  • This is how Genesis would have sounded on The trick of the tail if they never broke up.

  • @SuSiMa1lu you are so very right...reminds me of "the lamb lies down on broadway"... it's very similar...best moments of my life 5 years ago when listening to this and the first genesis albums

  • AWESOME Song. thank you for posting.

  • I love the lyric "out of woman come the man, spend the rest of his life getting back when he can"

  • Peter Gabriel has written some absolutely perfect songs.

If his music doesn't give you goose bumps you should insult a physician....

    ....or consult one..

    ...or both.

  • Out of woman, comes a man, spend rest of his life getting back if he can

As the bull, so the dove, as below so above....

  • Incantevole..

  • Amazing song and album!

  • Saw him sing this live at the Roxy in Hollywood around 1979.....so good.

  • @spookyben 77

  • @spookyben the year was 1977

  • @the300club - Did you wait in line all night like I did to snag ducets?

  • Yes, this has always been one of my favorites.

  • @wajobu In addition to the Mellotron in the closing section, there's a harmonium in there too--it just adds to the fabric of sound.

  • No one writes music like this anymore Pete has a great formula

  • No-one like him - then, or now.

  • ..sublime....

    Thanks for posting!

  • Que chimba ... insuperable inspiracion.

  • I always enjoyed b-sides. Thought musicians expressed freely and less

    record company oriented

  • oh.THANK YOU FOR POSTING.

    AWESOME Song .!!

  • I got this album when it was released. This and Modern Love are my two faves on the album.

  • One of the most beautiful songs in the world...I remember musing over this with the version from his live album..1983...

  • It is beautiful, isn't it? And yet my ignorant generation have never even heard of Peter Gabriel, with the possible exception of that weird video Sledgehammer.

His fist four albums contain some mesmerising songs; some of which have never been played on the radio. It's baffling that people like the Jonas Brothers rule the airwaves when THIS could be played instead. Real music.

  • there!well said.

  • @SparrowisSexy absolutely! except for the fact that today, if its not bright and flashy, it doesn't hold out. even quirky holds out better than timeless, quality-written music. it's a shame, really.

  • @SparrowisSexy ain t that the truth?spread the true words.

  • @cosmicrider287 wow i foud myself fioating on the music nice very nice.puts us in the right mood

  • @cosmicrider287 i forgot to say thanks lol

  • @SparrowisSexy Dont worry about my friend, we know that we are a minority and we like it, why not??

  • @SparrowisSexy it boggles the mind how the human race becomes more stupid , and not just music

  • @SparrowisSexy think why the jonas bros are being mostly played, corporate wise and people wise. Musics a buisness and alot of people just want to be told what to do. it's an easy answer that I think has more to it but, it's my opinion. Anywho, SLEDGE.

  • How unfortunate we are to live in a generation who only give a care for Arctic Monkeys, Take That or Kings Of Leon - and generally are one-minded to the enemy of music - indie music

  • @Toon4Jonny

"enemy of music - indie music"

    That's an interesting statement.

  • Pete's always been the man>what an amazing track this is! Take me home Gabriel!!

  • 2:18

  • @permian26 I'll do ya one better. :)

    1:51

  • This lovely song ends side one~~ it's like watching the sun set. And now, on to side two....

  • Whoa!

Someone who remembers and understands the concept of "sides" on an album ... and here I thought I was the only one left.

"Shuffles," mp3s and etc have their uses and advantages, too, but there's something to be said for listening to songs in an order that was carefully thought-out, and having an intermission between, to enjoy the silence.

Only thing I miss more than that are the 12 x 12 cover graphics that pulled you into the band's world so effectively.

    Cheers.

  • precioso bellisimo
