I don't know why people are making such a big deal out of "what was played." In fact, he didn't "play" much of anything that I saw. He did a quick, odd-sounding fingerpick with what looks like three fingers. I play acoustic, and that action in itself isn't worth a crap...I play with all 5 fingers. The simplest of people could play on a nylon string guitar, and it requires very little hand strength to fret anything. One can play faster because the strings are softer, as well.

They use nylon strings to get a different tone apart from steel strings. It's a classical/spanish guitar, basically.

Well, to be fair he do play something.

In the beginning he just show the kid how to play an arpeggio, but when he goes "Practice this, every day", Antonio play "Alacran y Pistolero", a traditional mariachi song.

Oh, and btw, for what concerns the right hand, in no music school that i know 'bout (classical, spanish, ...) you end up using your pinky.

if you're interested in good technical spanish (flamenco) music watch some of paco de lucia's videos for example entre dos aguas...

back again was just tryin to work out the notes heres wot i got so far.....

1st position

low E-G

high B

low A and high C together

high A

Then put on the B7 chord and pluck notes downwards starting from second to top string

high G and E

then play all again

after B7 chord play high G, F# , E

The song that everyone is looking for i think its "Alacran Y Pistolero", you can find the tab on quite a lot of tab sites. Banderas is playing a slightly different version of it, but once you get that its not hard to figure it out. Hope that helps.

i guess what he means is that you have to use your right-hand-fingers (i,m,a) index,middle and ring - finger...coz if you watch the boy playing you see he's just using his thumb and not his fingers - that's why he's playin so slow...at least i guess...

First off, the guitar that he is playing, is not an actual acoutic guitar. It is another instrument called a "vihuela" in spanish. I am not sure what it is called in english. I have been looking for this tune for a while and cannot find it anywhere. Oh and if you look closesly, this instrument only has 5 strings, thats how u know its not an actual guitar. Hopefully this post helps u guys. At the end of this video, the kid gets up and u can see that there are only 5 nobs for the strings. Thanks.

I dont think you get it.

He doesn't explain a secret, its just a movie.

all he's doing is arpeggios with his middle, ring, and index finger. And the only way to do that fast is to keep practicing that movie.

other then that, my video is the same tune, with a few differences. that was a year ago though. now i can play the faster part at the end, by arpeggiating.
