  • this isnt really related to this video but the usb ports on my pc give power and dont detect anything. ive tried disabling and enabling the drivers. using new drivers. unplgging my pc. and a few other things. im guessing the usb ports are not going to work any more. i have another computer that doesnt work and i was thinking about replacing some parts in it to see if it would fix my usb problem. anyone have any solutions or ideas on what i could do to fix this?

  • Another hard drive tip is to put your computer in Sleep mode when you aren't going to be using it for an hour or more. Or, just shut it down. Either way, if your system isn't actively running, your hard drive won't be doing any work, which thus equates to a longer lifespan.

Another good freeware tool to monitor your system temps and SMART is SpeedFan. Run it in Compatibility Mode for WinXP SP3 for best results.

  • I use an air compressor to blow the dust out of my computer, placing my finger in the cpu fan while blowing the dust out of the heatsink. Sometimes the fan should be removed first if the heatsink is very dirty. Blow the dust out of other components gently.

    Thanks for your excellent videos!

  • I add an 80mm fan under my hdd, installing it with pieces of 22 gauge copper wire, thin bailing wire, or something similar. Also add a fan under my video card, hanging it with pieces of string. You may have a better way of installing them, but you get the idea. I have used this method for years and it works well for my desktops. These fans are cheap and work nicely.

  • Or if your running xp just type defrag in the run. Also helps when you flush your dns cache.done by cmd promt. ipconfig/flushdns chkdsk utility also good, diskmgmt.msc will get you to disk managment,run-control panel-systemtools will also check your performance. without downloading extra things to your computer. Also helps to clean out your system log files. as well as your prefetch just don't delete your layout. Cceaner helps, avasti free antivirus, adaware along with superantispy helps both free.

  • Well made and informative video. Thank you!

  • 100% health and 35 c

  • use a gas canister and vacuum cleaner at the same time. that's what I do...

  • Or you can just search for backuping companies and they charge a monthly fee but keep all your data at their place so you can use it if it crashes. (ps i forgot the name so it backuping now rofl.)

  • Excuse me, CDs and flash drives do not have fast read/write times. The fastest you can expect a CD to spin in your drive is 52x and even then it'll only be reading 8MB/s. Fast flash drives are somewhere in the region of 18MB/s. And those are just the read times, write times will be much slower.

Your average hard drive these days can read and write at about 80MB/s

Please qualify what you mean by "fast" as you seem to have a different definition to everyone else.

  • 100% health 44 c

  • ive recently purchased two case fans for my computer and my performance has been increased also it it decreased my cpu temp by 22°c!! my old temp was 50°c now its 38°c!! so it does work!

  • i need some help over here, i got 2 type of Operation System and its both copies of each other, like one XP and an other XP, its not Users, its like two Different Systems, if u understand what i mean? plz, i need help to get rid of the one i dont use.

  • Is it in your Registry?

  • i dont know what u mean, but i can tell you whats happen... First we start the computer, the we wait for all the black screens with text shoud go, after a few black screens its comming another blackscreen with a menu and i can choose betwin Windows XP Operative system or Windows CP operative system, i in accedent made a copy of my old when i re-installed the computer, and i cant re-bot it.

  • Choose windows xp operating system. go into your registry start-run-regedit and delete every file that has a .2 after the file name. like example.2 or example.example.2 but if you see a file that has .5 after it don't touch and you might want to create a back up point or get 6 disks for manual copy. CP I think is cmd promt operative. Or you can just take it geek squad and pay them about 200-300+usd to fix it. A few black screens? there should only be 1 at start up. reboot? get a boot disk

  • @capricornGTR uhm, oh, ahah, i pressed C instead of X by mistake, silly me ^^ its two different XP operation system, and yeah, i maybe take it to my new school, easier to follow a swedish tut then a English one, when my computer is set on swedish^^ but thx, i think i know what you mean =) but im not that great with computers yet, so im not realy "yeah lets do this" atm. so i will w8 a while, its not realy a big thing, it doesnt take RAM anyway. but thx =)

  • BTW, im okkalange =)

  • Hahah temp:54 c Health;100%

  • Yo dude. I got windows XP Professional and with it came a c drive, d drive and e drive. The c drive has 4-5 gigs of space. The d drive has 68 gigs of space and the e drive has like... 116 gigs of space. My c drive is my primary drive and it has very little space. Do you know how i can take the space from my e or d drive and add it on to my c drive? I wana do this cuz a lot of things that i dl automatically go to my c drive so.. yea. Please try n help me. Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • acroniz disk director

  • you cant do that but what you can do is rearrange the connecting wires to your hard drive to make the E drive your primary witch will actually change it to the C drive

  • Whenever you download something, you have the option of changing the download location. My netbook has a C and D drive. I set limewire and bit torrent to download to the D drive. When I download programs, I change the download location before I finish installing it (every program gives you that option during the setup process). I think 3 drives is one too many. 2 is understandable...but 3? Just seems stupid, lol.

  • ha ha i have 7 (1,000 GB of space )

  • 7 drives on one hard drive? Why the hell would you need 7 drives? Even with a 1T hard drive, I still only have 2 drives and they're clutter free (being organized is a good thing, lol.) I just don't see the need to separate all that space. Just use 2 drives (or partitions I guess I should say). Then create folders for what would be your other drives. This just keeps from having to separate all that space and not have to worry about running out of room on one of the partitions.

  • yeah u dont need that such of space, i only use 250 totaly and its work for me!

  • ya your lucky with a large hard drive i only have 75gb

  • @matrix86 plus folders r just a partition u can delete if u don't need it n e more.

  • @matrix86 He use his PC as a web server so I think he want to seperate the web, the forum, the raw video or something like that.

  • terabyte is easier btw

  • be-very careful when using the vacuum cleaner as one static can be a problem.

  • temp is 0 health is 98 better than tinkernuts pc

  • temp is 0 health is 98%!!!

  • Umm... I think i need some advice. SERIOUSLY!

It says my computer temp is minus (-) 1 degrees Celsius and my Hard drives health is 1%. What should i do? Is this a bad thing? I just need a tad more info.

    Thanks.

  • thats so stupid that to easy for a 2 year old to know

  • Then why are you looking at videos if it sso stupid to know.

  • that happend to me yesterday :(

  • fourth tip will be, if you turn off comp and need to turn it back on wait 12 seconds because after 12 sec. the disks will have stopped. this will help to make longer HDD

  • so when you mean regular vacum cleaner

you mean non regular special non-static vacum cleaner

    makes sense

  • just a regular non-static vacuum cleaner should be fine...

  • how do i know if it is non-static

  • According to the HD Health thing, my hard drive is -1 degrees C. I'm going to have to bet that since my house is at 67 degrees F and I have been using my computer for a few hours now, that this isn't the case.

I'm using a laptop... does that screw anything up?

  • how come when i download both the apps it shows nothing..the app comes up but it shows no info

  • ..hahahahah get a bucket of water put some ice..and pour down your laptop..if its stop..its freeze..its youre fault...

  • donkey

  • why are my harddrive in my laptop so hot at 41C, can anyone advice wad to do to cool it down. i tried placing a coolfan underneath, but it doesn't help much..

  • thanks for the tips, i've downloaded the hddhealth and it works

  • One thing that gets me is any program I get to check my HDD's are working or not appear to not to be able to read the HDD's status. Both hard drives are S.M.A.R.T enabled and as is my motherboard but any program using SMART to get information about the Harddrive never seems to be able to detect my harddrives nor is able to tell me anything.

Its kind of annoying, because currently my hardrive with my vista install on it is currently beginning to fail (click whirling), and its been backed up.

  • ahahahah ! i actually laughed so hard at that.. =P ahahahaha Sh-dang!.. xD

  • always remember, electronics work much better with less resistance when its cold. once in a while when i get a dead HDD i stick it in the freezer for about 5 mins. sometimes it works most of the time is doesnt. but its always usefull if you need to retrieve data.

  • HEY THIS IS IMPORTANT:

vacuum cleaners can cause static electricity and can/will

DESTROY the elctrical equipment in the computer.

I would NEVER vacuum inside of computer.

  • thats if you bring the nosil to close to the motherbord

  • Yeah but it is fun!

  • mine doesnt say the temp...well...it says 0C and I know thats not right......what do i do?

  • Daniel .. from where you know all those stuffs ? Where you learn those things ?

  • your analogy for defragmenting was good :)

  • I like the way he makes Videos 5 stars ***** tinkernut is the BEST

  • lol, check out what household hacker posted in my channel

  • lol ahhaa

  • :|

household hacker.... hmmmm.... that guy.... hmmmm

  • Your new video format is AWESOME!

    5 Stars!

  • SSD hard drives are pretty good. Seen some around 100gig lately. There growing in size fast. I believe SSD will be the way of the future.

  • definitely =p

  • I don't get what the advantage of them is...

and apparently after a while they just stop working.

  • im missing the PC tuts, not been many for a while :-(

  • i always clean my pc :D

  • thanks for the tips, but can you please make a second video with the other information.

  • my hdd is show the high temp how can i reduce it ?

  • Same way you cool off anything. Trying giving it some space and air circulation within your computer case. Maybe add a fan or a heatsink (a chunk of metal with fins to conduct heat away from the device).

  • Great video, thanks a lot!

  • run Ccleaner and disk cleaner

  • thanks man, another great vid!!!!

  • thanks good ideas

  • vista defrag is garbage. get auslogics for free. wors better faster and less system load.
