

  • @EneilShade Apparently it's sorted itself out .__.

    But thanks so much anyway.

    Really appreciate it :D!!!

  • @scarylegodudes No problem. I post these videos because I want to help people with Blender. Have fun with your new-found knowledge!

  • That's probably right because I changed my vertical speed to 1.00 and then back to. -0.00. Maybe that was a problem. I didn't wanted the "-" sign.

  • My water is weird. It went up not down. Thanks now I finally got what are domains and fluids for.

  • @uuuserunknown You probably had gravity set the wrong direction. Also: you are welcome for the tutorial.

  • hi! Thanks a lot! it really helped me. sorry i am just a noob at blender but... how do i do if i want to save it as a video file ? :oo

  • @Gabpop1 I honestly cannot believe I have not made a tutorial on that...I will get on it.

  • @EneilShade Okay :) Thnx ! =)

  • @Gabpop1 It may take me a bit, though, as my screen recording program is a bit... broken. I am waiting for an update to fix it.

  • @Gabpop1 Under the render options, there should be a filetype dropdown, just select AVI or some other video file. It takes a bit of hunting to find it, but once you do -- it is really simple.

  • Hey. cool tutorial. What can i do if I want to see my domain also, and not only the fluid

  • @3Detonation The domain becomes the fluid, I believe you would have to duplicate the domain and make one of the duplicates the domain... I would have to try though. I hope that helps.

  • Love ya accent matee Im a fare dinkum ozzie!!!!!!!! You actually helped us thanks matee. I also have a wonderful cube.:) reeeeee

  • How old r u

I'm eleven but my pcs broken

    Usin teh iPhone

  • Why is mine so slow while I have a 3.0 GHz???

  • @the747videoer It depends on more than that, how many cores do you have?

  • @the747videoer Well, that would be why. There are only a maximum of two threads that can run (hardwarewise) on your computer. If you had a 3.0 GHz 6 core processor, it would go more than 3 times as fast, most likely. Two cores should be pretty good though.

  • Thank you :D

  • how do you add colour to the fluid?

  • @Pivotanimator10 Watch my Materials Tutorial. That should get you going. I am thinking of remaking this for Blender 2.56...

  • how fucking fast did it blend 4 u its takin long 4 me lol

  • @cooldude9965 It really always depends on what your computer's innards are. I (currently) have an AMD Athlon II x6 (2.8 GH/z) and 4GB of RAM. I render FAST. But the computer may or may not have cost $17k...

  • Sadly every one will have to remake all their Tutorial when Blender 2.5 is out of Beta because the changed every thing in the UI ... I'm using it in Linux Ubuntu right now...

  • This helped a lot :)

  • can u explain how put the color and texture for looks like water

  • great tutorial perfect

  • I love this thing. Im new at this but its amazing

  • Sorry, it helped.

But i was screaming Douche Bag the whole time i watch this

  • How do you make your blob drop like that? ... Mine just drops like a round blob ...

  • thanks alot

  • your the best :D

  • I cant right click the sphere at the end because the water seems to completely cover it.

  • @massy2k6 right click on the water/sphere area twice. It should go to the sphere on the second click.

  • to make it less squary press f9 or go to the editing tab and in the first box theres an option that says set smooth. click that.

  • this is the life of a blender artist? lol :P how old r u?!

  • now it works

  • dosent work.

the domain disappears and a small(i say SMALL) thing in the middle and falls down!

  • You're A Fucking Genius!

    100% Really

    5/5

  • @123Anthony45

Sorry about the late reply, but thanks!

  • @123Anthony45 Thanks!

  • How the fuck do you change the view

  • @123Anthony45

    midlle mouse

  • will making the resolution higher make it more realistic? Becuase all the suggestion videos and test that i've seen so far all look really good and not like laggy crappy pudding.

  • nice.

  • Thank you! I just downloaded Blender right now after watching this video. Can't believe how easy it is making water :)

    Also, I have some questions:

If you animate the ball, can you make so the water splashes around?

  • i have a question, how do i make it clear, like real water..?

  • what i do it my domain becomes my fliud and fluid object is still solid. wtf?

  • Thanks man i really wanted to learn how to simulate fluids!

    Hope i get better

  • awesome tutorial! easy to follow and clear explanation

  • Hi, um, when its finished baking, and i press play it dropps a ball of water, but its very little water, just a small amount.. i did press the "both" button as you said! any ideas?

  • @sindrebscherjon make sure the whole ball of water is within the cube,

  • nicely. Thanks. "you wait, you wait, you wait ... the life of a blender artist" that's good stuff. You get more computers... but you still end up waiting somehow.

  • wow dude!thaz cool!

  • uhm maybe a stupid question but how do i make the water less "squary"? XD

  • @djdwarfy Remember when I talked about setting the resolution of the water, and how it says "Preview" and "Render" under resolution? Well, I suggest leaving "Preview" as the default value, but changing "Render" to a higher value will fix your problem. WARNING: Higher resolution means exponentially longer render times! Also, DO NOT SET TO A NUMBER OVER 230! IT WILL KILL BLENDER AND POSSIBLY FREEZE YOUR COMPUTER (Unless you have a REALLY good one).

  • @djdwarfy set smooth

  • @djdwarfy

    Apply a subsurf modifier.

  • @djdwarfy Higher Res I think :S

  • @djdwarfy I think I went over that... if not, my bad. Press "tab" to go into edit mode, and then hit "smooth shading" -- problem fixed.

  • @djdwarfy select your fluid and then click on "smooth" under shading.

  • @djdwarfy i got this method off ANOTHER tutorial, go to edit mode, click mesh on the bottom next to the frame timeline, click faces and then click "shade smooth", which will smooth the "squary" stuff. i know how bad it looks when its all "squary", so this is rlly useful for me.

  • I did every thing you said, but i just get a cube with a ball, no fluid when I press bake, plz help me

  • @killerkiller2 Hmm, my help to you: redo. To make the fire render you can find on my channel, I restarted eight different times, so just retry! And make sure you watch every second and carefully, and follow every step to the letter.

  • @killerkiller2 i had the same problem.the solution is make sure the water blob is in the cube ..not above it !!

  • no matter what shape i use for a domain the liquid is always takes the shape of a cube

  • @cjscanlon0205 That will happen! That is just how blender works. Do not worry about it.

  • hey great video, i just have a question, if i set my resolution to anything above 200 my PC just closes blender, can you suggest why this is? if it could be my specs, here are some of them - quad core 2.33Ghz, 4GB ram, Nvidia 9800GT (1GB video ram) - i dont think it would be my PC because ive run more demanding things before.

  • @333halfevil5 I know what you mean. Nice computer, by the way, I only have dual core 2.33Ghz, 2GB ram, and an nVidia 8600GT (256MB video ram). The reason it quits is because a res. of 200 is pure suicide. The huge amount of vertecies that your poor computer would have to simulate for fluid physics would kill most computers. Do not worry about that, mine cooks at 135.

  • @EneilShade so all of these vids on youtube of like 1024 res or whatever are probably done on professional computers?

  • @333halfevil5 Or render farms.

  • @EneilShade

Render farms.. That's connected computers rendering together, right?

  • Thank YOU!

  • what if i want this in a video,.. how do a render it then have it compostied in a video. u gt me ??

  • nice word choice. the water is choppy and chunky. forgot how to make is more waterlike, how would i go about doing that?

  • @enjoiskate11 Just increase the resolution of the water! I should have pointed that out in my tutorial.

  • OHHH hahaha i thought you had to subdivide your domain cube hahahaha dont i feel dumb

  • @enjoiskate11 ... You should not! You watched the tutorial for the express reason of learning how to do this, which suggests that you did not know previously how to do it, therefore rendering you unknowing rather than dumb.

  • thx man, very useful, but I don't know what u press to send the object to other layer xd, no se si es una N, end o que mierda xD

  • @xblitzk m

  • It really depends. It depends on your system, the water quality, and how many other programs are running in the backround. My answer: 1 hour to 20 days.

  • omg ty i could not do this tell now!

  • i subscribe this is so awsome man.

    i hope theye comes more.

i have made 2 that fluid water thing its works thank you

  • When i do this the box is the one that is fluid. And yes it is set to domain. Yet the Spheres i set dont do anything

  • Good! That is supposed to happen.

  • @EneilShade oh haha... I made a univers kinda deal with smoe giant planets and textures. And i want them to fall and splash

  • That would be pretty hard... I am not quite sure how you would go about doing that, but good luck!

  • how do i make the water look like water and not a gray blob

  • @112251919112

get a yafray renderer and a rendering tutorial

  • does anyone know how to make the water interact with objects like so it pushes it and it floats on the water

  • Not possible. Simple as that. Sorry! You can have something push the water though...

  • @EneilShade so you have to animate it yourselfe

  • You could do that... Or you could vertex parent.

  • @EneilShade how do you do that

  • I will make a tutorial.

  • @EneilShade k thanks

  • TRANSLATOR PLZ

  • very good tut i liked it a bunch and let me understand a little more about blender

  • ahahah

dude i knew how to use fluid

but you actually helped me in the themes

    stuff thank you a lot : D

  • thanks

  • howed u get the cool theme? (mines gray)

  • The cool theme? To get it, go to the top bar, drag it down to reveal the user settings, go to themes, and select from Presets "Rounded".

  • thanks man

  • bei mir gehts nicht... :-(

  • Warum?

  • very good idea using ICOspheres instead of the typical UV! I've always wanted to know what would be different in them. 5/5

  • how do you save it as a video file?

  • Nice tutorial but my computer is a rebuilt piece of.... D: therefore it can't handle the water falling -_- 5/5

  • thank you so much :)

  • amazing tutorial 5 star u rock

  • u got another sub and 5/5

  • Comment removed

  • Yay, finally a youtube video where the person sounds competent. Very too the point, without being too fast. 5/5

  • Thank you. I am going to work on more Game Maker tutorials if you are interested in that too.

  • YAY! awesum ive been wanting 2 learn this

  • cool.....5/5 :)

  • lol at the start.... thanks, 5/5

  • how to make the wather to see throug/ an other coler

  • Watch my Materials tutorial.

  • nice i also tried it myself as a cube!

  • hi there, nice vidz, what version of blender did u use on this vidz?

  • I used Blender 2.48a. If you do not currently have this version of Blender, I strongly suggest you get it.

  • Eric, I'm pretty sure he meant how did you get the window to look like that. At the top bar in the setting, go to the themes tab and select rounded.

  • very good video dude :)

  • Man thats awesome, another great video. I wonder though, how would you use this technique for something like a blood spatter, or any sort of liquid simulation where you didnt want any boundaries. Would you just make the domain bigger?

  • This would work for a blood spatter, but making the domain bigger would be a problem. The bigger the domain gets, the higher the resolution of the water has to be to look the same, so I suggest shrinking everything else!

  • OK. Makes sense. I guess my only other question would be how you would alter the direction of the flow? Since for a blood spatter effect the blood wouldn't be going straight down.

    Thanks for the reply!

  • Hi, there is two ways you can do that the first one is the crap way:

    1. After you clicked on domain go into advanced (Ad) and set the gravity to something else

    And the better way:

    2. After you clicked on fluid change the initial velocity to lets say Y: 5.00

    Hope this helps

  • holly hell thanks a million i been looking all over the place for a simple vid:) having great fun on blender thanks to u!

  • Thank you. You render by going to the render tab and pressing the very big ANIM button.

  • thnx dude!! iv watched leike 30 nine minute videos about this and urs is soo simple tht it still lets u experiment!!! now im gonna try to figure out how to render it
