  • Psssst, kleine Kleinigkeit: Kannst du den test zu deinem video ändern? es müsste besser heißen " has been oil fueled since 1956" ( Für seit-Sätze muss man das Perfect nehmen, sonst heißt das "since" 'weil' oder 'da'.

  • Nice high-speed take off for an old steamer! Surprised me with the acceleration rate.

  • i think one of this train drove 200 kmh

  • I have seen a picture of the locomotive on a turntable, a bit rusted. I cannot remember where I have seen it, but it is not an "unknown location".

  • Baureiche 01 in aerodinamic shape is wery rare steam locomotive. I believe i see her someday at Wosztyn steamlokomotive parade in Poland

  • Very good video, Greetings from Costa Rica

  • SIMPLE PERFECT !!!

    Maybe one day.......

  • The Most Beautiful Loco!

  • Nothing will ever beat the world famous Sir Nigel Gresley locomotives:

The A1/3 Pacific class 'Flying Scotsman' and record breaking A4 Pacific 'Mallard' .

  • @ROCKSOLID19 yah I must agree I will finally get to see and ride behind my first A4 next month I will be on a train out of Kings Cross in London pulled by an A4 the Bittern and I understand we pick up the Sir Nigel Gresley out there somewhere too and a few Black 5s(sorry if i got that part wrong) along the way

  • Needs the Nazi eagle of the DRB to make it perfect -

  • @TheBeechingAxe I agree with you but i doubt anyone will allow that over there hell I got chewed out by a German crew when I asked about an old DR Passenger car I was told used by high ranking Nazi officals in the 30s the dinner was much to fancy for everyday passengers apparentlly nazi is a NO NO to mention there anymore and shuned upon

  • I don't understand why the Germans put up with ugly grafitti on their trains. We don't have such a problem in Japan.

  • i watch train vids with my 2 year old. he's in love with chuggington and when he saw this train said 'mommy its olwin'. would you ever do a slideshow of chuggington/thomas trains and real life trains together? i dont know enough about the real things to ven try

  • I would go there just to watch the beast move down the tracks and see if i could get on to ride the train. Also great video.

  • Looks to me like this old tea kettle should have been scrap, cut apart & melted 65 years ago!

  • @Cockroach2008 Yeah, well it wasn't so tough up and learn to deal with it.

  • @Paraffinmeister Too bad it wasn't junked! there are many people who will pay dearly for the parts from this junker! All that needs to happen is someone take the parts off & deliver them to the black market.

Riches beyond your wildest dreams await!

  • @Cockroach2008 It wasn't and it's worth more in one piece than it ever would be as scrap. Deal with it and stop trolling.

  • @Paraffinmeister Still the pieces return very handsome sums of CASH! And NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

The day is quickly coming when parts will be removed & sold for their collectible value!

Then to everyone's delight, this steam locomotive will be scrapped, cut apart & melted!

Tough up & deal with it!

  • @Cockroach2008 And on that day, you might actually get laid.=P Like I said, never going to happen.=)

  • @Paraffinmeister Don't worry my friend. It is going to happen. There is just too much easy money to be made in the black market on these parts.

  • @Cockroach2008 It just isn't, grow up and learn to deal with that.

  • @Paraffinmeister It just is! Grow up & learn to deal with it!

It is on the hit list!

The remaining steam locomotives are on a list which are targeted for "parts stripping".

It will not be long. You will know when it happens!

Will you be with us when we celebrate the day?

    Junk the steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 So many empty promises. We all know it'll never happen.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister You will know it is a promise when it happens!=P

  • @Cockroach2008 ...except it never will.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister It will.

Just continue to bury your head in the sand.

When it is all over, we will tap you on the tail feathers to let you know it is safe to pull your head above ground.

We will have a fresh dry crying towel for you!

These things are worth more as a whole! However, the parts are worth enough to pique the interest of those who need QUICK CASH!

Hey guys, you know where it is, you know the lax security system surrounding it, I would say it is time to help yourselves!

  • @Cockroach2008 Give it up, we all know it'll never happen so save yourself the bother of leaving these pointless comments and give give up.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister It is going to happen. Believe what you wish to believe. Think these statements as pointless if you care to.

It is no bother to me to tell the truth. These steam locomotives are high on the target list for parts thievery!

You don't have to believe it if you don't care to, but when the machines are stripped, remember, you were told!

  • @koelschwolf that would be a Class 03 =) not a 01.1

  • 0:42 is that a sk800? if it is a sk800 i never thought there was any real ones left

  • Take a look at my production. You can find the trains, the Finnish army, the beautiful scenery of Finland, folk music, sailing ship "Sedov", martial arts, sports, art exhibitions, animations, a lot of Super 8 films and others interesting!

  • its fun to use this engine in trainz

  • it second fastest all time 126.2 mph

  • @paul8246: No. It's a 01.10 (4-6-2), the record locomotive was a 05 (4-6-4).

  • it second fastest in the world it 126.2 mph

  • nice

  • What vintage are these steamers?

  • I've footplated a 110 electric and boy, do they bounce!

  • Fantastic loco!! She still has the eagle sans swastika on her nose.

  • beautiful locomotive

  • I love these German streamliner locomotives! This is a good clip, clear, if sound not perfect.... Since you posted the video originally - has the loco been inspected or repaired, or is it even viewed as a static exhibit now?

  • thanks!

AFAIK it is just stored away at the moment.

  • I love this engine, currently searching for one to pull my panzer train.

  • Uh, this does not have great sound. In fact, not to be a hater, but it's poor.

  • data:

built in 1940 in Berlin by L.Schwarzkopff AG

maximum speed (licensed by German Federal Railway Authority) 150 km/h

after the second world war, the cleading was dismantled, and all 01.10 locomotives (54 exemplars) got a high duty boiler by Henschel in Kassel (in 1954-1956). In 1972 this loco was rejected.

The city ´´Bebra´´ (a railway junction) was buy this loco as memorial. After 22 Years, an investor from Austria was giving a lot of money to restore it.

  • this locomotive hasn´t an accident.

the general inspection will be doing by there.

And the old investor is out of money to pay this expensive inspection...

  • what kind of accident happened that the loco is no longer in use ???

  • AFAIK another train ran into it.

  • There was a clip of the accident going around, sorry can't point you to it.

  • @chbitter From what I've heard, a turntable on which it was collapsed.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks you, Videos veyr nice, 5★★★★★

  • what accident was this

  • That was funny looking at first glance, but then after further observation... AWSOME

  • Locomotive 01 1102 ran like a clock in this video. It's a terrible loss to keep her hidden away and unfixed.

  • what do you mean by 3 cylinders? hows that work?

  • the locomotive has two outer cylinders like any other steam locomotive and one inner cylinder (that one can´t see) that usually drives the third axle.

  • Yep, you can hear six clear exhausts per turn of the wheels as she starts off......

  • @F650Rcr When boilers were able to raise steam at higher pressures engineers built engines in which the steam gets into the first, smallest cylinder and expands there, driving the piston down, but is then led into a bigger cylinder where it expands further on and even into a third or fourth cylinder. In short: The steam pressure goes down and the volume of the cylinders ( surface of the piston)goes up so that all of them work with equal torque.

  • @Jeansschwimmer That was done so that the engine could run fast. Engines with only one huge cylinder could of course work too with high pressures, but it takes the steam time to fully expand and that made these monsters slow. Single cylinder engines were typical of factory engines ( mill engines) or paddle steamers ( paddle wheels seldomly made more than 45 revs per minute.)

  • @Jeansschwimmer The difficulty is to construct those "double, triple or quadruple compound engines" as they are called, to give each cylinder equal strengh ( torque on the crankshaft). If you do not do that you would have the same effect as if two cyclists sat on a tandem bicycle and the one would pedal harder than the other, in which case he would do all of the work because the other one would feel no pressure against his feet and be idle therefore, just moving his knees up and down.

  • very nice Vid thanks -be awesome to vacation there

  • unknown location = meiningen for more than a year

  • Some of BR03's was streamliner locos. Few machines left in PKP (Poland) as class Pm3, one is preserved in railway museum (Warsaw).

  • looks very nice, sound is also good, nice vid

  • Locked away? Does anybody know where?

  • Not a bad sound for a 3 cylinder machine, but I've always preferred the bark of a loco with 2 cylinders...

  • Old trains rules !!!

    Nice train, I have this 2x in H0. :)

  • holly crap! I didn't know that there were any running Streamlined Class 01s left! This is a real treat, thank you for posting this!

  • also, I didn't notice that it still had the Adler on the front. What is that insignia on the tender that is where the Adler mit Hakenkreuz once was?

  • Actually, it is not an original streamline, this is a rebuilt 01.10 steam loco, just like the 01 1066 and 01.1100 which can be seen on german tracks. Meiningen designed a new streamlining for this loco, which is looking like the old one, but it is not the same as this loco is different from the original dimensions due to the new boiler...

The loco did not run for the last few years, as it has some mechanical problems which are yet to be solved, and there were issues with the owner.

  • Poor locomotive, locked away. T.T Where is the third cylinder? I only know the regular ones on each side.

  • that is an interior cylinder, you can´t see it because of the streamline body. It sits in the middle and drives the third axle.

  • Oh, cool.

  • I´m sorry, but non of these cars ever belong to the "henschel-wegmann-zug"! but i like your video. the 01.10 is one of my favourite engines...

  • the 01 1102 is a very elegant steam locomotive.

she is manufactured in 1940 in germany. has spended train duty until the 1970th.... then she was locked at bebra to be a monument.... in the 1990th has an "investor" the machine reactivatet, and in the "reichsbahnausbesserungswerk meiningen" becomes it the blue steel arodynamic design - like in original the 40th.

today, the "blue lady" stands in meiningen and its corrosive, because these "investor" have no more money, to set her under steam!!!

  • That's simply AWESOME!!!!!

  • Nothing beats a three-cylinder. Thank God we have some nice German locos in the Netherlands (amongst which the stunning 01 1075) because the silly Dutch scrapped almost every Dutch steam loco. Thanks for sharing this great vid!

  • Cool Video! Look it very exactly! That´s the last streamline steam engine of it´s type.

It was built by the "Deutsche Reichsbahn".

If you have look at the front you can see (hardly but you can)an eagle with a wreath in it´s claws. In this wreath is the original swastika. It is only sticked over that you can not see it any more.

  • Oh yes! i see- but presumably the Adler/hakenkreuz were removed after 1945 when it still operated?

  • No, it hadn`t been removed. In Germany there is a law which does not allow showing signs of nazicisom in public. But it does not tell you to leave signs, so it was left at place.

  • Thanks for your reply, feuerwehrmannEN. Have you seen the new british A1 Peppercorn number 60163 'Tornado', built with German help? I think it may tour Germany... will be funny to see going through the Channel Tunnel!

  • if the brits and the germans can build an a1 from the ground up then this can surely be fixed

  • What was the accident?

"Unfortunately, this streamline steam locomotive had an accident a couple of years ago and is now locked away in an unknown location."

Thank you for nice steady video.

  • Congratulations, excelent video. I like steam locomotives.Best wishes from Argentina

  • Nothing beats the sound of a steam engine.

  • my son & i loved this video.

  • Nice Work.

  • Yes, it is good. But it is a bit older because the car livery is several years ago. Unfortunately I don't see a blue 110 anymore and todays InterCity cars are in white livery with red line. Some calls them the "lazaret waggons". My favourite livery was the one of TEE (white-red) or at least the one shown in this video of the InterCity. I don't like the current one...

  • Very good filming, nice to see some old steam locomotives. Suprised that there are streamlined loco's in Germany. Well done and thanks a lot. Keep the good work up.

  • very nice

  • Nice

  • Way out keep up the good work.

  • Great video.

    Almost a documentary.

  • I found it ausgezeichnet.Bitte,mehr davon.

  • lol i think it's not a BR 01 but a BR 03

  • lol, I think, you are wrong. 01 1102 is the real number of this locomotive, it is the three-cylinder-version of the BR 01.

  • Excellent video but what happened to the locomotive to prevent it running again?

  • Don´t know exactly, but I thing the repair costs are too high and the owner (a foundation as far as I know) can´t afford that.

  • To bad! :( I think that the government (taxes) should pay for the repair then, it's an important piece of engineering with a huge legacy tied to it. Worst thing that can happen to a mechanical device/machine (and humans also for that matter) is that it's prevented to operate, decay comes quickly when forced to stay still.

But i understand that it's not as easy as that because then other foundations, organizations will demand special money also.

  • Was the blue Dampf Lok built in the 1940's? The Adler and Wreath on front looks familiar. Glad it was left on, but without the Hakenkreuz.

  • First time, that I saw a streamline Locomotive moving. Also the 110 in the old blue colour got a rarity on the rails nowadays.

  • Very good, congratulations.

  • Your videos are very cool.
