As a fresh-faced teenager, I struck up an infrequent correspondence with Phil Patiris. I still have his Iraq tape. When I ordered it, I included a message asking "What happened to the mouse?", a reference to a previous work. He was kind enough to put the mouse video on the tape so I could find out for myself.

Horrfying and beautiful. Mr. Baldwin's genius is that he liberates found footage from pure irony and frees it from it's campy box. You can feel it push against the edges of the frame. A strange new life. A new animal. A new reality. Wonderful!!!
