i have a windows 7 upgrade instal disk i was wondering of i could clean install it cause i did the upgrade from xp to 7 and have had quite a few problems plus my cd key has been already activated so am i stuck on buying another cd key or is there a way to recover that ??
if you get a upgrade disk can't you do a clean install with custom advanced?(I installed Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7600) Please answer my question I did a Custom install of windows 7 on my laptop and it said all old windows files will be on a windows.old. file so after the installation I deleted the windows.old. file so isn't that a clean installation?
If you selected "Custom Install", it should have erased everything on that hard drive and installed Win 7. So the answer to your question is: "yes, you have a clean install"
@PokemonMasterJT This video is true if your a total amateur. You have to prepare your computer for upgrades obvious ha? Have to scan your registry for errors and have all error free also clean your house. When you get a new printer you would not put it on a dirty desk would you. You clean the desk and than sit the printer on top do the same with your computer. Clean your disk and scan it for errors. This way upgrade is more smooth. Even though upgrades are not perfect they work.
upgrades are actually slower, becuase it has to install the the OS and then it has to transfer all the files. upgrade is cheaper becuase it uses the cd key that you had in the previous version. Clean install is cleaner technically speaking becuase there are no program problems or extra registry entries (slow down comp).
But i understand you saying that upgrade is cleaner cuase files are there. For the speedup look at this website it really says it all (other coment)
You can use the upgrade media to install windows 7 on your windows xp laptop. But you can only clean install (you can also clean install if you have vista).
