  • is this route impassable with out the snow or can it be climbed in fall

  • @justwired It is hiked up in summer every so often, just make sure you do the approach the legal way.

  • Been there, done that

  • The area at 5,600 feet looks like a "snow tounge". Tons of snow piles up there? Is that accumulation there from avalanches during heavy snows up higher??

  • Yep, that's the snow tongue. Depends on when you go, but later on (April), that's usually the furthest down the snow is.

  • Dude, when did you do the hike? What Month? Me and my buddy (some starbucks coworkers, seriously) are planning on going this fall. What area did you leave from? Did you go up the PCT or just mountaineer style?

  • Hah, I still work at Starbucks.

We went on 20080329, March 29, military date format.

You want to do Snow Creek in the fall? It's better as a winter alpine route. It ascends durectly up the most prominent couloir on the north face for something like 9,600ft or something.

  • Me and my buddies don't have winter equipment yet, so my buddy wants to go up the pct, do a couple nights camping, and then go down the tram. How many miles did you guys do on your trek? Did you camp? Did you leave from that road out by the snow creek residential area? What Starbucks do you work at? I'm at university/iowa in riverside.
