  • If you move companies every few years, your pay will increase significantly more than if you stay at one job for 10 years. Companies usually don't give significant raises but end up paying new comers more than the workers that have been there the longest.

  • nursing is oversaturated with UNEMPLOYED new grads. after a year of nemployment you are a "stale grad" and will never be hired. Do not waste your time on this career...you will end up screwed like 80% of my BSN class and the class before me.

  • I have my AAS and my BA in Liberal Arts.. BUT I'm unemployed and can't get ANY job... I'm thinking of going back to get a basic CNA certification and then working in a Hospital... Hopefully when I am there a year then the Hospital would pay for my continued education to become a RN, Lab Tech or Surgical Tech..

Could you share any advice for me on this plan? Is it a good idea or not?

    Thanks for your time. :)

  • Nursing is a crazy field....so many opportunities and so many doors open. I wish the best for all my collegues and hope that those of you who are RN's and are interested in making more money for whatever reason, voice yourself to your facility or agency, if money is an issue. there is no reason why you should conform when you've given all you got. MD's spend 5 mins with a pt at times and make $140/visit thru medicare. why shouldnt we have more offered when we are the advocates! good luck buddies

  • i'm an LVN in RN school. Home Health pays me $85/ per visit with car provided. They also pay for hotels and food when i travel, of course this is through an agency. RN's at my agency made $135/per visit. I usually pulled 3 clients everyday, for 25 mins each. Most hospitals will pay the minimum, some will pay more than the common average. It all depends on location and your specialty. You need to voice your interest and not be scared. I want to be a RN to have a stronger position in peoples care.

  • @latinjguzman Hi im interested in Your Field OOf Working Can You give me more tips and edvice && help Please Thnxs

  • please let me in on the big $. I havent seen a nurse make it yet

  • bullshit,,

  • I want to be a Registered Nurse, I am a medical assistant now, about to become Certified. I'm 18, can someone please tell me what to expect in college or in the nursing field :)

    thanks.

  • PLEASE. i dont know what hospital she works at. but the RN in florida start out at 23.50 an hour as of 2009. i have been a nurse for 14 years and i work full time with benefits and only make 31 an hour.

$50 or $100 an hour????? get real

  • you should look into , "home health" companys there nurses make way more than 30 a hour.you will have to drive to peoples homes but they make double the money

  • My sister is making $60 an hour in Indianapolis.

  • $50 dollars an hour at half moon bay Ca. $50 an hour Barnes Jewish in St.louis

  • I agree, these numbers are inflated. I am a recent RN graduate who just took his first job at $21.50/hr. My other friend works in ICU and has been an RN for 8 yrs and he gets $36/hr FLEX or POOL. I think between the hourly rate, the shift diff. the overtime, and the bonus pay for picking up shifts, you can make consistently good money in nursing, but everyone talks these ridiculous numbers for hourly rates, and it misleads and discourages new graduates when they finally get their first job.

  • Are these pay rates exclusive to the USA? I live in canada and I am starting a nursing degree program in september here in Toronto. Would I be able to make 50 dollars an hour here?

  • In Saskatchewan you start at about $30/hr. I have been working for 5 years and make about $36/hr.
