i've been in both a scenic and an a class and i can tell you the scenic is 150times bigger inside and much much more comfortable so that's the car for the family
a lot of cars of this height would lose control if you did that maneuver top gear performed it just means the driver has to be smart and take it easy on turns which you should be doing anyway according to the highway code
I have an A140 from '99 (so it came out way after the correction!), and I have to say: at first I wasn't too in for it, but after a few wheel alignments and a suspension revision (Bilsteins in...), it's sweet to drive! Honeslty, it's almost addicting to drive! And chicks like it...
But I agree with Jeremy, the comfort is somewhat gone on the harder settings Mercedes had to put...

Why shouldnt mercedes have made this car? You need to expend your markets if you have only luxurycars you will only know that territory. People like mercedes because its choice is so big. You can have a little car a midsize a bigsize or suv you can have a small/midsize/bigsize van. Hell they even sell trucks! Why wouldn,t it be good. I get your point tough mercedes used to make luxury cars only but that time has longly been past. Its all about reiable and fuellmilage now.
its not a patch on the aluminium audi a2...not that im against mercedes as a company, I'd always buy a benz over an audi...its just the a class was utter shite!!

I had a head accident with my grandpa 2 years ago while sitting on the nearside / passenger side. Our speed was about 70km/h-80km/h (45mph) cause I remember my grandpa was able to use the break at least a bit. The front was completely destroyed, but the room where your feet are was totally fine, the accident power was transmitted from the front to the BACK, the rear lights were destroyed as well as parts of the tailgate, the side of the doors was fine, too. A VERY SAFE VEHICLE when in accident!

I rented one of these in Italy last summer. LOVED IT! Great acceleration and handling. Drove around Tuscany with four adults with no problem on hills and corners. And plenty of rear leg room, even for the tall person sitting behind me, and I'm 6'2". Unfortunately, Mercedes doesn't sell these in the U.S., so I can't get one, but I keep checking...
This was one of the best cars i ever had. It may not be the prettiest one but it was and still is a really good car. I had the 160 Elegance-Luxury version, leather seats, semi automatic/semi manual version, which means it had a manual gearbox without a clutch, it had a Bose 8 speaker sound system, 6 CD changer, and it was a year 2000 model. I even had an accident on it where someone crashed into the rear right door of the car and i could hardly feel it while I was on the rear left seat.
