:( this makes me think of my dog. he's my buddy, he follows me EVERYWHERE i go, and he's slept with me undermy bed since we got him, i try to let him up on the bed at the foot, but just jumps back down....now im in college and i only get to see him whenever i take a trip home, and our newer dog we've gotten beats him up so he doesn't come from behind our dining table or from downstairs, he's tortured :( and he just waits for me to come home.

For those ignorant people. The Hachiko story is REAL ! I come from Japan and this is a valid one and there is a statue of Hachiko at the front of the Tokyo Shibuya Station honoring the loyalty of this dog who's master did not come back one day at the station as he had passed away, but Hachiko kep going to the station every day at the same time to greet his master.

I believe Haichi went to the station every day to wait for his master that never came home. Ive read the original japanese description and the Remake US version and both say Haichi went same time everyday and Professor and Dog would walk home together.
@carolinedinh This is not the first time a dog has done something like this, google the name greyfriars bobby, that little dog guarded his masters grave for 14 years, so its not always about the dogs stomach....

i loved this movie so much. i cried so much. i can never bring myself to watch it again though. animals are so much better than we are. in nature, they only kill what they need - we as humans kill just for the sport. it's a shame.

@carolinedinh Hachikō has several monuments erected to his memory in Japan. His remains are in the National Science Museum of Japan. That is a lot of people he fooled if he was just a dog that wanted Scooby snacks from strangers.

My in-laws got separated from their dog while on vacation. They looked for her for a week then finally had to return home. That dog showed up at their front door, 400 miles away, a few months later with a broken leg. This happened approx. five years ago and I am still amazed by it. I wish she had a doggy cam on. I would love to see her journey.

@invsiblevampire ill explain... the owner died while teaching kids in university by heart attack. the dogs waited there every single day for the last train, the owners grandson moved somewhere else and took the dog with them , the dog ran away and waited for the last train again. they got the dog back. but then the grandson let the dog go. the dog became famous around that town, this man has a hotdog stand and feeds the dog everyday.
so when i was in fourth grade, i read the book and cried so many times, it was just so sweet. and then a few years later, we got an akita<3 and then the movie came out and my akita was staring up @ the tv watching it, too. i dnt believe akitas r loyal like tht anymore, but theyre very protective:)

@mizkim10 The movie is for sale on DVD at Wal-Mart, so I imagine you can rent it from Blockbuster or Netflix. Don't bother watching it on youtube. There would be too many parts to it to try to get it from start to finish. It's a story worth the effort to rent or buy. I own it. It's that good.

ya this stuff always bings a tear to my eye, I cared for my fathers dog when he became sick, and him and my hound were close, he looked long at the door when she finally never came home, and finally the same when dad never did. Its good that he has a good place to spend his last days though (very old).
Thinking about it, when a dog loses a friend, it doesn't know why and just waits until they return and wonders why they left. Poor dog doesn't know :[
Saw this movie when I was in thailand. Back home I probably wouldn't have watched it, but since it was the only English movie on we ended up watching it and I'm very happy we did. Wonderful touching movie. Just the right ballance of emotions IMO. Very well done and worth seeing for everyone.

This makes me miss my dog Dallas. He died suddenly right after I moved away for college. He was the cutest, most wonderful and caring dog in the world, and there will never be another dog like him. I regret that I couldn't even be by his side when he got sick even though he was by mine when I fell ill.

Hatchi is such a loyal dog. I was watching the video about a dog in japan who doesn't leave his or her hurt friends side. This proves that dogs are really loyal. What a sad video but it really shows a different side of dogs. Beautiful!
I did not even know this movie was made, which surprises me since i am a big fan of Richard Gere movies. After watching your clips, i know that i have to get a dvd of this movie! I know it will kill me to watch it, but i just have to see it! I am an avid animal lover and have several dogs of my own so i guarantee you i will most likely not make it past the first half hour of this movie before i begin to cry... especially since i know how this is to end... i have seen the statue after googling and what the locals did was awesome in respect to the dog for being so loyal to his master.

Wow...when I clicked on the video I was just like "Oh I'm not going to cry" but after it was over I literally had a lake of tears on the desk :'( so touching....animals are awesome!

@invsiblevampire ill explain... the owner died while teaching kids in university by heart attack. the dogs waited there every single day for the last train, the owners grandson moved somewhere else and took the dog with them , the dog ran away and waited for the last train again. they got the dog back. but then the grandson let the dog go. the dog became famous around that town, this man has a hotdog stand and feeds the dog everyday.

so when i was in fourth grade, i read the book and cried so many times, it was just so sweet. and then a few years later, we got an akita<3 and then the movie came out and my akita was staring up @ the tv watching it, too. i dnt believe akitas r loyal like tht anymore, but theyre very protective:)

There's a statue of Hachiko in Japan. I first heard the story when I saw the statue it's sad, but still wonderful.

@mizkim10 The movie is for sale on DVD at Wal-Mart, so I imagine you can rent it from Blockbuster or Netflix. Don't bother watching it on youtube. There would be too many parts to it to try to get it from start to finish. It's a story worth the effort to rent or buy. I own it. It's that good.

ya this stuff always bings a tear to my eye, I cared for my fathers dog when he became sick, and him and my hound were close, he looked long at the door when she finally never came home, and finally the same when dad never did. Its good that he has a good place to spend his last days though (very old).

Saw this movie when I was in thailand. Back home I probably wouldn't have watched it, but since it was the only English movie on we ended up watching it and I'm very happy we did. Wonderful touching movie. Just the right ballance of emotions IMO. Very well done and worth seeing for everyone.

OMG dude! i nver saw the movie, i dont know why but this thing made me cry(tried to hold it in coz my famly is in front of me) i never cry over a movie, cept "i am legend" when sam died, i hate it when people comment about dislike ratings but im pretty sure that one dislike was a mistake.

This makes me miss my dog Dallas. He died suddenly right after I moved away for college. He was the cutest, most wonderful and caring dog in the world, and there will never be another dog like him. I regret that I couldn't even be by his side when he got sick even though he was by mine when I fell ill.
Dallas I miss you so much. Even though you shed all over the carpet and stole food out of the cabinets, I love you dearly and hope you forgive me.

Hatchi is such a loyal dog. I was watching the video about a dog in japan who doesn't leave his or her hurt friends side. This proves that dogs are really loyal. What a sad video but it really shows a different side of dogs. Beautiful!

I did not even know this movie was made, which surprises me since i am a big fan of Richard Gere movies. After watching your clips, i know that i have to get a dvd of this movie! I know it will kill me to watch it, but i just have to see it! I am an avid animal lover and have several dogs of my own so i guarantee you i will most likely not make it past the first half hour of this movie before i begin to cry... especially since i know how this is to end... I thank you for the introduction!
