  • the fact that this video was added on june 25th 2009, makes me doubt this is an s1000rr because though the bike was made in 2009, it was only released in 2010

  • @lnromandude it was a pre-prodcuction RR.

  • @sierrabmw

that makes sense. i was wondering about that. i definitely need to test-ride one of these to make up my mind about which bike to get

  • @lnromandude

no doubt , i was behind him - check tags tamburini nordschleife

  • That's a S1000RR going hard at Nurburgring, fucking awesome.

On the BMW you can tap the gear lever on upshifts and it'll cut the ignition for a flat shift, keep the the throttle open and the air moving. There's a sensor on the gear lever linkage used to figure it out.

  • exellent riding......

  • great stuff. awesome driving, great bike! thanks for sharing :)

  • the bike doesn't even sound like it's working that hard! WOW what a rush!

  • is he using a quick shift?

  • The 'shift-assist' is a factory option.

  • what is a shift assist?

  • It allows full throttle clutchless upshifts.

  • and its not bad for the clutch?

  • No. Because the clutch remains engadged the whole time. BMW has labeled this option Shift Assist. Genericlly called a quick shifter. There's a sensor on the shift lever to detect when you are shifting. Normally applying pressure alone while the engine is under load won't change gears. The computer senses the gear change request and quickly cuts fuel and/or spark (depending on programming) to reduce the engine load. The trasmission will now easily move to the next higher gear. It's all seamless.
