  • your beautiful :)

  • (cont'd)

Yes some are flat out gorgeous but right now, I dont crowd my subscription box just to see how someone looks. I constantly unsubscribe and resubscribe over the years to adjust what I watch, based on what I am interested in.

Evaluation your channel, and being honest, I would say one stand out point is your insiders view of mua events/world etc.

  • @DaniaOMGWania Thanks I appreciate that very much! I'm working hard to bring more to this channel and I will continue to evolve. My blog also has LOADS of information and is updated frequently be sure to find out more there!

  • Speaking as a youtube beauty viewer since 2006-7insh I watch anyone regardless of they look and I have seen people with high following who arent your stereotypical black barbie with straight relaxed hair.

Its all about style, personality and information. Some people teach me a lot so I keep up to date to learn, some are my skin complexion so I keep up to find options for me, some are just awesome personally and I enjoy their rambling/rants/jokes etc, Some do product reviews like every month!..

  • @DaniaOMGWania Yes I understand and I appreciate the viewer who does that!

  • i dont really agree 100..

i'd think an average high view count and low subscription would be an indication of some bias.

youtube may be suppressing your views based on ur tags and title relevance. could it be that you dont answers pressing/common questions asked? when a person hits up the youtube search box, will they find your videos? how many videos do you put out that the average AA makeup lover loves watching?

  • @DaniaOMGWania Thanks for commenting. This video was based on what I CLEARLY witnessed while on YT from being a non natural until now and the types of comments I've gotten when I've ad different looks and hair styles. IT's in no way to say this is how it always is. I just felt I related to this subject well. Thanks for your opinion.

  • Great points. Some people don't realize/ or even appreciate the effort that others put into their channels, especially videos. Stay beautiful and kind.

  • @OneLadyTee Thanks! Yes it takes a lot of time and effort. That's why I STILL continue to support my fellow vloggers...effort should be congratulated and hard work celebrated!

  • I thought natural hair video received a lot of light :D.. love the video

  • @Skyy2121 Thanks!

  • stay strong

  • @die4ethio Thanks!

  • This is why I LOVE You, you are so genuine and real and down to earth, not to mention Gorgeous!!! I don't care how many subbies you have or how many products you review from companies sending you stuff, or how many views your videos get (which I believe is rigged anyways...) You are REAL!!! That is the very reason you have became My Favorite "Guru" , Blogger, MUA, ETC. Thanks for being You!!

  • @MissMakeupTherapy WOW!!! Thank you soooo much!!!! This was beyond sweet and I appreciate this comment so much!

  • Omg why haven't I found your channel sooner? Great video! I always thought the natural videos got alot of play! Lol (teasing)

But yes, people are very quick to judge you off appearance, & what they see as "beauty"

  • @lover4FASHION Thanks! I've followed your channel for almost 2 years! LOL before i went natural I looked to your videos for what style to do with Remy hair...lol...goodness the money I spent! Also your personality is so awesome! Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!

  • Sherry you sound so genuine. I've been following your blog for a while & we follow each other on twitter. You have been so open and helpful with sharing your knowledge and resources. I actually benefited from your post about how to make money as a freelance MUA & was able to get a position as a MUA for a film project. Thank you for all that you do and don't give up. You have a loyal follower/subbie in me! Keep your head up mama and know that you are making a difference.

  • @royalmommy2 WOW! That is so awesome I am so happy for you! Thank you for your kind words it means so much to me. Thank you for your support I truly truly appreciate it!

  • I know i was right when i subbed you...You are very honest and your videos are so well thought out and informative....just continue to be you and eventually , i believe, everything will work out ..it is very unfortunate the world we live in now where people are so quick to judge....you have some amazing earrings and accesories..where you buy them ..i am also in NYC...Bronx...many thanks

  • @abbee72 Thank you so much! I buy my accessories from all over: thrift shops, street vendors, boutiques, online...everywhere lol! Thanks for your well wishes!

  • I am so happy u responded to AE's vid. I would have never found you otherwise. I feel what your saying on all points.

  • @LolaKinkz Wow I just saw yours and I was thinking the EXACT SAME THING!! I'm loving this debate & discussion. Im looking forward to AE's videomaker to videomaker series too!

  • Many YT viewers are younger, i'd say ages 15 to 40 and this is the generation that's Media driven. They live and die for beauty and fashion based on their view of Models and Actresses that are portrayed in the Media. They don't care nothing about natural beauty because they've never seen it in the Media. Appeal to this crowd and you'll have thousands of viewers. I'm older (early 50's) so my interrest is different, I subscribe to those that are intelligent and knowledgable.

  • @lilyseymour I CONCUR!!! You are right ON! If there is a demand then there will be a supply...so if we demand to see a certain type of beauty thats what someone somewhere will supply and if what your supplying doesnt meet the mold then youll have a slow climb (if any at all) to the top!

  • I loved your response, and I would hang on your words, and I can hear your humbleness. The ugly truth but you said it right. I hope to enjoy more videos from you, because I really couldn't NOT subscribe. Your articulated everything so well. Many times people are so stuck on the visual they don't listen. Thanks for the response, I enjoyed it and those pictures. WUUURRRKK I loved those bold lips.

    ~keep it real

  • @AFRICANEXPORT WOW! Thank you so much! I saw your video at 7am this morning and I felt compelled to respond. This was something I had experienced and I honestly thought I was alone in my thoughts. I thought perhaps I was reading too much into it but sadly as I watched others grow and grow as I remained at a plateau or even moved at a snails pace I knew something was up. I am grateful for every subscriber and I feel my subscribers and I have great relationships. Some I even chat with outside YT!

  • Hi Ladies, I agree with you all. I'm pleased to say *insert smile* When it comes to subscribing. I'm NOT stuck in a box. I subscribe to those who I feel I learned something from, identified with and just simply liked; which would make me want to come back to their channel, the color of their skin, their weight has nothing to do with it. What I consider when I'm subbing is personality. I need someone to hold my interest, if they don't; chances are I wont sub.

  • @nyflavr Yes personality will always grab and hold me too!

  • I subscribe to a youtuber who peak my interest, not so much on how they look. If they can BEAT a face and give great information, then im clicking that subscribe button. I also watch a couple of videos by a youtube before I subscribe. I remember the first time I watched your videos, i said to myself why doesnt this girl have more views. I like the fact that i got to see you blossom (LOL) most of the ppl i watch already had tons of subscribers so it was nice to be a newbie to ur channel.

  • @nolove24 Thank you so much! And yes I remember seeing your screen name from the very beginning! I sincerely appreciate it and I love the building and growth that comes along with newbies to Youtube too. Trust me I have my old faithfuls but I smile when I watch the videos now of those I remember when they first began. I hope to continue to evolve and thank you for joining me on this journey.

  • The law of attractive is not only in youtube but in the world in general. I have noticed that people click that the subscribe button if they are more attractive than not. It's a sad world but its so true:) Especially in the natural hair community like if you have alot of what is deemed as "good" hair hair, and are" beautiful" they have a head start on subscribers. I just subbed for support:) Very refreshing commentary

  • @KylesNaturalHair Thank you! Yes the commentary is great! I understand that it does happen but I feel on Youtube your able to dispel that tired way of thinking because your able to view all the material a person has to offer to make a proper judgement unlike in everyday life you may not be given the chance to really get to know the individual...but it doesnt happen that way sometimes. Im encourage individuality on my page

  • very good vid. I will admit I tend to lean/ subscribe to darker tone & plus size women ONLY because I can get an 'idea' how certain colors and styles look for me. But I also subscribe to other ladies that is very informative & 'real' as well.

  • @V0nDiva Yes there is a difference between feeling as if you relate to someone and feeling as if someone is "better" because of how they look. We all lean towards those we have more in common with but there are others who lean more towards those they feel are "better" based on judgements and some views of society as to what is socially attractive :(
