The demo was done on a table top. When spraying it gets trapped in the filter and then it is replaced. In the UK Eileens Emporium are selling "elephants trunk" type extensions that fit on the back and can be vented externally. Havent used one. I know people who have not yet replaced the filter after moderate use. Depends how much use you give it and your assessment as to whether the filter is still doing its job. I would always wear a mask anyway when working.
Hi Pete, thanks for the demo. BUT I am rather confused as to the need for a "spray booth" - I have made myself a board with a back piece (upstand) and this works very well for me. I can't quite convince myself that I need to have a booth with fan etc, as I can't quite get the reason for it. Any comments on why it should be necessary to have a spray booth, as opposed to a "box" I'd grateful. Please note that this is not a criticism but a question as to the need for a "booth" Many Thanks, Robert
Each to his own, if it works for you, fine. Spray booths with an extraction system are safer and trap unwanted mist that eventually will settle on surroundings, Not to mention removing it from your windpipe.
The demo was done for the benefit of a lot of fellow modellers who have since taken advantage of this very low cost option. If your method works then keep doing it
@PeteScR Many thanks Pete, as I said I'm trying to understand the need. A friend uses something similar to get an even coating but doesn't have the extraction. I'm seriously looking to 'upgrade' my Heath Robinson design!. Many Thanks again. Robert
You can but them in the UK from Expo tools or Eileen's Emporium. There could be others
