  • I'll never hear Beethoven's 7th, 2nd without thinking of The Fall. Great vid.

  • It's Beethoven's, 7th symphony Alegretto

  • this video was uploaded when i did my 27th birthday.

  • What's the name of the song at the end?

  • @tiffygabrielle It's from inglorious basterds - I think it's done by Morricone

  • what is the name of the song at 8:30 pls?

  • great series, should have millions of more views tho :(

  • You just ruined my childhood :(

  • What a fantastic video on movie remixes! LOVED IT! Will be sharing this on my social networks! Great job!

  • Imagine how incredibly fast this video'd get pulled away due to 'copyright infringement' because of ACTA, PIPA or SOPA.

  • The film theory/comparative literature major in me LOVED this! I can't believe I'm just seeing it now but I'm sharing it on and going to go watch the other installments now. Thank you!

  • "Sorry about colonialism", brilliant. These videos are so great, we watched them in my film class !

  • @melansky17 can't... stop... laughing

  • i like how george lucas copied loads of films theres only a few you pointed out but he dident get sued for any of it but anyone who copies starwars at all he will sue

  • I appreciate the work you have put in this video. This is truly enjoyable video.

  • you are very good-looking and you know a very much lot,

great site indeed, i wish i had more ( money ) to contribute to this site,

but at this point of my life, a genuine complement is all i can give,

thank you for all the hard works ! great site indeed !

  • AMAZING! ! ! !

  • This is pretty silly. To some degree you're right, but a lot of your comparisons in Star Wars were simply ridiculous grasping. Simply because someone shot a scene 20 years before where someone was sitting a table and shot another person doesn't make the Greedo scene a remix, nor does finding slight similarities between ten different films by Kurosawa mean that the Star Wars movies were remixed.

  • @Iololz No, but all of those scenes did at least inspire and assist the creation of Star Wars. Like Kirby said - creation requires influence.

He's not implying it's a bad thing when he says it's a remix, y'know. And I wouldn't call them slight similarities - they're pretty striking.

  • @Danniku I understand that it's not a bad thing. Everything we do is to some degree impersonation. However, a few of these are just a bit out there for me to believe they directly influenced it.

  • @Iololz Read Barthes Theory and essay "Death of the Author" and when you realise it you will shit bricks. It applies to everything.

  • You don't have your facts straight, sorry. Please do a little more research next time. The transformers movie is not based on the (most well known) G1 cartoon. I see you haven't pointed out the far more important comic books.

  • @dundeecake Wait, I'm a bit hard on you here, as you clearly know a lot of other stuff. Sorry for that.

  • @dundeecake but it's based off transformer which was the point he was making.

  • Incidently your work is well designed eye opening and more articulate than any YT material I've seen

  • thank you very kindly for making my guts feel better; you know that sensation when you watch a Rent-One Tear-A-Ton-Off flick and want to punch his too-far-away face for openly stealing the brilliance of others and calling it his own. Keep it up and consider this work of your for theatrical release!!! Or at least a PBS broadcast!!!

  • Yeah, I think art draws upon other forms of art for inspiration. That is known. This is the same for science and Mathematics, we build upon existing ideas.

  • great presentation

  • you forgot the 30 Godzilla movies.

  • I want to like these videos, but I can't. It's easy to pattern fit after the fact. Hindsight is always perfect. You may as well say that movies aren't original, because they are based on written stories. And stories aren't original because they are based on words. If your point is to demonstrate that humans draw upon a smaller-than-you-think library of human experience to construct new experiences, then yeah... we already know that.

  • @skadar actually a lot of people don't. Many people stop their countback clock way to early. Some people completely disregard it or their are certain aspects or details they didn't know. Point being yes maybe you and I know these things and keep them in mind, but maybe a close minded "I only like original things not recycled garbage" or even the everyday movie goer who doesn't even realize these "tropes" exist will see this and become more informed.

  • whats the music at 8.30 please?

  • I dont think I get how Dune is a "Sorry about colonialism" movie

  • Wonderful job :)

  • Actually Avatar is straight up plagiarism, see Call Me Joe (1957 by Poul Anderson).

  • you are ...awesome...blast my mediocre articulation

  • 49 Star Wars die hard fans!!!

  • sexy hunks xD

  • I chuj. Sypią sie Polacy :P

  • LS robi nielegalne reklamy :D

    Gdańsk czeka

  • Lekkostronniczy ten materiał

  • LEKKOSTRONNICZY !

  • Kto od lekkostronniczy ?:D

  • what movie is the song at 8:30 from??

  • hmmmm torture porn ... ok!

  • i would just like to say that this video really annoyed me as it attributes everything to "remixing" - or "copying" as apposed to learning from and developing. the more you learn about film, the more you'll understand that this video is simply a superficial understanding of the filmmaking process

  • If "everything" is a remix.. there would be no originals.. and without originals there would be no remixes. So I guess everything does not exist.. >.>

  • Does anyone know what the classical music part in the end is called?

  • @Morelloballo

    Beethoven - Symphony No.7 in A major op.92 - II, Allegretto

  • is there a movie that you like?!?!

  • I bet this guy can write a killer essay...

  • scumbag george lucas

  • so smoooth voice!

  • Geez.. "Carrie" was sooooooo scary as a kid :S

  • really? You are too convenient. Now, instead of an adventure, they get a shitty explanation that we have lost original concepts for movies. They also lose the search for the movies NEW movies resemble. We just get to take your shitty word for granted. YAY. Way to continue the vicious cycle.

  • u didnt really go in depth for avatar, and can you do inception? after decades of film inception was called one of the most original movies of its time, id like to hear your opinion on it

  • @jamtheman3017 i know right, but then again christopher nolan is a legend in making original movies.

  • @freakman707 yeh i cant be bothered with the research to see if this is original or not, so id lik to find out

  • Illuminating and thought provoking. Great job!

  • Han shot first.

  • It's impossible to create something completely unique, hence being a hipster is contradictory.

  • Everything id derivative.

  • At 5:33 how could there be a nazi party rally in 1935, 4 years before the war?

  • @HAVEANICEDAYFRIEND Thats because the nazi party was founded in 1919 and come to power in 1933 you retard

  • As a general rule, all videos featuring good music should display their titles in the video description. I don't like playing detective in the comments. Speaking of which, the music playing during the Kill Bill segment is Battle Without Honor or Humanity from the Kill Bill soundtrack

  • I dont understand why this video was made, captain obivous just gets annoying. Oooh, you can divide movies into genres, well duh, you can also categorize milk cartons in plastic and non-plastic types... maybe even get a subcategory for color... cmon, you have talent, its not a bad piece of shit, its a well polished turd, now do something better, for your own good.

  • please whats the name of the music in 6:00?

  • great project, but i wonder (answer me here), if everything is a remix, than what was your project inspired by (based on)? i feel there should be irony and you remixed the other project existed before^^

  • the 1954 movie "them" was copied heavily to make the 1986 film "aliens" by james cameron

  • wow

    :O

  • music at end?

  • what a waste of time...

basically everything came from, or leads to everything else...

    duh

  • What's the song playing on the Credits?

  • "Waking Life" by Richard Linklater was quite original. No a remake or based on a book, movie or play.

  • Yes you heard that right kiddies Han shot Greedo! He was actually a badass when I was a kid.

  • LOL Sorry about Colonialism!

  • you can sub up this video with one word or sound rather "duhhhh"

  • Why do you have this blocked for mobile users??? ASSHOLE.

  • I cant believe you were at the campus party mexico last time, DAMN! i just started working at the spanish one CP Valencia 2011 & 2012, you should come!

  • the crazy part is I agree

  • All this "Voyage of the Hero" talk is making me nostalgically remember my lit classes.

  • Very thought provoking! While I do agree that movies like Star Wars and Kill Bill had influences, it seems like kind of a stretch to say just because two movies a similar shots, means that the movie "remixed" from that. Sure, it may have been done subconsciously, but to say that there is no way a movie could be made unless there had been those films before it isn't necessarily true. Two completely different people who never meet can have the same idea, and not realize it.

  • Yes, same kind of feeling~~

  • you just mind fucked me...

  • @xxafrosamuraixx A Samurai here? Did you like the Ghost Dog music Sir?

  • Well I've expected some DJ remixed the song........

  • Originality happens when mutations occur.

  • So except stating the obvious....are you saying this is something bad? Because I don't see anything wrong with this, as long as movies keep me entertained I don't care that some scene resembles another scene -.-". So what? Did that stop you from enjoying Star Wars? If it did then there's something wrong with you buddy. This is why I hate people who rant at a movie for not being original....people used to enjoy movies, now they just seek flaws in them...

  • See Han shot first. Remaster is a lie.

  • this is a great remix.. like u said they need to do the idea of their own .. GREAT JOB>>> keep going ..

  • George Lucas combined everything only to mess it up

  • Someone's been on Tv Tropes too long...

  • Human life is a remix of life experiences that repeat througout history, the vid is stating the obvious.

  • I think this guy just remixed his midterm paper for ETS101

  • I think this guy just remixed his midterm paper for ETS101

  • looks like someone discovered postmodernism; its all been done before, we can only rearange and study.

  • Kirby seriously did his research! Kudo to you sir!

  • and of course... torture porn.

  • This video is depressing.:( Oh reality..

  • whats the name of the first movie? The one where the guy gets punched in the face

  • your an idiot

  • @TheComedian851 The same as Ecclesiastes... "There is nothing new under the sun"...

  • I think you just made up a genre of horror so you could include The Human Centipede in this video.

And for that sir, I salute you.

  • @waverian TORTURE PORN!

  • @waverian

  • @waverian Right because Hostel, The Saw franchise, and countless other horror movies about torture dont' count.

  • @waverian lol aren't they going to make a 2nd movie of that?

  • wow here i am thinking i was in for some good music remix, but instead I get my mind blown away by movies are made. Thanks kirby1 this was good.

  • that is freaken awesome! you really opened my mind to that.

  • yawn this told me nothing I didn't know

  • dude this is like eye opening 4 me lol

  • "Sorry about colonialism" HAHAHha.

  • this is basicly tvtropes in video form

  • ok 3:55 made my day, if you watch spoof movie no jutsu by ninjabridge, you get exactly this explanation XD

japanese george lucas: i decided to make my own film rather than ripping off old samurai movies

  • cool video except for when you beg for money at the end.

  • kirby, you totally blow up my mind. I never notice this before. Thank god movies are all the same :D

And by the way, DUBSTEP SUCKS!

  • the outfits in Star Wars are much copied from ancient Chinese clothing(Han Dynasty)

  • OMG Triumph of the Will and Starwars O.o horrible yet pure genius

  • @1:28 Anyone else see "Octopussy"? lol

  • Everything is Remixed...How unoriginal

  • @chrishagop ass hat.

  • this is a great video but Avatar is TOTALLY an adaptation of Dances With Wolves

  • Transformers the cartoon is NOT based off of the toys. Its the other way around. Fucking with my childhood here . . .

  • Who thought this was gonna be a dubstep remix?

  • 29 people are George Lucas stalkers.

  • That was amazing.

  • hi everyone.. check out /idgafrs channel and see if you like any of her vids.. if so.. then sub plox.. kthxbai

  • archived for future use by sciamacha after training period ends and true mindsend begins.

  • i love tv tropes. it can help writers right?

  • @kuwaizair

    yes

  • whats the song starting at 6:15

  • @mcdoorknob Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92, II. Allegretto, which was appropriated by the film "The Fall", and I recalled using Yahoo

  • A man called horse lol

  • I learned some of this in my film class. This is a some good stuff.

  • I wonder how long this took to put all together??

  • I like this alot!!!

  • If a scene in a movie is similar to another scene in another movie that doesn't mean that's where the idea derived from. That's just retarded to claim. There's just too many movies for a scene to be unique. Plus, you take Star Wars as an example and compare it to 50 movies.. it would be a "remix" if it's derived from ONE, maybe 2-3 but you can't say Lucas collected materials from 50 different films and call it a remix, that's also retarded..

  • or perhaps for legal reasons so they cant be sued.....

  • I think it's safer to say that everything is influenced. Although, Remixes are original. A cake is delicious, even if it just remixed ingredients that have been around longer than it has. Does it mean ppl cannot make original cakes anymore? When you want to eat a cake, do you buy any of them cause you say "they're all the same anyway, just made by different people'? It takes talent to properly "remix" things into something freshly entertaining. That is the art of creativity: Keeping it fresh.

  • Avatar adapted their story from Tarzan.

  • PFFFFFFT.

    Edward aint hot.

  • Kriby, what do you think about Negativland?

  • How can you create something that isn't derived from another idea? Most everything has been thought of after 2011 years. I even bet the idea of creating a video/paper on the fact that everything is a remix has already been done before you. So don't go around complaining that Hollywood is in the wrong when everyone has done it, including you.

  • @MikeTheBuckeye The point of the video isn't saying "people need to be original" it's to prove that there isn't anything truly original because every thought, action, scene, camera angle, is inspired. None of this is a bad thing, thought wouldn't exist without inspiration. He never said Hollywood was wrong, he in fact said it was it's greatest talent. He proves the point that the influences older films, thoughts, phrases, and art inspire us to move on and create with them today.

  • whatever happened to originality? i guess it died a long time ago....RIP

  • whoops little spelling error, I meant to say "our feature presentation", with an r. Otherwise you won't find it. ;) Anyway, Quentin Tarantino rocks.

  • Thank you :D

  • If I recall correctly, Quentin Tarantino openly admits and already told that lots of bits and pieces are references and hommages to old movies. The Kill Bill movies even start with one: the "out feature presentation" animation. Search for it on Youtube if you don't know what I mean. ;-)
