@elverte9 the amp is not for playing headphones from an mp3 player, it is for a guitar, the player was just to test that it works. Though plugging a guitar in would have been a little better proof of concept...
OK this is mint for head phones sorry bad pun anyways u can make your car stereo system loud because aux wires 2 of them will work try this with a subwoofer i have 4 altoid amps try it 50% volume sonds like 90 % yes it will work in 5 years 4 12 inch subs in my car and me being 16 here i come and in the mean time keep it real word @ronbrowzfan1234 out
Thinking about making this project. My Asus N53SV notebook can't put out enough to really drive my Sennheiser HD 428 headphones like my old Toshiba notebook could.
I hate when people try to act surprised at the beginning of their videos. "oh hey" gimme a fucking break, we're here to watch your video, and expect you to know you're on fucking camera. Oh and don't suck on mints with the mic next to your mouth you rude, slobbish motherfucker.
be more interesting is he made it as a small guitar amp you could use to practice with so you don't wake up neighbors. Most likely all you would have to do is change the in, connector.
Seems kinda pointless when you can just plug your headphones straight into the mp3 player (unless you're trying to boost the signal beyond the mp3 player's capacity).
Doesn't change the fact that I'm totally gonna make one.
@Calebm90 It isn't pointless if you are dealing with hi end headphones that require more power than the mp3 player can output.. This gives it the extra power therefor making the sound louder and more clear.
@Calebm90 Many laptop and mp3 player's built-in amps aren't gutsy enough to drive fancy headphones very well. If you have a crummy $20 set or plain iPod ear buds, you probably won't notice any difference. If you have entry-level "audiophile" headphones, this is a fun way to get more of a return on your existing investment, especially if you use decent quality parts.
One of the worst DIY projects I've ever seen. Perfect example How NOT to do it. No part list or circuit diagramm. Did he thought no one wants to make one?
My suggestion. Search for "Little Gem" on Google. These amps are the real deal (that means you can control a speaker with them), and also made from very little parts.
nigga dats gay as fuc how i suposted to play my guitar tru dat pice of shit crazy ass white boys and thear lame ass shit comon nigga i want a guitar amp bitch cracker ass wite boy dammmmmmm duces nigga
Can someone please explain what these small altoid amps do. I saw someone suggest them for a good pair of headphones to make the sound better.. But I don't get it.
@jdubin94 they make your headphones louder. say you get some good headphones and they dont sound that loud at all. because thats what good headphones do. they eat power. you get the amp and plug it up and boom! awesome sound because the headphones are now getting enough power to sound as good as they can.
I just plug my headphones directly in to my mp3 player...other than looking really cool why would this be practical? even more volume I assume, but the levels I get now are more than enough
Does anyone know if this will work with a FM transmitter. I have one for my ipod to listen to my music in the car and it gives a really weak signal which is easily interfered by other radio signals.
@Supadupa60 because a lot of headphone outputs are too quiet. my computer assumes you are using speakers with a built in amp, so the output not very loud, this is perfect for that situation.
@Supadupa60 he was only using the headphones as a demonstrator im 1000% sure there are many more interesting ways to use this little gadget, just consider what your home theatre 5.1 amplifier does this is just a really small version
@chrisgreece52 WHOA!!! I live in Albania and we have them here...do you have Rossman & Lala stores there ?? They have Altoids..not so special about the taste..but leaves a strong mint taste for more than half an hour after you've finished the mint :D
Would it be possible to use this for a guitar? If you change the input connector? So you could play on the go with some headphones or computer speakers?
@sixstringfretter up to 30 mins full volume and then turn it down. I have a 320W stereo that I crank on a daily basis and I still have perfect hearing. There are so many variables that affect hearing loss, bet you didnt know that, did ya?
@AJ8494030615 a 8 pin socket for the 8 pin IC of course! What I think you mean is what kind of IC. I would like to know that too. It is probably just a simple dual op-amp circuit. One for each channel.
