  • wow that is an annoying siren or maybe i'm just used to the American sirens. I didn't know those wailing sirens were still used I thought they were just for show in movies

  • it's not unmarked, it's invisible! :D

  • BAC = Brigade Anti-Crimintalité... pas Criminels lol

  • They need more Flash and a better Siren.

  • I bet I could by one of those blue lights here in America and stick on a car in paris and I could pass traffic no problem

  • @legobobsleder and you would sure have problems with the first real police car that'll see you ;)

  • That is all you hear in downtown Paris. All day until very late at night. Never seems to be a lull.

  • What is that thing that sys police on the visor called???Please let me know! Thanks in advance.

  • @pdv022 cars which has this POLICE inscription are cars from the "BAC" (Brigade Anti-Criminels).

  • @sam131090 BAC = Brigade Anti-Crimintalité... pas Criminels lol

  • @Quentin77170 à peu de choses près, c'pareil ^^

  • the light isnt too bad.. but put some wig wags on it atleast!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what is the matter all the time lol

  • Wig-wags would be a dream -- Police never use them, very rarely do we see them on an ambulance. Sigh.

  • @code3paris yea.. idk either why france is so poor on lights.. i mean u guys have the money equipement and well i would assume intelegince for it :)

  • I think that it is a way to distinguish themselves from other countries and especially the USA. National Emergency Services such as Police and Fire do not use multiple tone sirens, just the old hi-low and the lighting is really very 1980s or even 1970s. I would say that it is a reaction to the American way of life. The French government is surely behind it, otherwise they would actually be in the modern age with the rest of the world.

  • @code3paris that would be pretty stupid.. i mean they invented all these things for safety and being reconized better..

  • In the 1980s the French police had the American siren but due to overwhelming complaints that it sounded, well, too American, they quickly replaced them with the old French Hi-Low siren which is still in use today. Yes it is stupid.

  • @code3paris well ok we use the 2 tone in the netherlands too.. but we try also alot of other tones to see what is the best. also most new cars have a button to make it the 2 tone fast paced. and we do have 'some' more lights :)

  • @code3paris so they are making it more dangerous (in theory) just because they dont want to be to american?

  • @16abbek I guess I would de-emphasize the weight given to the French not wanting to be too "American" as it is probably just a desire to cling to the past and they way things always have been here. Most of the surrounding countries now use multiple-tone sirens so it's probably a question of time before the European Union applies standard laws for all countries.

  • In Spain most undercover vehicles are still also behind, with a single puny light, and I don't think it's to go against America, but to save money because they are just cheap and don't care about the safety of the emergency vehicle's personnel.

It just doesn't seem a priority to spend money making emergency personnel safer and more efficient, that's all.

Australia and other countries are the same, very few lights on unmarked cars.
