@Jah2070 I had my engine replaced, but did so because I engine braked frequently and kept the revs over 4k, but had no problems with the engine. I think MOST engines will consume oil when you do this. Once I got the new engine, I pulled it out immediately (I can use as a spare), bought a rev-up block from SpeedForce Racing, and rebuilt it.
The rev-ups feature intake AND exhaust cam phasing. The DE motor has a HUGE aftermarket compared to HR. It's superior in many ways.
@Jah2070 If you have plans to build it, it's a better blueprint. With new pistons, rings, springs, cams, and a tiune, the car will easily make the same power mine did. I'm prepped for a supercharger, but have been enjoying the power, as is. I still haven't tuned the nitrous yet either, but have already pulled on E60 M5s, E92 M3s, and other high HP cars.
@kacz07 Nice, I want to get a 350Z next summer, I plan on doing some mods to possibly hit 450 horsepower. I don't wanna go the twin turbo route so i'll be going with a vortech supercharger with upgraded pulleys and some new pistons to get around 10psi or higher boost. I'll of course do the necssary things such as the plenium spacer upgrade and exhaust etc. I've been looking at Z's between 2003-2005 (These are the only ones I can find in my price range). How much did it cost for your new engine?
@kacz07 but the HR makes more power cheaper im at 300whp and only spent less then 2g you have like 6 or 7g in parts and labor there and made 293 ? sae ?
Thanks for the info i hope nissan covers my problem as well. And i might be going down the same road as you in building my motor, are you happy with your build and was it worth the the money? I found some engine packages online that come built and i am considering it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks man
hi, I have an 06 350z revup as well and recently I damaged my motor due to oil consumpution and im looking to rebuild did you ever have those issues and if so did you have them after the rebuild?
@s2kman89 My first motor consumed oil and was replaced by Nissan. I pulled that motor out for future builds. The motor in this video was an oil consumer. I bored out the pistons by .5mm and put in some Wiseco pistons to prevent consumption. From all the info I gathered, the problem was in the rings not sealing properly. With this motor, I have found that I have had a little blow by, likely due to the rings "breaking in." The key is the piston-to-wall clearances need to be tighter than OEM.
@MangoSmoothie16 Haha. Fair enough. I thought you were calling the modifications messing it up. I didnt understand how you could hate on an idle video. Nissan is a great company and, actually, they replaced my motor for free. There is always some compromise between function and form, in most cases, but they've been decent at rectifying the issues. I think their new projects with Renault and Benz will prove to make some awesome Z and other cars in the future. I guess we'll see...
@MangoSmoothie16 Unless you think the other person who posted about his revup motor, which had oil consumption issues due to ring seals, is to blame for messing up the motor. Either way, your ignorance is staggering.
@kacz07 What? I'm saying Nissan has cool stuff. Like the GTR, 350Z, 370Z, Titan and Pathfinder. But they always find a way to fuck them up. GTR trannies were having issues and you have to void warranty, 350Z consumes oil, Pathfinder was good until 2nd gen when they went unibody and now the steering boxes are failing, Titan has the worst ever A pillar blind spot and 370Z has that revmatch shit. They are cool. But have to have a dealbreaker downfall.
@ferbsnissan A Yugo XD. I'd be the biggest fan in the world of the gtr if nissan could come up with a 6spd manual. I was a big fan of Porsches but when I learned they had a 7spd manual I died a little. 5 gears are plenty. The Corvette and Camaro are great examples. 1-5 are performance. 6 is for cruising. maybe some day.
Unibody is better for what 99% of people use pathfinders for. If you want to do serious off-roading, go get a toyota or jeep with the inline 6.
All VQ35DE motors have oil issues, but the rev-up is the worst. A lot of newer engines consume a lot of oil because of the lighter lower-tensile rings. This improves power and reduces friction, but consumes more oil.
On the other hand, I have an F150 with the venerable Essex V6 that I do 10k oil changes on that consumes no oil.
I bored out 0.5mm and put in HR pistons and a thicker head gasket which also gave me an 11.5:1 compression ratio. I have no issues with oil consumption now. The OEM HR pistons and rings are fairly cheap too.
how much nitrous are you spraying

@Jah2070 I bought the spare for like 750 shipped. The new engine, that I pulled and stored right after, was replaced under warranty

Everyone keeps telling me the rev up motor is the worst one to have. Is this true? They say it has the least torque and consumes oil like crazy

@kacz07 typical Nissan. Having a great car but always finding a way to fuck it up.

@MangoSmoothie16 Hey dude, why don't you share your brilliant opinion and elaborate on how messed up you think it is.

@kacz07 I'd still like a 280/350Z. Or an Altima/Sentra SE-R Spec V. I think the 350 will always be my fav though.
