Yes, since then I have done some research.. the hippos they are accepting is horrendous. However, it is NOT THEIR fault as to what their registered APBTs look like. They are simply a registry, there to register dogs. They do not look at every single dog to make sure it fits the standard (they should- but they register thousands of dogs) they are still more legit ADBA and AADR and CKC and crap.

I have become such a dog person that I won't date a girl who doesn't absolutely love dogs and I only feel truely at home when I am with my dogs. I love them both and they are like two jelous kids. Zeus and I have been through a lot together and we trust each other very much. He is extremely protective of me and I have to take that into consideration every time that we are around other people. I love my dogs and would never give one of them up.

Very true! The problem with kids is that they think all dogs are as nice as the one they have at home. Some dogs are not that nice and are trained for protection. Also, dogs much like humans are born with several different drives. Fight, Rank, Play, Hunt etc. and it is difficult to get a "rank" dog to lose that drive which was born into him. It can be controlled under most circumstances but when a dogs survival drive tells them they are in trouble, all bets are off. Love them all though!!!

I an a dog handler (malinois) I also have a female yellow lab. I don't have any kids, (my dogs fill that void) and my dogs haven't been properly socialized around kids. Although she is a big lover, my eight year old female lab would bite a kid in a heart beat if the kid traps her. Pits are not any worse or better. The handler makes all the difference in the world. For that reason, I don't let anyone's kids near my dogs. Some people just shouldn't have dogs! Or kids for that matter.

I have yet to find a pet owner who is a dip stick who has a super smart pet. Many times the owner isn't any smarter than the pet. That makes training them VERY difficult. Sadly, those same people raise kids who are just as bad.

Celticpits12, that's a great video... thank you for being an advocate. Pits (and other bully breeds) are some of the smartest, most loyal, goofy, friendly dogs around. I fear my bulldog's colossal amount of drool, but I trust her and she trusts me (and she's a rescue, used as a fighter and then abandoned when she was a puppy). Owners need to be responsible no matter what breed they have.

Im already looking at a choice because there is an Amstaff at the shelter who is only 7 months old, but he is a blue... Looks like a pit in every way TBH and if you ask me, im 50-50, but there is also a Staff as in shorty there too, he is black/brown stripes with a nice white flash around his head and white socks... Both are gorgeous, and teh shelter have given me a week to decide, so me and the kids are going up there on saturday... Its up to them to make the decision.
