Hey man, I understand what you are talking about completely. After I do salvia I find that my natural identification process has been completely blown to shit.

Salvia leafs do not contain enough salvinorin to make much happen if you smoke them, since the minute amount would be digested before effects are noticed.

Extracts contain so much more salvinorin, so that you are able to have enough to pump through your veins in time to get the effects, and have them last.

Chewing the leaves seems to make the salvinorin stay in the blood stream longer. But, like you and Terrence have said, they're terrible to chew.

(By the way, it's not soluble in water, FYI.)

I've smoked it and chewed the leaves. Smoking it left me feeling fucked up and out of control. Chewing the leaves however gave a totally different trip. I was in total darkness, with the exception of the moon's light. The trip lasted about 4 times longer and although it was still intense it didn't make me feel sweaty and itchy like smoking it sometimes does.

I believe that there was some misunderstanding about the Spanish name when Terence gave this talk. Instead of "ojos" (which means "eyes") it was actually "hojas" (which means "leaves"). Although I like the idea of "eyes of the shepardess", and this in no way detracts from the import of his talk.

Thanks for pointing this out! I have passed on to others the same "Eyes of the shepherdess". Now we know how language can morph or evolve.

Perhaps Terrence did this deliberately in order to evolve the words to describe Salvia. maybe even subconsciously. But more than likely it was just "lost in translation".

The important point being the term "shepherdess".
