Edgar Lee Masters was born a few years after the Civil War. He was still

alive when I was a kid.

I once read that only two poets in America have written best sellers:

Robert Frost and Rod McKuen. But Masters' Spoon River Anthology

was a best sellerduring WWI. So was the sequel.

i mean... it was great that they fought and all, but they were just getting their fucking picture taken... no need to go on about all the shit in their eyes and how you can see into them by the sadness on their faces
