no. when i change the clip view to RENDERED, the Comp 1 screen goes black, and as i scrub thru the timeline, nothing happens. i followed your tut. to the letter and still after i switch to RENDERED, and try and scrub thru, i get nothing but a black screen.

can you help me with my explosion project ? im trying to use the shatter effect on an mov file, i follow your steps all the way to dragging the shatter effect onto the render, but the shatter effect doesnt show up ! it blacks out the mov file that the effect is on, and the black has the effect but my mov is gone. it explodes to the white background (i left the background white cuz i dont need stars.) please help. thanks.

yea, to RENDERED ?? check my latest video. It seems that the shatter effect does not work with footage, like the mov file that im importing. it does work tho on a JPEG, as you can see in my latest video that i did this morning. how can i get the effects to work on imported footage?

i dont know why it is not working but i just tried the shatter effect on a video and it worked for me. did you edit any other settings under the shatter effect?

try making a new project, importing the video, adding the shatter effect and changing the view to rendered. if that works then you changed some setting or layer in your other project.

you need to drag the effect, Shatter onto your planet, and then go to your effects tab to change it to the rendered view.

maybe the clip is not long enough. if this is not the case, then maybe it is not rendered (ram preview) for full playback speed.
