Seeing a city get systematically firebombed for the sole aim of leveling it, terrorizing and murdering as many people as possible is not cool.
While the outskirts of Dresden had legitimate military targets, none of them were even selected as targets and the weather was clear with pathfinders illuminating the city center clearly with flares.
Sure there were pretexts for bombings of this sort (terror-bombing), but that doesn't change what it really was mean to do. Ever heard of Giulio Douhet?

Most Germans accept this and have moved on to make Germany the fiercely democratic country it now is! I lived in Germany from 1945 to 1953 adn speak from personal experience.
You fools have to learn that when the heroes of the Luftwaffe started the peaceful city-bombing campaign with the justifiable killing of 240,000 cowardly Poles in Warsaw in 1939, that was very different from the disgusting cowardly RAF using terror- bombing tactics against the peace-loving German people. We were forced by the Jew Churchill to invade France, Belgium, Holland Russia etc. The Jewish bankers forced us to set up the death camps. Peace-loving Germans did not want the Holocaust
The 240,000 who were killed in Warsaw (wiki) by the Luftwaffe in Sept 1939 did not deserve to be killed nor did the hundreds of thousands murdered by Einsatzgruppen nor the millions, shot, gassed, hung, beaten or starved to death in the camps but they died nonetheless. Those who died in London by the V2 rockets which were still falling while Dresen was being bombed did not deserve to die. Boming stopped the poison gas made in Chemische Fabrik Goye in Dresden from killing many more people.
My understanding of the obliteration of Dresden is that Stalin demanded an act of war of Churchill and Roosevelt to prove their committment to their "gallant ally" the Soviet Union. The wholesale destruction of one of the most beautiful and historic European cities along with the mass murder of its inhabitants was the result of this demonstration of loyalty to a man every bit as evil as Adolf Hitler.
The cool part wasn't the firebombing - it was Campbell's uniform! Boy, that outfit would have fit right in at any Gay Pride Parade! Lazzaro was right.
To refer to the complete desolation of a city (one of the few in Germany that remained free of Hitler's touch during his campaign) as "the cool part" is depressing. Thousands of innocent people killed, and all because the US and Britain wanted to show their teeth...

@antiquax Are you saying that every single German is responsible for the Holocaust? They were called the secret death camps for a reason. What about the attempted coup? The opposition within Germany? It is hard to overthrow a government with absolute power. What happened in Germany could have happened anywhere, hell, it still does. Stalin and Mao killed more of their own people than Hitler.

If the Axis had won, the world would be a paradise right now instead of a nightmare.
