I'd say the song is influenced by Eno, not Bowie, as it was Eno who changed Bowie sound on his Berlin trilogy. Iggy sound on the Soldier album approaches more to new experimental venues, very German, yes, but different to the symphonic long industrial songs that Bowie settled on Low and Heroes. When will be the time than Iggy's considred by himself and not as Iggy + Bowie? He deserves that.

Correctomondo JJ88. Simple Minds' heroes at the time were Iggy/Bowie/King Crimson/ Alex Harvey Band. They were ecstatic when Iggy used them on this song !

They are indeed Sam. They have remained good friends for almost 40 years.Collaborated on each others stuff. Even some of their album covers were similar.."The Idiot"_"Heroes" for example.

Bowie wrote china girl with Iggy. I like both versions, but the orignal is a excellent piece of rock. I am a Bowie fan, but his version is too comersialised, It is a brilliant version allthough.
