when we hear about millions of jews being killed ad treated badly we dont really care when we read it its the same thing but when you actually see it in a movie and get to know the characters you know how sad it actually was this movie is very special because not every movies ending strikes you like this one, not everything has a happy ending :'/
This movie was good, and so was the book, but I think it was too ambiguous. I mean, I shouldn't look it up, and be surprised when I read something. Also, I feel a little cold hearted for wanting to see the ending, instead of it's more direct but still ambiguous film ending.

i just watched this in school and this movie was great! the emotion and the sadness and sorrow makes you think that the jews and bruno werent bad at all because they werenT1 everyone i know cried at the end and the boys were a bout to overall it was a good movie good acting good emotion and over all great ending (sad) 9.5/10
You said "It gave me a different look on Nazi Germany, that I have not seen"
Don't talk as if the way Nazi Germany is portraied in the movie is 100% correct. You're really not giving the movie any critisism which is weird if this is supposed to be a REVIEW... Historical correctness is a huge part that must be examined and reviewed properly, especially in movies like this.
this movie was very emotional for me, it hit really close to home for me. my grandparents were in poland during the war and went through the same thing (but survived) one of the most powerful movies i have ever seen!
@MrHeadingley Nah I don't agree, this was a really touching film and a good one, the ending is just amazing and unpredictable. I recommend anyone to watch it.

The whole thing is so far-fetched we cried laughing. It just needed Arnie to come in at the end as Terminator to make it a little more realistic! They should have 'flamethrowered' them both!!! (along with the director - who lost the whole idea of the film about 10 minutes into it)
I think that if bruno saw what was REALLY happening to the people before he died. He wouldve been Begging his father to stop at all costs. But he was a baby still, When I was 8, I could care less about anything serious ( sad but true. xD)
He has asked many questions because of it and he now knows why both his great grandfathers died fighting the nazis, one in holland and the other in Africa.
I t is not a true story, it is complete fiction so do not make false claims about such a powerful film.
There would never have been an 8 year old working in a death camp, the selection process at the ramp would have immediately sent all children, the sick and old people straight to the gas chamber.
I also completely disagree that this should have a higher rating than 12a.
My 9 year old son has watched this film, and I believe it is an excellent introduction for young people to the holocaust.
There is a lot of corruption in the world and obviously the holocaust is at an extreme end of it. However, i think the life we get used to people just think 'i'm fine' but i'v just learnt about trade in geography and i'm not an activist or anything but i think there is seriously something seriously wrong with how we can just eat pineapples for £1 while the workers in LEDCs get next to nothing. To me we're treating them like the jews.
This film has realy made me think about how we can just get used to things over time and just shrug it off because everyone else is going along with it.
Does anyone think that is is at all similar to the whole un- fair trade thing?
I saw this film with my cousin, we both were crying. At the end the whole cinema was silent and in tears.
I think Bruno dying was a major importance to the film, as much as I didn't want him to. I felt that it really showed the Nazi's the pain they caused, they saw the Jews as rats and it took Bruno dying for them to realise the horror of their actions.
Bruno died for his father's sins. What made me sad, was that we still haven't' learned from our mistakes, we still discriminated.
HE WAS 8!!!!!!!! for gods sake show some compassion, maybe he should have known more about what the concentration camps were really like, but he deffinatley should not have been killed, why are there so many people who do not understand this, thank you to Getsirius91
When bruno dug the hole, mabey (the jewish kid) should of came out the hole instead of bruno going in there.Srry cant remember the jewish kids name, but just a thought.
The reason Shmuel (the jewish kid) didn't come out Bruno's side is because the reason Bruno dug the hole in the first place was so he could help Shmuel find his dad.
we watched this in class the other day and i knew what was going to happen at the end because i'd read the book n i was like ''no bruno dont go in, no'' n the teacher was like ''whats wrong? it cant end like that'' n BAM the ending hit us n by then the whole class was in tears even the teacher =[ this film is one of the saddest and moving films ive ever seen
I was crying like crazy when he crawled under the fence. My mom kept saying, "You don't know what's gonna happen honey, stop crying, they can't end it like that!" After the movie she was just shocked.
the movie was a master piece i would go see it again and again...it was dreadful what happened at the end...it made u think though that Bruno was innocent and didn't deserve to die..yet so were all the other jews... it is a timeless movie and i recommend anyone to see it
OMG YES! People need to watch things like this more. Twilight was OKAY ( my OPINION) But learning about this stuff puts life in a new perspective! :)!
