  • This film gives a whole new meaning to sexual tension.

  • Tudo nesse filme é perfeito! Um dos melhores que já vi!

A melhor cena é a mais sexy! Firh e Johansson incrivelmente maravilhosos!

    E viva a Arte!

  • she loses her virginity symbolicaly .... love this scene;..very intense

  • Love........beauty......life.....

  • this is the best scene ever!

  • the way he touches her lips after putting in the earring, must soften the pain

  • Love this movie. :D

  • ohh...i love this history!!!!

  • as lovely as this scene is... IT IS A LIE in the book he makes her do herself when hes not there and it gets all infected and its all horrible and stuff, and all a lot less romantic...

  • did he not get her to do it her self but he placed the earring in for her?

  • this is the sexiest scene ever!!!!!!

  • The character of Vermeer heats up the needle before piercing the girls earlobe......but how much would a Dutch painter in the early 17th century have known about microbiology and sterilization techniques?

  • she has lips like angelina jolie

  • freaky how scarlet looks exactley like the painting

  • I would like point out that this film's art director and set designer, light crew had done their homework.

The light and shadow are unmistakably influenced by Vermeer's paintings.

It's as though, Vermeer had painted this movie.

I was stunned by it's attention to detail.

  • Wow, this really is one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever seen.

  • I'm straight and all but honestly, I would permanently switch teams for Scarlett. *drool*

  • This movie is totally amazing. I have watched it a couple of times and I love it. I never thought a painting could tell a story like that. I hope to reproduce it soon.

  • Me pregunto qué pensaría Veermer al ver esta escena, toda la película. No dudo que le hubiera gustado tener un tipo de encuentro como éste, encontrarse a Griet en su tiempo y a su lado como una fuente de inspiración perfecta. 5/5.

  • fantástico filme, fantástica cena, fantástica atuação.

  • at 2:10, you could power an olympic opening ceremony with the Unresolved Sexual Tension

  • I love her skin, she is really beautiful

  • the moment of piercing the ear is so equally emotional and painful...then,the pearl makes her look so divine!Scarlett, you are a godess!!

  • Its in Delft, Meisje van Vermeer, he was painting this beautiful girl! Vermeer was one famous painter. He was pianting a lot from his Delft.

The story form the girl is sad, lovely..*****!

  • great book! I need to see the movie

  • Man, when he pierced her like that.....is that symbolic or what? And I'm not saying this to be perverted, this is really what this scene is saying to me.

  • it's the closest they will ever come physically, so in a way it's the love scene of the movie. (not the screwing-in-a-dark-alley scene :))It's very symbolic, but thankfully they never actually get on each other. To their own interest (and to the interest of the story)

  • i totally agree.

    i love this movie~~~

btw the love scene of the movie also includes the scene where he asked her to lick her lips i think..

  • What is this movie about? I never got to see the whole thing...was he painting a picture of her so that some perverted old man could stare at it or something like that? lol

  • i love her

  • In the film Vermeer loved her, he wanted to kiss her, but if he did he could not paint this portrait.

    Great film!

  • does anyone have the whole movie?

  • colin firth is very hot.

  • OMG... COLIN FIRTH IS SO SEXY.

  • I love this movie. Visually stunning, acting is great, and the music is beautiful.

  • did she love him too??? I really wanna know...

  • Griet loved Vermeer but as Vermeer is an artist he didnt really love her, just the idea or image of her on canvas. She was his muse, not object of desire.

  • Thanks!!

  • I see it as a great explanation... but the author on the book never really tells that he doesn't love her... he was terrible jealous when other man came near her.

  • good point! Vermeer probably had feelings for Griet. Also, *spoiler alert* he did give her the pearls. However, i do not believe he truly loved her because he seemed to not care about what the painting could have done to her. and he seemed to have totally forgotten her after the painting was finished.

  • But at the end of the book it's obvious that the last person he was thinking of before dying was griet... he kept staring at the painting.

  • They do love each other. Just on another level, one that the other characters do not understand.

  • Yes, I think this is a kind of love with respect, what nowadays are very rare... It shows that he doesn't fall in love by her clothes, hair, or the style. It think because of her heart, especially because of the eyes... soooo sad

  • intresting video

  • I readed the book, and i want wach the film.

  • I saw this movie it was kool. My aunt looks a lot like her in the actual painting! When I saw the painting I freaked out on how much she looked like my aunt!

  • BTW, isn't this scene pure sex? With the piercing of the ear, the blood and her breathing? :)

  • I'm so glad you made a video out of this scene- absolutely my favorite. I just finished the book, and had to watch the movie, and this scene--was to die for. Thank you so much!

  • I love the constant tension in this film. The tension makes it so incredibly sexy.

  • its odd how much she actually looks like her!

  • looks like who? i don't get this movie.

  • Like the girl in Vermeer's actual painting.

This scene is brilliant. The only thing that's always bugged me is that as good as Scarlet is, she doesn't have the same tender, longing look in her eyes that the girl in the painting has. Instead she looks a little unsure. I guess only Vermeer's hand could bring that out in the image. Still I wish the eyes were more closer to the actual painting. Its what makes it such a beautiful image.

  • Incredible visuals throughout. Every scene is a masterpiece. Seen it five times and it only gets better

  • can someone upload the movie!!!! plzzzz

  • In the painting, the girl with a pearl earring has a bit of a smirk on her face... scarlett johannson does not.

  • im surprised by how close to the book this movie was

  • GRIET ES HERMOSISIMA

  • Great film...One of my favorites.

  • I love it too

  • Colin Firth looks so lovely and charming!

  • an adorable scene..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I LOVE this scene!!!

  • it is also my favourite scene...the way he look to her and touch her lips...it's so deep!

Colin Firth is so damn charming*

  • gREAT!

  • this was a great movie, but it is pretty sad

  • why can i sent a comment

  • i watched the movie about half of it, this is seem to be the climactic part how Vermeer produced the painting of the girl with a pearl earring but i felt sorry for Vermeer's wife Catharina who was portrayed as selfish vengeful and jealous. Tracy Chevalier created a lovely story on this master painting by Johannas Vermeer.

  • i love that movie...

its pretty deep and i could never figure out why he never kissed her or anything.

for the tragic part i guess.

  • Even if he wanted, he would never be able to kiss her. I mean, just look at where they are. In 1600 (i think) a rich man with a whole important family betraying his beloved wife with a maid? That would've been crazy and his wife would have gone mad. I can totally picture her killing the poor girl. It's an old fashioned age. =)

  • woah...

    calm down

  • Relax dude, I'm not bashing, just explaining! XD~ I'm sorry if I sounded a bit harsh, totally wasn't my intention, I swear. ^^~

  • no it didnt sound harsh

    i'm just sayin calm down

  • I too get so into history. Especially when related to Art. In Art History you have to examine the time, artist, genre and the dynamics that went on in relationships. Whether personal, religious etc. Astute analysis of the situation. Thanks. I loved Vermeer and this painting.

  • oh yeah, by the way. men bonked their maids all the time. most of the time, the wives kept it to themselves, even when they knew. divorce was nearly non-existant.

  • Thank you for your cultural contribution Beachmaiden. Where would we be without your elegant sensibilities?

  • Hi uweetwel.."Elegant sensibilities' What a wonderful expression. Great response to the rather mundane yet Honest history lesson from Beachmaiden. Makes me feel better about all the snarky quips I leave behind. Too-shay! ;) OR is that spelled 2-che!

  • You do have a point there, men probablly "boinked" there maids but maybe its different when they start to show respect and fall in love? Like in this case,

I think Vermeers wife can sense that he likes Griet not just because of her beauty but, you know, cause she too sees colors in the clouds?

  • That's the point. He could have "bonked"(i like that word) her as much as he pleased, without having to fear any consequences. She however would have been disgraced completely and never been able to rehabilitate her good reputation. That's why he does not touch her, because he loves and more importantly, respects her. I adore that man! (more precisely: the character chevalier invented, Vermeer as an artist AND *hehe* Colin Firth)

  • it's very nice and the book most wonderful...but i taught that at least after all those pieces with him..i taught she was going to end up with him buq

  • This film is wonderful, with a special atmosphere. I like it a lot. And the book is very good too.

  • Ke romantico..

  • he look sexy on this flim. i ddnt understand the ending of this movie thu..

  • i guess when he send her those stuff it shows that he still thinks about her and that she had an impact on her. although maybe the wife dint want to wear them earings no more!

  • In the book, do they have an intimate relationship?

  • the movie is something to be seen, the struggle ect...

    Its fascinating

  • The book is really great and the film is good too. I liked so much this fiction novel that it was my inspiration for my nickname :)

  • Love this bit, he's so hot, and the colours! Ah, perfection!

  • I dont get it, why does he love her?

  • because she understands his world

  • Beacuse Griet is special, among other things she is good a painting, she knows about colours, she understands her master works, ... she is the only one in the house who can understand him.

  • Because she can pout like there's no tomorrow.

  • The painting-girl is younger and prettier.

  • i agree, i believe the original is always the best peoples eyes had been set on that beauty for more than 300 years

  • With love also comes pain...

  • yeah alot of pain

  • Was this movie in the theatres? I didn't see it. Can't remember the name of the actor, but know that the woman is Scarlett Johansen. Would like to see the movie. Perhaps it is just going to come out in video?

  • dude, u r so narrow-minded..It is a movie named "Girl with a Pearl Earring" exact the same name as the painting.....

  • thats not what he was asking...if anyone is narrow-minded, its you.

  • is it really good? Where could I download the film for free - thanks a lot, guys!

  • Ellos no la hicieron fea en esta película, se ve mucho mejor sin maquillaje, es una belleza natural.

Yo si la hubiera besado, que digo besado.

  • si verdad

  • great

  • LOL i just finished reading the book and i tried so hard to imagine her blue and yellow head thingy...now i know lol

  • But.. but.. the world famous picture? :(

  • LOL i never knew about it, like i'd never seen it before until after i read the book.

  • i have read the book before i saw the movie , must i say that the book was way better because of more description and shows the aftermath of the story itself ....some things in the movie arent exactly the way things took place in the book...i suggest that one should read the book first and then watch the mvie to really understand what was going on =]

  • I first saw the movie and afterwards found out it´s based on a book. Now I´ve read it many times and just haven´t been able to buy the movie! Even today I had the change but after thinking about buying it a while just thought "nah, the book´s so much better" and turned my back to it :( Though Ferrel is RAURRRRRR ;)

  • It's Colin Firth (not Ferril)

  • book was great (after seeing the movie) as it explained so many things left that I had questions about

  • oh could anyone upload it please? well just my favourite scenes would be so great - anytime cillian murphy (pieter) is in, especially the love scene! anyone please??

  • i am downloading the film now i will put in on

  • the best seen for me is the end when the camera zooms out from the Pearl on the printing

  • can sum1 upload it, I really liked da buk, luks like a gud film

  • this is one of the most erotic scenes i've ever seen. the sexuality it so subtle therefore very provocative. I loved the book and i loved watching the film as well, which does not happen very often.

  • her lips look ridiculous. does she pout through the whole film just because art historians think the open mouth in the painting would have been seen as provocative? and could the director have made the penetration metaphor any more obvious in this scene? gimme a break.

  • i just finished the book..it was pretty good..it kept me interested but this is the first time i like the movie better than the book

  • I read something about the earring. It means virtue, maybe something from the Old Testament... Nevertheless the girl in the painting looks happier than this. Definitely no photograph can achieve what Vermeer did.

  • it must be hurt

  • I love this book but i have not seen the movie

  • This movie is awful

  • This scene is so beautiful! Love it.

  • oh pls if you can upload it do it!! I love this movieeeeeeee :-)

  • i think i can upload this movie but im not sure how, i have the dvd though

  • I agree with Irulan800, this whole scene represents him taking her virginity away, so to speak. He "pierces" her, and then she starts to "bleed", all the while wincing in anticipatory pain. He then slightly comforts her afterwards.

  • I'm kinda glad he didnt kiss her.

The symbolism of this scene represents him taking her innocence away by piercing her ear. If they actually had sex, it would have cheapened thier relationship.

    Just my opinion.

  • I absolutely agree

  • Agreed.

  • omg that is so hot

  • kissss herrrr !!!!

  • Scrartt has lips to kill for

  • i love this movie, i love this scene i love scarlett.. =)

  • LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!! this is what an ART FILM should be.

  • everyone does think that. I almost screamed "asshole!" when he didn't kiss her. Best scene ever

  • I know!! I did exactly the same thing although I actually said "you asshole!" XD

  • y no la besó el idiota este XDDDD

  • Gosh, I lve this scene :'o It always makes me cry. It's the most charging sene in the hole film. I always keep thinking "kiss her! kiss her!" xD
