Totally awesome picture. I've always been amazed at how people can to this stuff. If I may add though; While it does look pretty close to House (Hugh), His face could stand to be a little longer, and he needs the stubble. Other than that, the pic is amazing. Great job.

You've been getting so much shit its impossible not to want to defend you: you are NOT a bad artist, just because it doesn't necessarily look like House doesn't make the coloring, shading and line art any less beautiful. People focus so much on the big picture that they often overlook small details and the amount of effort put into this piece, which is an incredible feat in itself.

Art is subjective; it doesn't need to follow a criteria, that's why things like abstract and pointillism exist. I never called his work a masterpiece either, I'm just praising his effort. It's a fairly well done picture, and I think the work you did on his suit is phenomenal, as is the lighting. However, his face, the centerpiece of the whole image, isn't done that well. For one, his chin is much longer, his face is thinner, and the eyes shouldn't "stick out" that much; in the shot from the show, the light/shadows made them darker. I know you're going to use the "artistic license" line, but frankly I'd rather have an image that actually looks like him than one that just doesn't.

Seriosuly people like that really should just do their own hugh Laurie drawing and post it on youtube, then at least i'd have a little respect for them even though they're very primitive with their language.

@MrDangmal what you put in quotes is not what I said at all. the concept i was describing is called "artistic license" (read the comment) its the practice of over/under exagerating certain features to make it more interesting. I like this pose hence I used it and I already admitted that it doesnt look exactly like him and my mistakes WERE'NT intentional (read the comment), and I put more emphasis on light, color balances and individual FEATURES (read the FUCKING comment)

@Zapilliphino22 really its alot like sculpting, im just playing witht he balance of light and dark and the shape of his cheek. I suppose i could be a little more decisive and screw around less but I definitly wouldnt put down a flat color and then add shadows because it doesnt allow me to add as much roundness and depth as when I do it this way.

@terrorman21 thanks, and I see where your coming from and I agree, the shape isnt precise, and not on purpose. but I find that the most importance should be placed on the features and their ability to connect back to the orignal, not the shape, after all a reproduced work should have some minor differnces otherwise its not interesting, I could just as easily copy and pasted an image and saved myself hours on end.

@duffman5094 i can more than confirm it. search for Hugh laurie "sophisticated song" then search for fry and laurie musical numbers. back in the day he was really into music and comedy, fry and laurie is his old show. I highly doubt he is autotuned in this, especially since he can really isng and play piano

thanks for the criticism, I agree on the first part. The features don't do the true image justice. artists tend to use inaccuracies to put emphasis on certain features that are more prominent. its a skill that I understand but havnt mastered. as for the second part. I implore you to google the image, you will see that on Laurie as on any man, eyes are not symetrical. but your right I didnt capture his exact eye shape or position and since the eyes are the focal point it takes away from the image
