I think in his heart Teddy would have always loved Jo. He belonged to her and she belonged to him. From the moment that Jo and Laurie met, they were soulmates, and I don't think their friendship would have ended if they'd gotten married.

sigh. every time I read a book my heart devotes itself to a romance that never happens... :(

@fairywannabe- Case in point, when Amy burned Jo's manuscript, she vowed never to speak another word to her own dear sis again. Since Jo felt that "passionate about writing" I dont think Teddy would ever or did ever understand that. I would hate to see Jo get married to Laurie only to find a strong longing towards Mr. Bhaer. :-D

well Maybe Jo didnt know what she wanted at the time. She figured it out later that it wasn't Laurie. Lets all be honest Mr. Bhaer was perfect for Jo...they both shared enjoyment for the same books( and memerized the same favorite parts in those books). Laurie stated " I dont want them (books) now...I will not be taking all of dickens to harvard (with me)." Sorry but, Mr. Bhaer took along of his beloved books with him. Mr. Bhaer loved books as much as Jo. That was their passion.

love this.. i remember watching this as a little girl and literally crying so hard when Jo rejected Laurie LOL i was so devastated! They would have been perfect together! Eighteen years later and i still think so haha

Also that's face it Amy was really in love with Laurie from the beginning. In the book Jo even told him that if he had been more patient it would have happened sooner. It just took him seeing Amy as a woman to realize who his match really was. And just because people make great friends doesn't make them a great couple. I think Jo would have run over Laurie so bad.

Louisa May Alcott was an old maid, the similarity between her and Jane Austen is amazing. Although they lived it different time periods, their works are classics. My suggestion to princebuddy08 is to read LMA's sequels to Little Women: Little Men, and Jo's Boys(the relationship between Jo and Laurie continues)

yes but when the book came out people were upset that jo didnt end up with laurie and she said my life wasnt happy so why should hers be? which i thought was pretty nifty when i read that

I liked these two as well but I don't think they would have been happy for long becuase Jo was far too spirited for Laurie. If she had married him she would had to live the role expected of a proper lady. Which we all know would have destroyed her personality that was the point that was being made for example when Laurie told her she wouldn't have to write he simply didn't understand that she did it because she loved it. Amy was a much better match for him because she was already in that role.

Trivia - Louisa May Alcott received a lot of letters saying Jo & Laurie should have married, but she purposely separated them; explaining it using Marmee, when Marmee tells Jo she did the right thing in not accepting Laurie's proposal.

I love this movie, but the ending sucks! (JK) Laurie and Jo should have ended up together! The ending went against all the love story rules! I mean come on their chemistry together was incredible and Laurie was crazy about her. Laurie never stopped loving her, he just married her sister just so he would have an excuse to come over to their house. Come on Jo it's Christian Bale who wouldn't marry hiM? But I also liked Laurie in the book too, so yeah In my mind they should have gotten married.

Ok. I guess I'm the only one who's happy with Jo marrying Proffesor Bhaer (can't spell). Laurie and Jo's relationship kinda reminds me of my friend (let's call him Michael) and me. I've known him for forever, we're a lot alike, and I love the guy, but if he asked me to marry him, I'd say no. It'd be too weird, it'd be like marrying my brother. That's just my reasoning on it.

when i read the first part of little women, i really was excited about jo and teddy's tandem..i got so disappointed reading the chapter "heartache"..but then again, ms. alcott had her reasons, as marmee march said, they're "too much alike" it's too bad they did not end up the way they did in this video..and i'm so hyped to find out that there are a lot of fans of little women that i expected..:-)

This is quite pretty. Being an avid fan of "Little Women" I agree with most that Jo and Laurie should have been together. But, their not being together is what brings a lot of magic to all of us readers---they are the opposites that never meet. And sometimes, the romance that never was causes the most dreams. "What If" can be almost just as beautiful as "Happily Ever After." Oh, that Laurie Lawrence! When I was 13, I was SO in love. :)
