  • I don't mean to be a jerk - but 7/8 does *not* mean there are 7 quarter notes in each bar.

7/8 means that there 7 - Eighth notes in each bar.

The first number always tells you the number of beats in each measure - and the second number always tells you which kind of note gets the beat - hence, 7 - eighth notes per measure.

    Counting it out as 1 2, 1 2, 1 2 3 was correct :) - for this particular song anyhow :)

  • Yes you're right, my main language is french so the names aren't the same; I mean eights instead of quarter notes. Thanks for pointing it out though ;D

  • Yup, second part is in 4/4 for a bit then back to 7/8, easier way to count it just count in in 3/4 with an extra eighth note at the end, 1,2,3,and 1. :)

  • The first part is in 7/8, meaning there are 7 quarter notes in each bar. If you look at his movement, he does 3 beats; the first two are 2 quarter notes, the third one is 3 quarter notes. You can say it outloud like this 1-2 1-2 1-2-3 (2+2+3)

Depending on which kind of music you play, you may never see this. Hope it clears up the confusion ;D
