Don't you just love how all the ppl that have the interceptor replicas are American while back here in Australia I don't think anyone has an Interceptor replica...... Makes me laugh... Nice replica btw :-). xo
I tried to build the same thing back in the 90s with a 73 mustang fastback. It turned out really cool but it was most certainly no Mad Max Road Warrior.
@PatrolmanDark. I see on your tags that you are American. How did you get an XB over there? Mad Max was filmed all around where I live and up the 60odd k road I travelled to work on for years. Two parts of Ghost Rider was also filmed on the same stretch of road where Nightrider was blown up. I drove thru the set one morning after filming.
@CatsArePremiers07 - Mad Max began my love of things Australian. When the opportunity came up for me to buy the car from the documentary "Back 2 The Max", I did everything I had to - to buy it, and have it shipped to the US, then across half the country to me in Texas. I envy you, living so close to where I will one day spend a ton of money to fly to and visit. Just to stand on that particular empty road.
@PatrolmanDark So is that one of the the originals? if you don't mind me asking what was ths cost? I've got a 64 Falcon 2dr sedan with a 302 roller go Ford!!! Do you have any horsepower figures? Either way an awesome car from one of my all time favorite movies!!!
@ckelley63 - There were only ever 2 built for the films and they're both accounted for. This one was built later for promotions and exhibitions like the documentary "Back 2 The Max". The cost was more than my yearly salary. Love the early Falcons, too. I've never put it on the dyno. I think of it like Rolls Royce used to answer when asked how much horsepower in their cars - "Sufficient."
@PatrolmanDark Hahah! It's the Bacchus Marsh/Geelong Road (for those of us who live in Geelong it's just the Bacchus Marsh Rd) . It's definitely not empty esp when you're late to work and it's choc full of trucks and cars doing under the speed limit. :( It's not a great road either- Ive seen heaps of cars on their roofs, the road floods and gets a tad scary and I've even seen a death.
@PatrolmanDark You can check out the road on Google Maps. The scene where they smash thru the caravan is the south end of Forest Rd Lara, and where the bloke loses his hand on the panel van is Avalon Beach Lara. Where the tanker blows up at the end and Max drives off up the hill is the intersection of Greigs Rd/Nerowie Rd at Exford, just south of Melton where I worked.
@PatrolmanDark More specifically (cause I'm pedantic!) Nightrider blows up just south of the intersection of BirdsRd and Sharkey Rd, which is also the same intersection where Johnny Blaze makes a pact with the devil. The council removed most of the rocks from the side of the road that you see in the movie about 12 years ago. The mountain is called the You Yangs.
so cool i love mad max movies, i'm jelous you have the car, all my vehicles i ever owned i usaully take off or customize something for that mad max look
@PatrolmanDark Thats what my mate used to get from his stinking hot 327 chev around 6 to the gallon but that was back when we could get juice for about 15 cents a litre
@Patryk737 I was going to buy a 1970 Plymouth Superbird. (440 4bbl) My dad told me to ask the guy what kind of gas mileage it got. I knew it was a stupid question but I asked the guy anyway. He said if you are worried about gas mileage you don't need this car.
@PatrolmanDark Sweet Ride.. I'm sure there's one or two out there in someones Barn.. somewhere probably in the Deep South.. check.. Texas. They had them as police cars.. and I cant even imagine where else. That's A Sweet Ride.
@Mrbooboo1972 - I believe you're thinking of the 133 AMC Javelins used by the Alabama Department of Public Safety for pursuit and highway patrol. This is a Ford Falcon, made exclusively by Ford of Australia. The US used to make a different Falcon, but stopped in 1970.
The Ford which saved ford australia, of course this mad max version of the car is so bad ass, looks a little like a vk Commodre at the front or trans am
@berserker2111 - I'm sorry, Berserker, but that information is incorrect. They made only made one for Mad Max, and a second one for backup (this one was blown up). That's it. Two were officially made. Mind was made after the fact for exhibitions and a documentary, Back 2 The Max. This one is called "The Last of the V8 Interceptors" because it is referred to as such in MM2. The source of my information is the guys who were there.
This is great! I love these cars. The '73 XB Coupe is in the Forza 4 racing game for Xbox... It might be the closest thing I'll get to driving a real "V8 Interceptor!" All that aside, this is a beautiful car you have.
Damn, I remember this is my allaround fav car, too bad the supercharger on the film was fake and only cosmetic, but yours look operational...badass mean falcon.
@kless001 - Yessir! And keep in mind that Aussies used to RACE these beasts. Really worth searching on "70's Bathurst" to see insanely brave and talented (crazy?) guys flinging these huge machines around. If there are heroes in racing, it's Aussies of that era.
@PatrolmanDark it seems that the best place in the world for top end muscle / burnout / drag cars is Australia that take it a bit too serious i think :p
The way things are now, we all are like Road-Warriors. Especially people looking for scrap-metal the way they have some of vehicles set up looking for scrap to make some kind of money.
@GameStalker2 - To clean, I recommend soap. :D But if you're saying that the Interceptor is too clean, well, there's a reason for that. I've tried dirtying it up, but the paint they put on movie cars is very thin, and the pH of the dirt caused a bad reaction with the paint which required hours of careful buffing to remove. So I just let it reach a certain level of dirtiness, then clean it to keep it in good shape - it's 38 years old.
OF COARSE NOT REVERSE!!!!!!! I clutch brake all the time in my ranger ford!!! ha ha ha,really decked out with all that gear!!! this is the real thing here and for those who had heroes keep the legends alive and so on.....clutch brake my friend clutch brake ask a trucker about that one....
@HERMAN78X - Thank you, sir! Yes, I documented it at the beginning of the comments section, here it is again: You get up speed, then clutch in, shift to a gear lower than you would normally. Begin braking hard to transfer weight to the front, then begin letting the clutch out smoothly and gradually.
@unitednudistmop - Not very likely. Dragging is very hard on many components, if you do it right. This car has too much worth (not just fiscal) for me to treat it as a drag car.

Mel, I don't know what's going on with him, but he's welcome to a ride.
@skidpiggy - Yes, they made them using Ford Falcon XBs. The car was put into a container, then the container onto a container ship. The ship sailed from Australia to the USA, landed at Portland where it was unloaded from the container, went through customs, then put in enclosed car carrier and brought to my city.
@PatrolmanDark yehh theres a yellow falcon xb sitting in the neighbours front lawn a couple of houses up its in pretty bad condition but i might offer him 50 bucks or so for it just for the sake of it haha.....of and by the way i live in Australia so..
@YTYT7777777 - Keep in mind it is almost 40 years old, and there's still a ton of modern performance cars out there with a live rear axle. I think a lot of it comes down to cost. Sure, you can have an IRS rear-end, but the cost can be quite steep. :)
@AronEmil1 - You really can't tell the difference between a large black car with a blower and fuel tanks in the back and a silver stainless steel car with gullwing doors and a nuclear device in the back? Heh... Now THAT's funny!
@MGazT - Clearly the Interceptor. The DeLorean uses a 6-cylinder Peugeot engine, producing 130 horsepower. The Interceptor uses a V8, the 351 Cleveland, producing, officially, a gazillion horsepower.
agree... tho i have seen twin turbo DMC deloreans with other stage tuning work. but no idea what kind of power they make. I just thought it would be fun to see these two film icons together :')

lol at the passenger seat flopping forward when the car comes to a stop. A very cool car though, with the motor to back up the looks.

@benny334 - Same as the first two, a 351 Cleveland.

@YTYT7777777 - Keep in mind it is almost 40 years old, and there's still a ton of modern performance cars out there with a live rear axle. I think a lot of it comes down to cost. Sure, you can have an IRS rear-end, but the cost can be quite steep. :)

@PatrolmanDark that's also what i've read; the combination of a V8 and independant rear wheel drive makes for steep prices.
(that's why the current type of mustang also has the solid rear end)

@AronEmil1 - You really can't tell the difference between a large black car with a blower and fuel tanks in the back and a silver stainless steel car with gullwing doors and a nuclear device in the back? Heh... Now THAT's funny!

@PatrolmanDark
great Scott! i think the two should have a race on you tube tho.. be mint. who would win?
MGazT 8 months ago
@MGazT - Clearly the Interceptor. The DeLorean uses a 6-cylinder Peugeot engine, producing 130 horsepower. The Interceptor uses a V8, the 351 Cleveland, producing, officially, a gazillion horsepower.

@PatrolmanDark
agree... tho i have seen twin turbo DMC deloreans with other stage tuning work. but no idea what kind of power they make. I just thought it would be fun to see these two film icons together :')

@MGazT - I totally agree, I'd be thrilled to show the Interceptor with a fully tricked out Delorean!
