this is an example of autorotation crash testing. They are testing this helicopter for certification and crashworthiness. a helicopter is supposed to be able to sustain a certain amount of force upon impact and still allow the occupants to walk away, fairly unscathed... The MD in this Case proved it's durability and ability to withstand high "G" forces upon the event of a hard landing/crash.
No. To be honest, MD tests their Helicopters on the North end of Falcon Field KFFZ Mesa, AZ Also where MD is located. This must be pilot error, or serious customer testing.. "pilot error" such as simulating engine failure at low altitude with too much down force on collective. "Not MD flown"
"md 902 is the hit" nope.. the 520 is... lol.. my guess why the landing was like this is either a new pilot, or trainie pushed collective down to far. i loov the heli cause it can withstand that. I think all went wrong is belly scratched.. Maybe a couple antennas...

Just found it, this was N900MH, the 8th testframe being put through landing gear tests by MD helicopters before going into production. It just goes to show how strong these aircraft are!
H/V curve test.

If It was a Eurocopter it would have split
its Pants! Nothing like a solid aircraft built around its occupants.
