@mmnissanzroadster9 That's good, as this is a 3 year old version of Blender. I would hope that you have a newer version. Search my channel for the blender 2.56 fluid tutorial -- it should be more up to date.
Thanks! But, one question- is it simply a matter of my laptop having poor processing speeds that when I go to render this animation it goes really slowly and lags? Or am I missing something?
@minecraftman5 NOT a dumb question. Blender has a very anti-beginner user interface. The problem you are having is that you (having just got blender) have the new version. Check out my Blender 2.56 Fluid Tutorial. It will be far more pertinent to your needs.
How do I even get the little bar at the bottom up. I just downloaded Blender and it's completely different, there's a side bar but it doesn't have stuff anything like this?!
@scarylegodudes I cannot help. I do not know the layout of your blender, because -- sadly, I am not psychic. If you could somehow give me a link to an image, I could possibly help you. Just screaming for help with no information, though, gets you and me nowhere.
@EneilShade :) I've sorted it out. Now I have more problems... I make a physics animation on Blender Game and click p to check it all works.. Then I go back to Blender render and when I render it , all the objects are just still.... :( can you helP?
Omg thank you so much. Subscribed! turns out you go under a heading called Game and then click record animation :D ! (stay tuned for more whining ;) )
@EneilShade And just one more thing. I made several balls fall down onto a surface and the problem is they don't bounce off eachother. Just go through eachother. Any fix for that Blender guru :)?
@Gabpop1 Under the render options, there should be a filetype dropdown, just select AVI or some other video file. It takes a bit of hunting to find it, but once you do -- it is really simple.
@3Detonation The domain becomes the fluid, I believe you would have to duplicate the domain and make one of the duplicates the domain... I would have to try though. I hope that helps.
@the747videoer Well, that would be why. There are only a maximum of two threads that can run (hardwarewise) on your computer. If you had a 3.0 GHz 6 core processor, it would go more than 3 times as fast, most likely. Two cores should be pretty good though.
@cooldude9965 It really always depends on what your computer's innards are. I (currently) have an AMD Athlon II x6 (2.8 GH/z) and 4GB of RAM. I render FAST. But the computer may or may not have cost $17k...
Sadly every one will have to remake all their Tutorial when Blender 2.5 is out of Beta because the changed every thing in the UI ... I'm using it in Linux Ubuntu right now...
will making the resolution higher make it more realistic? Becuase all the suggestion videos and test that i've seen so far all look really good and not like laggy crappy pudding.
Hi, um, when its finished baking, and i press play it dropps a ball of water, but its very little water, just a small amount.. i did press the "both" button as you said! any ideas?
nicely. Thanks. "you wait, you wait, you wait ... the life of a blender artist" that's good stuff. You get more computers... but you still end up waiting somehow.
@djdwarfy Remember when I talked about setting the resolution of the water, and how it says "Preview" and "Render" under resolution? Well, I suggest leaving "Preview" as the default value, but changing "Render" to a higher value will fix your problem. WARNING: Higher resolution means exponentially longer render times! Also, DO NOT SET TO A NUMBER OVER 230! IT WILL KILL BLENDER AND POSSIBLY FREEZE YOUR COMPUTER (Unless you have a REALLY good one).
@djdwarfy i got this method off ANOTHER tutorial, go to edit mode, click mesh on the bottom next to the frame timeline, click faces and then click "shade smooth", which will smooth the "squary" stuff. i know how bad it looks when its all "squary", so this is rlly useful for me.
@killerkiller2 Hmm, my help to you: redo. To make the fire render you can find on my channel, I restarted eight different times, so just retry! And make sure you watch every second and carefully, and follow every step to the letter.
hey great video, i just have a question, if i set my resolution to anything above 200 my PC just closes blender, can you suggest why this is? if it could be my specs, here are some of them - quad core 2.33Ghz, 4GB ram, Nvidia 9800GT (1GB video ram) - i dont think it would be my PC because ive run more demanding things before.
@333halfevil5 I know what you mean. Nice computer, by the way, I only have dual core 2.33Ghz, 2GB ram, and an nVidia 8600GT (256MB video ram). The reason it quits is because a res. of 200 is pure suicide. The huge amount of vertecies that your poor computer would have to simulate for fluid physics would kill most computers. Do not worry about that, mine cooks at 135.
@enjoiskate11 ... You should not! You watched the tutorial for the express reason of learning how to do this, which suggests that you did not know previously how to do it, therefore rendering you unknowing rather than dumb.
It really depends. It depends on your system, the water quality, and how many other programs are running in the backround. My answer: 1 hour to 20 days.

Hi, there is two ways you can do that the first one is the crap way:
1. After you clicked on domain go into advanced (Ad) and set the gravity to something else
And the better way:
2. After you clicked on fluid change the initial velocity to lets say Y: 5.00
Hope this helps
