And I guess Jenkins has some speed... but other than them and Felix on the offense, we need to find us some speed. Also, this offseason really pissed me off. Giants took Canty, Skins signed Haynesworth, Eagles got Vick, had an amazing draft. We didn't do anything... we signed Brooking, but that's about it... We have to play strong.
I agree with Michael Vick potential to destroy NFC East, but I think what people are getting at how he's hasn't playing NFL football in two years under incarceration. When you have not pitched in baseball for few years you're not going to throwing 90 mph pitch right off the bat. There are quite of few scenarios play into Vick's case. No one is doubting Vick's athletic gift, but the question is does he still have it?

Mike Vick does not make the Eagles worse on the field. But I think Maclin and McCoy will be FAR more significant additions than him this year, and Jackson will be a bigger weapon than all three.
There's also a big risk that comes with bringing in such a hyped player at the same position as one of the NFL's biggest egos: Donovan McNabb. Philly O is DANGEROUS to say the least...Vick is minimally responsible for that, if at all.
I agree totally...Maclin and McCoy were the huge additions and they were already a budding juggernaut. Vick just confuses things and makes everyone else better. And there's the Andy Reid Factor. He took the most inaccurate QB I've ever seen(McNabb) and turned him into a passing threat. Vick won't be mismanaged like he was in ATL...It's just a huge X factor that can go either way. I think we may have more to worry about though. The G-men and Skins have D-lines that will blow up any play.

it's a good pickup for them & I'm saying this as a Cowboys fan. We have so much more work to do and we look good but when it comes to the past couple of season, they have beat us up and down the field. Being away from the game can sometimes affect an athelete negatively. We don't know what the 2009 Vick will bring. We know what the 2006 Vick brought but what he does now is up in the air.
Adding a guy like Vick isn't going to make you worse on paper, obviously. But adding Pacman didn't make us worse on paper either. But it was glaringly obvious he lost something after sitting out a season.

The one thing about other positions it that you need to get a lot of you intangibles back. With Pacman, he needed him timing back bad. His technique was never that good so he had to work to get that back also. Most positions are that same way...however, Vick will be running the ball mostley and that is the easiest thing to do if you have the natural talent for it. That's why Rookie RB's do so much better than all other positions.
I'm not just talking about Pacman playing CB. He was horrendous as a kick returner as well. The whole Pacman experiment blew up in our face. The Vick experiment could as well. Not saying it will. Like I said..it's a wait and see topic.

Westbrook wasnt on the field, and 3 starting offensive lineman were not in the game. Peters just need to get his timing down, thats what the pre-season is for is to shake off the rust and get your players healthy after training camp. Also the scemes are very very vanilla in pre-season. Brday wasnt that great either. his last TD came against the 2nd team D. which means Brady on 3 drives went like this (3 & out, TD thanks to a bogus PI call, and an INT)
It's gonna be a huge challenge that we are gonna have to get up for. Focus is the key during Philly week now. Nobody is bowing down to them but you are gonna have to know what you are going against with that team in order to beat them.

Being an Eagles fan, you are the most level-headed and openminded Cowboys fan I have ever met. Lord knows my Eagles fan brethren arent exactly level-headed. Facts are simple for each team in the NFC east. I dont think the defenses are that drastically better/worse than eachother (Giants D-line is scary, Eagles DB's are scary, Cowboys LB's are scary, Redskins kinda average all around). It comes down to offense in this division, and Vick *might* be the piece that gets the Eagles over. Itll b fun.

And I guess Jenkins has some speed... but other than them and Felix on the offense, we need to find us some speed. Also, this offseason really pissed me off. Giants took Canty, Skins signed Haynesworth, Eagles got Vick, had an amazing draft. We didn't do anything... we signed Brooking, but that's about it... We have to play strong.

When you have not pitched in baseball for few years you're not going to throwing 90 mph pitch right off the bat. There are quite of few scenarios play into Vick's case. No one is doubting Vick's athletic gift, but the question is does he still have it?

While we are "respecting" it. They have weapons with world class speed that will benefit. Mike Vick does not make the Eagles worse on the field. But I think Maclin and McCoy will be FAR more significant additions than him this year, and Jackson will be a bigger weapon than all three.
There's also a big risk that comes with bringing in such a hyped player at the same position as one of the NFL's biggest egos: Donovan McNabb. Philly O is DANGEROUS to say the least...Vick is minimally responsible for that, if at all.

I agree totally...Maclin and McCoy were the huge additions and they were already a budding juggernaut. Vick just confuses things and makes everyone else better. And there's the Andy Reid Factor. He took the most inaccurate QB I've ever seen(McNabb) and turned him into a passing threat. Vick won't be mismanaged like he was in ATL...It's just a huge X factor that can go either way. I think we may have more to worry about though. The G-men and Skins have D-lines that will blow up any play.

Our receiving core is downright scary, no one can cover DeSean one-on-one, and with him getting double teamed, that'll open it up for Curtis, Maclin, and Avant.
Also, watch out for Brandon Gibson. The guy has had a great camp and looked good in the game against the Patriots.
And of course Shady McCoy and B-West are gonna be great.

man shango, i've been listening to the local radio and they are just killing the man. first off, i'm pro vick. i dont get it, people are saying the management got greedy and this at that, yet before this, all u would here is they never do enough to win. now they make a move, yes risky, but a move that could possibly propel us to the superbowl and there being greedy and all about the money? please. now i realize most are prob supportive and u just hear the negativety more but i just dont get it.

Being away from the game can sometimes affect an athelete negatively. We don't know what the 2009 Vick will bring. We know what the 2006 Vick brought but what he does now is up in the air.
Adding a guy like Vick isn't going to make you worse on paper, obviously. But adding Pacman didn't make us worse on paper either. But it was glaringly obvious he lost something after sitting out a season.
Vick is a wait and see topic.

The one thing about other positions it that you need to get a lot of you intangibles back. With Pacman, he needed him timing back bad. His technique was never that good so he had to work to get that back also. Most positions are that same way...however, Vick will be running the ball mostley and that is the easiest thing to do if you have the natural talent for it. That's why Rookie RB's do so much better than all other positions.

really i don't think he will really make the eagles a bad team, nor do i think he will make them a amazing team, they guy might not even see the feild as a traditonal "QB" and if he does it will be most likley after week 6 and he'll probably be very rusty, but i might change that opinon if he does good in preseason, any ways i don't think the addition of vick makes up for the loses of Dawkin and Johnson on D

They were already on the brink of Amazing.

Westbrook wasnt on the field, and 3 starting offensive lineman were not in the game. Peters just need to get his timing down, thats what the pre-season is for is to shake off the rust and get your players healthy after training camp. Also the scemes are very very vanilla in pre-season. Brday wasnt that great either. his last TD came against the 2nd team D. which means Brady on 3 drives went like this (3 & out, TD thanks to a bogus PI call, and an INT)

I actually don't hate Vick at all. He paid his due's, and I'm not 100% sure about his involvement in the dog killings...
I actually wanted Dallas to sign him last season. But that was with Brad and Brooks as our backup's. I think we're fine with Kitna and Mcgee, as far as NFL back up qb's go.

How are you so sure. At running the ball....I've seen him suceed far far more than he has failed. There is a ton of Vick hate in the world...kind of like TO and Moss. You hope these players lose their skills because you hate them so much but the truth is that Defensive Coordinators and lost may extra hours of sleep trying to shut them down.

oooo wow the eagles lost a non-important preseason game by 2 points. facter in 2 missed field goals, brady still in the game against our 2nd team D, and a bogus pass interfearance call, not to mention all the penalties and a kickoff return for a TD and still only losted by 2 points? the scary thing is westbrook and many other starters didnt play and the things we srewed up can be corrected which is what preseason is all about. Eagles are very very scary this year. dont lose talent in 2 years.
